Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Scrafty?

Another interesting and unique type combo. A Fighting type without a Psychic weakness!

Likely tier: Borderline
Drain punch
Crunch
Bulk up
Rest
I reckon a good moveset for Scrafty is Focus Punch, High jump kick, giga impact and Hyper beam
Scrafty's a cool Pokemon and all, but I don't really understand it that much. Think about it: it punches a ghost and does nothing, it bites a ghost and lands super-effective damage.
Mines different I run crunch/ dark pulse, drain punch/ focus blast, sludge bomb (deals with fairys) and hp Fire suprised people who use mega mawile or any bug

over all scrafty is the best physical sweeper I have come across. my moveset follows:

nature : adament
Ability : moxie
EV's : 252 in attack and hp, 4 in speed.
item : chesto berry (or lum)

crunch (stab and good coverage, flinching is nice too)

dragon dance (to set up the speed and attack for the sweep)

brick break/close combat (brick break for secure damage, cc if you wanna play risky yet annialate your opponent)

rest (get your hp back and wake up in the same turn ? yes please)

*now, what you want to do is you want to get a few dragon dances off to get that all important attack and speed up, ( you should be able to take 2 non super-effective hits before resting scrafty's high D and spec D ftw ^.^ ) then rest it off, use another dragon dance if you need, then nail em with crunch/brick break or close combat and let moxie do the rest! (for new people to scrafty best off to practice in the elite 4 before taking it to your friends just to know it's damage/sustain)

Scrafty's defenses are higher than it's attack stats so bulk up can help him stay out longer in battle and attack to help do some serious damage so my move set would be

  • bulk up(look above)
  • high jump kick
  • ice punch(covers flying weakness)
  • dragon claw or crunch 4 pure power.

you could also replace high jump kick with focus punch and bulk up with double team to ensure a powerful combo and add a bright powder to help even more!!!

Mine's a little odd. Introducing: Tank Scrafty.

Ability: Shed Skin
Nature: Careful (-sp atk, +sp def).
EVs: 252 Hp and 128 sp def and def.
Item: Rocky Helmet/Leftovers/Shell Bell
Moves: Bulk Up (boost)
Stone Edge/Zen Headbutt (coverage)
Drain Punch (Stab+Heal)
Toxic/Double Team (Poison or boost)

There's a lot of flexibility for the 4th move. Detect/Protect, Amnesia, round out coverage by having Stone Edge AND Zen Headbutt.

Moveset for Scrafty:

  • Taunt [Dark Move] (So the opponent would be forced to use Physical-based moves like ThunderPunch, X-Scissor or Power Whip)
  • Counter [Fighting Move] (To counter Physical-based moves with twice the power it received)
  • Hi Jump Kick [Fighting Move] (To give it that extra "kick" after giving back the received damage)
  • Hyper Beam [Normal Move] (Just for the hell of it.)

Scrafty @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
Nature: Adamant (^Atk vSpAtk)
EVs: 252 Atk, 178 HP, 80 Def
- High Jump Kick (130 BP + STAB + LO anyone?)
- Dragon Dance/Bulk Up (One of these and you're set)
- Drain Punch (LO Recovery, pretty nice damage)
- Iron Head (Coverage against the damn fairies that wreck it this gen)

Served me quite well before. Well, before it was Ice Punch/Zen Headbutt. But then the Fairy Nation attacked.

Replace one of those Fighting moves with Knock Off / Dual Chop FTW
Hm. But they're both so good! D:
Both fighting moves, that is.
Y not Crunch?
lol crunch
We'd like some EVs etc please. And could you make it a bit easier to read? The actual moves are good otherwise. Though, you may want to run Knock Off over Crunch now

Scrafty
Nature: Adament
Ability: shedskin
Evs: 252 attk 252 hp 6 spd
Item: big root/ rocky helmet

Drain punch
Dragon dance/ bulk up

Idea is to get a boost and use drain punch, and rest with the idea of shed skin healing also helps against thunder wave which I've seen a lot on x and y

This Pokemon is amazing and this moveset is my scrafty's and works really well I beat my friends, Volcarona, Electrivire, Machamp, Musharana and Blastoise and somebody else. No joke so any way here it is. ( level 50 battle)
Ability : Shed skin
Item :Leftovers
Nature : careful

  • Bulk up : boost that defense and Atack which careful covers Special defense.
  • Drain punch : extra healing powered by bulk up and STAB
  • Payback : STAB good if your the slower Pokemon
  • Protect ; this is handy for leftovers to kick in.
    This guy is BOSS!

