Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is the most awful Pokemon in the metagame?

0 votes

Note: Don't say sunkern or magikarp. Also, try to refrain from saying the first evolutions of Pokemon.

By awful I mean that nobody uses them. They have awful movesets and stats and have the worst type combinations. I didn't get to look far into this so that's why i'm asking you guys. So far, the worst I have seen is corsola.

I think that's a matter of opinion; there are quite a few Pokemon at the bottom of the NU barrel that would qualify as the most awful. E.g. while a lot of People argue that Pachirisu/ Emonga are just cheap electric squirrels made to manufacture cute plush dolls, I would actually argue that they had a use (mostly due to their DW abilities).

Castform, Chatot, Delcatty, Delibird, Spinda, Sunflora and Wormadam are all considered pretty useless, though Spinda is seeing more use with Contrary and Superpower.

Unown is probably the most useless Pokemon in the Metagame (it's not technically a first evolution since it doesn't evolve). On Smogon, at least you can pick your Hidden Power, but in reality, you're most likely to be stuck with a useless HP type. Even choice spec'ed maximum special attack is mediocre, and since you only get 1 move, all you need is a Pokemon immune to/ resistant to that move and Unown is dead. Coupled with a base speed/ defence/ sp. def of 48 that is liable to make you cry, Unown should never be used. Ever.

At least Castform has base 70 stats all round. Though having said that, Castform shouldn't be used for any reason apart from pity.

Long post coming up.

The point about Unown is that it only has 1 move; it has no coverage, and only 1 in 17 chance at STAB. It's so slow that it will get KO'd before it can deal damage.

252 SpA Keldeo Surf vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Unown: 276-325 (115.96 - 136.55%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Toxicroak Sucker Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Unown: 298-352 (125.21 - 147.89%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Technician Breloom Bullet Seed (3 hits) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Unown: 426-504 (178.99 - 211.76%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Unown: 468-552 (196.63 - 231.93%) -- guaranteed OHKO

etc. etc. etc.

Unown is outsped by everything. Choice Specs makes no difference because it cannot outspeed any of its threats. Choice Scarf would mean damage dealt, but still OHKO'd due to not high enough sp. atk.

e.g.

252+ SpA Unown Hidden Power Psychic vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Gengar: 218-258 (83.2 - 98.47%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I don't need to post any more of its Choice Scarf sets. Additionally, even a Scarfed Unown cannot outspeed max speed un-scarfed Gengar or Keldeo. Its speced calculations mean absolutely nothing if it can't actually attack.

Conclusion: worse than worthless.
I have a Pachirisu. IT ISN`T AWFUL. Pick up give me useful items (specially if it's a high level pokemon).
That's in game; this is talking about competitive play.
Can't argue with that kind of logic.

I know you already had an answer posted... but I love this Q. LOL.

Anyway, as marzipan said, there are many answers to this question. Not including first evolutions... I would have to go with...

Farfetch'd

Farfetch'd.

Look at the stats. 52/65/55/58/62/60.

He said no first evolutions.
http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/farfetchd - Farfetch'd is actually listed as OU on Smogon.
Dat's the joke article. XD

Check out Unown. Or Magikarp. Or Delibird.
No it isn't. Farfetch'd is better than Arceus. Smogon is law. 8|
