How do you get Gems in Pokemon X/Y?

The only way to obtain Type Gems in XY is by using a Powersaves device, thereby making the item illegal for use in Official Tournaments and competitions. Without using that device, there is no way to obtain type gems bar the Normal Gem in XY.
