When a Pokémon with Magician hits another Pokémon with a move, it will steal the held item of the Pokémon that it hit. Future Sight and Doom Desire do not activate the Ability. Bulbapedia

So basically, when you are in battle, and you use a move, such as Earthquake, you will steal the opponent's item.

Hope I helped!!

Symbiosis is out of the question, it does the exact opposite of Magician, giving the target an item instead of taking it.

Now, Magician and Picpocket are similar, but ot identical.

Magician

The Pokémon steals the held item of a Pokémon it hits with a move.

Pickpocket

Steals an item when hit by another Pokémon.

a Pokemon with magician steals the opponent's item when it hits it with a move.
a Pokemon with Pickpocket steals th opponent's item when the opponent hits it with a move.
