how can you get to battle with the gym leaders from other regions ?
i saw it in a trailer

After you defeat the Elite Four, you can challenge Unova Leaders.
After defeating the Unova Leaders, you can then challenge Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh leaders.
I mean the one with the Pink shirt.

Talk to the lady in red with the red hat. Not the green one. Select Unova Leaders. Beat it. Talk to the lady again and select the region you want to fight. Mew :3's exact method is what worked for me. You're definately doing it wrong.
