Double-Edge
Rest
Sleep Talk
Crunch

Use Double-Edge to do massive damage, then heal it off with Rest, using Sleep Talk to still attack. Crunch is there to take down Ghost types.

If this is for Gen 5, Heavy Bomber might make a good replacement for Crunch, seeing how heavy Snorlax is. I wouldn't reccomend it though.

Belly Drum is another option, with the classic Belly Drum-Rest-Chesto Berry combo. Then you would have to replace Double-Edge with Body Slam though. I like the Restalk strategy better, as if you lose that Chesto Berry, you are pretty much in for some trouble.

Gen V

Snorlax (M) @ Chesto Berry

Trait: Thick Fat

EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 SDef

Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)

  • Curse
  • Crunch
  • Rest
  • Double-Edge

A classic set. Set up Curse a whole ton, which makes up for the lower Defense stat, while also giving it nice Attack. Then Rest off your damage, now it'll be harder to get damaged since you've Cursed up. Chesto Berry heals you right away. Double-Edge is high powered STAB, and you can always heal off the damage with Rest. Crunch is there to hit Ghost types. Thick Fat is the most useful ability, as it provides protection against Fire and Ice. Immunity isn't so useful seeing as you can remove Poison anyways with Rest. EVs give you a nice attack, while also making you hard to deal damage to, especially after you've raised your defense with Curse.

descriptionWeird set
Item: Choice-specs
Ability: Thick-fat
Nature: Modest/Quiet
EVs: 252 S.Attack, 200 Defense, 58 Hp

Ice-beam/Blizzard
Flamethrower/Fire-blast
Thunderbolt/Thunder
Psychic/Shadow-ball

Definitely weird to give Snorlax a Choice specs set, but it can hit pretty hard with about 375 S.Attack (including specs boost). Ice-beam/Blizzard for coverage, accuracy or power. Flamethrower/Fire-blast is coverage, acc or power. Thunderbolt/Thunder more coverage! Psychic/Shadow-ball yup coverage though I prefer Psychic for Fighting types.

Gen V Set for Munchlax

Munchlax (M) @ Eviolite

Trait: Thick Fat

EVs: 124 HP / 136 Def / 248 SDef

Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)

  • Toxic
  • Curse
  • Return
  • Fire Punch/Earthquake

Toxic poisons the foe. Curse up like Snorlax, and you are even more of a defensive force, and can now attack. Return provides STAb, while Fire Punch is used to take down the Steel types who are immune to Toxic and resist Return. Earthquake hits these Steel types with more power, while also hitting Poison types for super-effective damage. However, running Earthquake over Fire Punch will leave you completely unable to do anything against Gengar. Also, Earthquake will leave you doing minimal damage against the likes of Skarmory and Bronzong, as well as Air Ballooners, while all you have to worry about with Fire Punch is Heatran, who is also running Air Balloon most of the time. However, if you feel like taking risks and doing more damage, you can use Earthquake, but I consider Fire Punch the attack best used so you aren't completely walled by a larger number of Pokemon. Thick Fat is once again the most useful ability, and the EVs give you max dfensive powers.

Hey Trachy, I know you said to only comment if I REALLY thought something was a better idea.

But why not use Earthquake over Fire punch?

For a more powerful counter to Rock and Steel which both resist return, And its super affective Agaisn't Both types that resist Toxic.
A valid point, and one I should have addressed in my explanation. The answer is mainly Gengar, but is also Pokemon like Skarmory, Bronzong, and Air Ballooners. A good point though, and I will make Earthquake an option if you feel risky.

Trachy's suggestion is good, but I prefer giga-impact over double-edge. Noboby really expects any pokemon to ram them with giga-impact while sleeping, and it can easily knock any low defense pokemon (like mosty pesky fighting types) out of the park!

Double-Edge has only 30 less power than Giga Impact, and has higher accuracy. Also, Giga Impact still makes you have to recharge, leaving you vulnerable.

Earthquake-Coverage
Crunch/Heavy Slam-Coverage but Heavy Slam is more effective
Selfdestruct-Massive STAB(to use at low HP)

Double/Triple Battle

Snorlax (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rock Slide
- Selfdestruct
- Earthquake
- Crunch

What the hell. It gets STAB. So I might as well use SD. Rock Slide and Earthquake hit multiple foes. Crunch takes down Ghost types.
