If the foe is holding a Life Orb and takes damage, would Assurance get the power Boost?

>Assurance's power is 2x if the target has received damage of any sort before Assurance is used. This includes Life Orb, Spikes, Stealth Rock, etc.

So yes, Life Orb contributes to the Assurance power boost.
