Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Plusle and Minun?

1 vote

I am putting these two together in one question because Pokemaster wanted it that way, due to them only really being used in Double Battles. Mine are made for Single-Battle, so the movesets I am giving below are just movesets I think would work for them. Remember, movesets you give should be for Double Battle and not Single Battle on this question.

Plusle: Thunder, Light Screen, Sweet Kiss, Mud Slap.

Minun: Rain Dance, Trump Card, Substitute, Thunder.

Hahaha, Doubles movesets for the Dynamic Duo, huh...?

Hmmm, okay, I think I have a good one. The point of these two is for Minun, the defensive one, to support and Buff Plusle, the offensive one, and I think I have just the solution!

PLUSLE:

Swift / Grass Knot (Swift for never-miss damage, or Grass Knot for dealing with your weakness)

Thunderbolt (Strong reliable STAB)

Nasty Plot (Blast that Special Attack nice and high!)

Sweet Kiss / Signal Beam (Sweet Kiss for confusion and time for Nasty Plot, or Signal Beam for damage, coverage, and a similar effect)

MINUN:

Helping Hand (Use this to support Plusle when he's ready to sweep)

Light Screen (Support both of your Special Defenses)

Trump Card / Thunderbolt (Trump Card for Drawn-out, but very powerful damage, or Thunderbolt for Reliable, consistent STAB)

Charm / Encore (Use Charm to help with Defenses, or Encore. Plusle and Minun are fast, so Encore is easier to use on them)

Plusle has to make massive amounts of damage to cover for Minun's support, and Minun has to support so that Plusle can continue to carry its weight.

These two are useless on their own, but together, with Plus, Minus, Nasty Plot, and Helping Hand, make for devastating attacks, capable of downing almost anything that STAB thunderbolt / Thunder can hit.

Minun is often preferred on its own, because of the Defenses, and the support it can give in any Double battle. Still, both Plusle and Minun, are best with each other.

It's like Randy Newman once said:
"One without the other, don't mean nothin' to me."

Minun (M) @ Air Balloon

Trait: Minus

EVs: 128 SAtk / 128 SDef / 252 Spd

Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)

  • Nasty Plot
  • Thunder
  • Hidden Power [Water]
  • Substitute

For use in the rain only

He has the bulk to use Nasty Plot, especially with No weaknesses ( Air Balloon ).
He can also Sub up to Plot safely, HP Water gets a rain boost, while Thunder gets 100% accuracy in the rain. This is indeed, a Single battle set.

Minun/Plusle @ Life Orb

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / Spe

Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)

  • Thunderbolt
  • Grass Knot
  • Hidden Power Ice
  • Nasty Plot/Volt Switch

Thunderbolt is STAB.
Grass Knot gives some coverage and is a good move.
Hidden Power Ice hits Grass types and works well with Tbolt.
Nasty Plot boost SpA, Volt Switch can scout and is STAB.
Same set for both.

Single Battle

Plusle (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Plus
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Entrainment
- Volt Switch
- Fling / Electroball
- Protect / Hp Ice

Fling with protect, electroball with HP Ice

Entrainment stops Magic Guard Duosion n Kadabra in thier tracks, along with other pokemon that rely on thier abilities. Volt switch is for scouting. Fling is just to get rid of the scarf, along with protect for extra scouting, or Electroball takes advantage of that high speed, with HP ice for coverage.