Nature:Adamant
Item: life orb/chesto berry/leftovers
Moves:
Drain Punch: Stab and heals back damage
Knock off/Crunch: Knock off does double damage if opponent has held item (it also knocks item off of opponent) or Crunch for 80 power and chance to lower defense.
Dragon Dance: Raises speed and Attack by 1 stage.
Rest: Restores your health completely but makes the user fall asleep ( has a chance to wake up early thanks to shed skin)

This is what I've been using; I figured it was worth adding since I don't see many answers that take into account the Fairy type.

Scrafty @ Fist Plate or Black Belt
EVs
: 252 Sp. Atk (to aid STAB moves), 252 Def, 4 HP
Ability: ideally Intimidate but mine is Shed Skin; Nature: anything neutral

Move I: Focus Blast or Power-up Punch -- go-to move for STAB and item bonus
Move II: Stone Edge -- coverage against super-effective flying types
Move III: Sludge Bomb -- coverage against super-effective fairy types
Move IV: Payback -- another STAB move, 100% accuracy plus chance to double power if Scrafty goes second.

The reason I stuck with Shed Skin is because mine has 6 maxed out IVs, so I thought it was a fair trade off.

[email protected] Berry / Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate / Moxie
Evs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk/4 Def or 252 sp. def./ 252 HP or 252 attack / 4 attack/def.
Adamant Nature
Moveset:
- Payback / Brick Break
- Dragon Dance / Bulk Up / Amnesia(?)
- Drain Punch
- High Jump Kick/poison jab

Because scrafty is pretty slow, he'll likely get hit first so now payback will now do 150 base damage instead of 75( STAB included, and 75x2 is 150). Brick break breaks screens and gets stab while having decent power.

Dragon dance/bulk up/amnesia: both increase this guy's attack and compliments moxie, but don't use dragon dance if using payback, as it increases this guy's speed, which is good for sweeping, but bad for payback. Bulk up if you like a tanky scrafty. amnesia + intimidate is a deathblow to attackers.

Drain punch: drain punch recovers some much needed HP, as scrafty runs low on this precious resource. Also has decent power, STAB, and recovers lost HP from setting up dragon dance or bulk up.

Hi jump kick/ poison jab: poison jab deals with fairies. hi jump kick has tons of raw power and STAB but beware of missing with this move.

Lum berries take out any status that might harm him during setup. Moxie makes this guy's attack crazy high and intimidate removes the need for ev investment in def., which frees up investment in sp. defence, and that's a good thing, when trying to kill nasty plotters/ high sp attack Pokémon or trying to survive an onslaught of their attacks. Amnesia isn't too reliable( although you can use it ) in my opinion because it only boosts one stat. Adamant boosts scrafty's attack to good levels, and a drop in sp. attack doesn't matter, as he doesn't use this stat much. Life orb is a staple in any attacking set. All in all, scrafty is built to be a hard hitting tank, but be careful, as this guy isn't fool proof.

Hoped this helped:)

Most movesets here seem to be the same three moves with only the last move varying, I've developed a different strategy.

![UNEXPECTED CONQUEST SPRITE][1]
[1]: http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/4/42/PCP560.png

Scrafty @ Wide Lens
Trait: Moxie
Jolly or Adamant

  • High Jump Kick
  • Taunt
  • Knock Off / Crunch
  • Poison Jab / Ice Punch

This moveset centers around its most powerful move, High Jump Kick — has STAB, and makes use of the Wide Lens by increasing the 90% hit rate to a solid 100%. Taunt prevents the foe from using Protect and guarantees your hit. Knock Off can be used to disarm Choice Bands or Choice Specs, even if Scrafty's defenses are high up it's always satisfying to disarm the opponent. Crunch if you'd rather have the extra chance to lower Defense on bulky foes. Ice Punch covers Flying and Ground, the latter is a very common type on competitive battling, or you can use Poison Jab to get rid of Scrafty's greatest weakness, those pesky fairies - commonly armed with low defenses. Plus 30% chance of poisoning.

Taunt, make good use of some PP Up to get High Jump Kick up to 16 PP, and go wild.

This is an effective part sweeper part tank set.
Scrafty
Nature: Impish
252 Hp, 252 Def, 4 Att
Item: Assault Vest or Lum berry
Ability: Moxie

Moves
Drain Punch: reliable recovery while doing damage. Plus it is STAB.
Power-Up Punch: boosts attack while doing damage.
Knock Off: not only removes items but is actually this guy's strongest move if the opponent is holding an item.
Poison Jab: coverage for fairy types plus a decent chance to poison.
