Chimchar's gender ratio is 87.5% male, 12.5% female, so only a 1/8 chance of getting a female. Because you only get it once, most people have the male version, unless you keep resetting to get a female.

Mine was a female!!! :D I did have to keep trying though. I think I nicknamed her something really stupid though.
