Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Miltank?

2 votes

I actually have two very usable Miltank's, but I will only give out one of them. The other one uses my Complex Focus Punch moveset that some of you know about :) Miltank has always been one of the Pokemon I hated facing most, along with Gyarados, Pidgeot, and Tyranitar. My Miltank has the ability Scrappy and knows:

Body Slam: Good power, high accuracy, STAB, good chance to paralyze, mine isn't friendly enough for Return.
Earthquake: Earthquake is incredible.
Curse: Increases Attack and Defense.
Heal Bell: Cures any status ailments on the team.

By the way everybdy, I  changed my team around so that everyone except for Charizard (who is never leavin my team, I just use him as a lead) fits in with my Tyranitar. I replaced my Milotic and Snorlax for Swampert (who is immune to Sand Stream) and Roserade (who is using Sand Stream to its advantage, knowing: Leech Seed, Ingrain, Giga Drain, and Weather Ball and holding the Big Root.)
Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 76 HP / 216 Atk / 216 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt

Heal Bell- Works as a team utility.

Body Slam/Facade -run STAB normal and abuse paralysis or status abuse whenever you want. Facade can work nicely with Heal bell if the opponent predicts you having it, which is very likely considering how frequently Miltank runs this, so it can be used to your advantage and hold out a bit longer if you get hit with something like taunt. Double edge is for all out damage, and Return is the well rounded move to use, so fit it as you need.

Milk Drink-Gives basic recovery.

Stealth Rock-Self explanatory

Suggested item: Leftovers
Suggested Ability: Thick Fat (If you're trying to counter something specific, like a Serperior or something, then sap sipper can also serve a nice purpose, but you might run into some move continuity issues)

Why bringing this question back to life?
Because moveset questions are put in place for the sake of answering the movesets, not for a specific person. They aren't like thread topics or the other questions.

Double Edge/Return All Out damage, goes well with ability. Return doesn't give recoil.

Earthquake-Hits Steel and rock types that try to resist STAB.

Toxic-Allows it to break up bulk in walls it would otherwise have trouble trying to KO.

Milk Drink-Allows it to shrug off damage from recoil.

Suggested item: Life Orb

Suggested Ability: Scrappy

Miltank =D
I think she's better than Blissey because she has average stats. Blissey lacks hardly in defense and attack so a powerful, physical, fighting type move could pretty much kill Blissey in one hit.

Item: Life Orb
Trait: Scrappy
Nature: Adamant

Body Slam - STAB, nice power.
Milk Drink - Heals her.
Zen Headbutt / Brick Break - ZH deals with fighting types. BB has nice coverage.
Stealth Rock - Set this up with x2 toxic spikes (drapion) so then you'll really piss your opponent off.

Gen V/VI

Miltank (ambiguous) w/ leftovers

Ability: Scrappy

EVs: 252HP/252Def/4Sp.Def

Nature: +def - attack

Moves:

Thunder Wave
Heal Bell
Milk Drink
Seismic Toss

Super annoying Miltank, doesnt often get OHKO'd and can hit ghost types. Also faster than more pokes in RU than you think.

Gen VI the great cow wall.

Miltank: Scrappy
Nature: Jolly to give slight outspeed in 100 class.
Item: Weakness policy
252 SPD 252 DEF 4 HP

Power-up Punch
Substitute
Return
Milk Drink

This set destroys physical teams. Substitute is there so you won't get toxic or will-o-wisp stalled. Miltank can take hits so only a special fighting type will be an issue after weakness policy. Continued powerup punches, milk drink and subs will eventually have it set up to sweep.

Miltank - Item: Leftovers. EP Spread: 252 HP. 252 Def. 4 SpD. Nature: Impish (+Def, -SpA) Ability: Scrappy (for those hard-to-reach Ghost types)

Moves:

Milk Drink - Miltank is a fantastic wall. Nothings is more frustrating than bringing her down only to be healed right back up.

Toxic - Does a great job with stalling

Counter - If you predict a strong attack, Miltank will most likely survive and destroy your opponents Pokemon. (I've survived Close Combat from a Heracross with 88% HP left...with it's attack doubled. Heracross was not so lucky) This will also cover Miltank's inability to use toxic if the opponent is either a Ground or Steel type. I'm very surprised that this move wasn't in any of the other answers. It has worked wonders for me.

Seismic Toss - Whether you're dealing with a special attacker or fighting a Pokemon who isn't greatly effected by counter, this is your only option of attack. More than likely, you can pull off Toxic and take them down piece by piece.

I do not recommend using Curse. Miltank has a very decent speed for a wall Pokémon. The speed may come in handy if you need to use toxic, seismic toss, or if you need to heal in a pinch.

The only weakness I see in this set is if I get hit with Toxic or Will-O-Wisp, it tends to slow me down slightly. Be sure to keep a Pokemon with heal bell or aromatherapy just as an insurance policy.

Don't be afraid to put Miltank as your 1st or second Pokemon. This set is made to put a great dent in your opponents team. I hope this helps.

Miltank@ Leftovers
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 144 SDef / 12 Spd
Calm Nature
enter image description here Thunder Wave

Lead Miltank
This Miltank is a good lead. Thunder Wave is to paralyze opponents, which is really annoying for them. Then Stealth Rock is to... set up rocks to hurt anyone that they send out! Milk Drink Is for whenever you get low HP. Since the opponent is paralyzed, Milk Drink will probably go first! Seismic Toss is to do damage, and Scrappy lets it hit ghost-type Pokemon!

I was playing around with Miltank when I found out this awesome moveset...

Miltank@ Leftovers

Trait: Scrappy

EV's: 252 Def/ 252 SDef/4 HP

Relaxed Nature (+Def,  -Spe)

Curse:  Raises attack and defense but lowers speed. #BulkyMiltank :P

Gyro Ball:  Gyro Ball works great with curse. The faster the opponent is, the stronger. Curse lowers your speed and with that attack boost you'll have a powerful Miltank.

Milk Drink:  If your getting into trouble while your setting up your bulky Miltank. DRINK DAT MILK!

Brick Break/ Substitute:  Any steel types getting in your way? Brick Break might fix that problem. Meanwhile, Substitute will help you setup your bulky Miltank. And also if you have the advantage it will take your opponent a pretty long time to break through your substitute.
