Can you use older pokemon games on the 3ds?

Yes they will, since nintendo said that the pokemon black and white games will work on the 3ds I guess that older games will work too

Just remember the games specifically design for 3DS won't be able to be played on any other DS system unless specified.

Yes, the 3DS will be backwards compatible with DS games, but there won't be the 3-D effect for them; only for the 3DS games.
