I know he drew the original 151 Pokemon by himself, but the gen 5 designs are totally different and crappy. Did he make those too?

I don't why you think the 5th gen designs are crappy when Gen 1 had pokemon like Grimer, Muk, Dugtrio, Magneton, Voltorb, and Electrode. And before you say it, yes I am old enough to have grown up with Gen 1.
I have to disagree with the above comment. Those designs are simple, but not crappy. The new gen designs are definitely different, I'm not saying they're crappy but they are quite a different style.
I upvoted this cuz i thought it was good but that bit about gen 5 hurt ;-;
I actually like Gen V. Lots of cool Pokemon with a fair amount of character to them. I like the Pokemon better than Gens II and IV, which had for the most part many unremarkable Pokemon. Those Generations are the only ones which have Pokemon that I sometimes actually forget even exist. Gen V is probably my third favorite Gen in terms of the Pokemon.
i wasn't really calling those pokemon crappy (although I really don't like Muk or Electrode), I was just pointing out that there are some rather un-inspirational Gen 1 pokemon, and there are a lot of Gen V pokemon I quite like.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??!?!?!?!?!?!
PIDGEY IS MOST INSPIRED POKEMON OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
Cram it, Desdinova :P
"Ermahgeh, Vanilluxe is totally uninspired because it's an ice cream that splits in two!"
Because Dugtrio is the epitome of creativity. A toe that's poking out of the ground became three toes that poke out of the ground.

You might want to get your nostalgia glasses fixed.
reckt :P

As an example, while the original 151 were personally designed and drawn by Sugimori, by 2010 and Pokémon Black & White he was leading a large art team, who all worked on creating new creatures for the game. Despite this, Sugimori had the final say on designs, and all final character art was still his sole responsibility, maintaining a tradition that has seen every piece of official Pokémon creature and character art come straight from Sugimori's pen (or computer).
