I don't understand what you're asking; are you saying you want a counter to Charizard Y, or you want to use Charizard X to counter Charizard Y, or something else?
Just put in stealth rock entry hazards xD
There's ducklett if you want to be flashy

The most reliable counters are probably Blissey, Chansey, and Heatran.

Blissey and Chansey are basically bulky enough to take any hit from it, since most of them will be special. And they can stall it out with the Toxic + Wish + Protect combo.

Heatran just resists Solar Beam, Air Slash, and Dragon Pulse and gets a Flash Fire boost from Fire Blast, so it makes a great counter. But you gotta watch out got E-Quake variants, because I think those will be fairly common.

As for just flat out KO'ing it, it's not that hard. Anything that can outspeed and hit it hard does fine. Priority from Talonflame and Azumarill does nicely too.

The best way i found is to run a Politoed after the mega evolution and attack from there or, you can also run a Garchomp with stone edge. Garchomp has a x4 resistance to fire, so it will survive anything that charizard has to throw at it. Politoed's drizzle will cancel out charizard's drought then you can hydro pump. I personally like the Garchomp strategy more because it has a lower chance of failure due to a switch out or being OHKO'ed by charizard's solar beam.
Actually, ground isn't resistant to fire.

Tyranitar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stone edge
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Pursuit

This Tyranitar can reliably switch in on any of Charizard Y's attacks, overwrite the sun, take a second hit and knock out Charizard Y with Stone Edge. Even Charizard Y with Earthquake can't do much.

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam (60 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tyranitar in Sand: 50-60 (12.4 - 14.8%) -- possible 7HKO

And in the sun, if for some ungodly reason that happens.
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tyranitar: 146-174 (36.2 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

And the Earthquake variants.
4 Atk Mega Charizard Y Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 138-164 (34.2 - 40.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

And the weird Dragon Dance Charizard Ys
+1 4 Atk Mega Charizard Y Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 206-244 (51.1 - 60.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Pretty much the only way Charizard Y could reliably take out Tyranitar is by running 232 attack ivs, get a Dragon dance off and have rocks and 3 layers of spikes up when the max health Tyranitar switches in.¨

Edit: I just tought to add that since Tyranitar has no way of recovering hp himself, it could be very beneficial running something with wish support, like Togekiss for example. Togekiss also compliments some of Tyranitar's weaknesses and can also help dealing with Charizard X.

General Counter Information

Mega Charizard X
Mega Charizard X (as seen above) is a Fire-Dragon Type, so the only types it is weak against are ground, rock and dragon types. Charizard can learn Earthquake, Dig, Rock Tomb, Bulldoze, Dragon Claw, and many other moves through TMs and leveling up so you shouldn't have a problem facing it with a Mega Charizard Y.

Mega Charizard Y
Mega Charizard Y (as seen above) has the same typing as regular Charizard (Fire-Flying) so it still has its weaknesses to rock, electric and water. As said before, Charizard can learn many ground-type moves to counter Electric and Rock Types, and Charizard can use a nice Solarbeam to hit Water Types. Drought helps this especially.

This really doesn't answer the question... It just gives obvious info.
We're talking about mega charizard Y and you don't think to mention solar beam as a good counter to water types?
Solar beam takes care of ground rock and water

Rockslide= supereffective against both fire & flying 4x effective vs mega Y and 2xeffectiv vs x

Some kind of rock attack. Stone Edge does the trick quite nicely.

I would suggest running dragon dance, earthquake, solar beam and flamethrower/fire blast on the mega Charizard Y if you want it to counter X. If you were talking about the actual move named counter on a mega Charizard X than a dragon dance boosted earthquake will do fine. You're going to want to run max speed evs and a nature that boosts speed as well, possibly naïve or hasty (not timid because you want your attack for earthquake). This will let you outspeed or at least speed tie with other charizard varieties, as all of them have a base speed of 100 and a max speed of something like 328 at lvl 100. Also with a dragon dance up you can outspeed a lot of other things as well, with base 100 not being that good. If you wanted a pure special attacking timid version, try ancient power for 4 times damage against talonflame and other charizard y's. (A brave bird won't kill unless it has a swords dance/bulk up on or if it's banded). So in summary...
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Nature: Timid/Naïve/Hasty
252 Spe, 252 SpA, 4 Def (not hp it should be an odd number)
Flamethrower/Fire Blast
Dragon Dance/Tailwind (You need that speed)
Solar Beam
Ancient Power/Earthquake/Dragon Pulse

but he wants to counter Y, NOT X !
However, if this particular Charizard Y can outspeed than another Charizard Y (possibly through Tailwind), it can quite possibly OHKO the other with Ancient Power.
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Ancient Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 140-168 (91.5 - 109.8%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

Unlikely because a lotof Charizard Y (in VGC at least) run bulky spreads.
So long ago  .-.

Since you're adding information/ asking actual doubts it may be okay. But just this once.

Try Politoed, as it counters Charizards weather (turning it to rain, destroying Solar Beam) and is resistant to Fire STABs.

Trollitoad (politoed)@ Life Orb
Ability: Drizzle
EVs:252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Sp.D
Nature: Adamant
-Waterfall
-Body Slam
-Earthquake
-Hypnosis

Waterfall is for OHKOing Charizard Y, the others are filler. Body Slam can Paralyze, making you faster, and Hypnosis puts him to sleep.

252+ Atk Life Orb Politoed Waterfall vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y in Rain: 478-564 (160.9 - 189.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

And this is all Charizard can achieve

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Politoed in Rain: 51-61 (13.2 - 15.8%) -- possible 7HKO

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam (60 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Politoed in Rain: 152-180 (39.5 - 46.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Politoed: 152-179 (39.5 - 46.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

As you can see, Drizzle makes Charizard useless, and Politoed can easily OHKO it, making Politoed a reliable counter.
