Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

Whismur and Bulbasaur wont breed?

0 votes

Is there something I don't understand about dual egg groups? Bulbasaur is monster and grass, and whismur is monster and field. Is the field v grass difference causing them to be unable to breed? Or is there something else that I just don't know about? I figured them sharing the monster group was enough.

btw, the message is "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon more than with each other", which according to all sources means that they definitely will NEVER breed.

This is very strange indeed since both Bulbasaur and Whismur are in the Monster Egg Group like you said. They don't both have the same Gender do they?

Because if they both have the same Gender they are incompatible and therefore will not produce an Egg.

Maybe your game is just glitched. Either that, or the Pokemon are the same gender.

That shouldn't really be happening. They are in the same egg group, they only need to share one egg group, so that should be fine.

Unless they are the same gender I wouldn't know what to tell you.

>Different Egg Groups, same genders or Undiscovered group:
The Pokémon are incompatible and therefore will not make an Egg. The Day-Care Man will say: "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon than each other."

This is the only situation in which, according to Bulbapedia, it gives you that "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon than each other." message.

Maybe it's a glitch or something like that.
