Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What are some of the best move combos in Pokemon you have found? (page 7)

140 votes

I breed pokemon in the game and am pretty good at IVs and EVs and such. I have thought of a few good tactics, such as

  • Safe Guard and Outrage/Petal Dance/Thrash (avoids confusion ailment)
  • Mimic and Imprison (permanent Disables last move)
  • Swagger/Flatter and Psych Up/Haze (either gives you upped stats or resets theirs)
  • Defense Curl followed by Roll Out (makes roll out stronger)
  • Rain Dance and Thunder (Thunder never misses)
  • Belly Drum and Rest (works best with a chesto berry. Maximizes attack)
  • Sunny Day and Solar Beam (solar beam no longer needs to charge)
  • Endure and Flail/Reversal (makes the attack moves really strong compared to normal)

What are some of the best move combos that you have found so far? :D
Explain your choices, and why they make good combos.

Please read all the answers before posting, to avoid duplicate answers. Yes, all 100+ of them.

And no full on movesets either, there are separate questions for that :-)

One more flaw is if the move is like rock blast or ice shard and can break sturdy.
That is true.
We already have that combo listed.
Oh. Thanks. (So it *is* a "combo"!)
Wow I never thought this would pass 110...

I thought of a pretty good one for an atk/def ev trained snorlax:
Try having:
Rest
Sleep Talk
Hyper beam
Any other overpowered move.....for hyper beam an your other op move, scope/zoom lens would be a pretty good thing to add just in case.

Only downside to this combo it that sleep talk has a chance to use rest again which would be useless.lol

Giga Impact is better since Snorlax has higher Attack than Sp. Atk.

Well I LOVE this set with a Pokemon with like Weavile or something
Moveset is Swagger, Psych Up, Punishment, and a plain solid attacking move like Slash or Ice Punch. First, use Swagger, Then use either Swagger Again or use Psych up, Third use Psych Up if you used Swagger Last turn or go with Punishment makes it DEADLY on a Pokemon
like Weavile lots of Pokemon can use it which makes it nice so yeah

Swagger/Flattter+Defog

answered Dec 10, 2011 by Aura Warrior
That is totally unnecessary; you could always use Confuse Ray to match with that combo way better.
Also, the point of Swagger is that when they are confused and hit themselves, the +2 Stage Attack will deal more damage.
first off what about Pokemon who cant learn confuse ray.Secondly what about when they snap out of confusion they will have +2attack and you don't want that.Thirdly they don't always hit themselves so its still going to hurt. This is mostly for Pokemon who cant learn confuse ray

How about fling + theif. It works good with a poison heal pokemon when your using a toxic orb. You get the poison heal and you toxic a pokemon when you fling then steal their item and make it gone by flinging it.

Here is a trick I found you can use in a double/triple battle. Get a Preferably Tauros and Vigoroth, give Vigoroth focus energy and fury swipes, also maybe give it a scope lens, and after you use focus energy, use fury swipes on Tauros, Anger point will activate, And tauros will be at +6 Attack!

answered Jan 7, 2012 by Chikyrocks10
But surely then you cut down on Tauros' HP massively by giving him a critical hit move...
Naw, give vigoroth 0 ATK EVs and 0 ATK IVs if possible, and maybe give Tauros some defense EVs.

Bulk-up+Drain-punch and priority if you can. Gallade, Conkeldurr, and Toxicroak work well with this

Possibly the greatest combo in all of Pokemon.
Credit to DT: http://pokemondb.net/pokebase/10312/i-may-have-a-plan-for-shedinja and Pwnyta.

Ok, so start in a double battle with Shedinja and a Pokemon (Preferably Porygon2) that can has Trace.
If that Pokemon is Porygon2, It can use Conversion2 as well and then pass it to whoever.
Shedinja is used for Trace making the ability Wonder Guard. Infact, you could have any ability.

Pass it to a Pokemon with a weakness and start sweeping! I do not know if this will work on Spiritomb or Sableye.

NORMAL - (68)
NORMAL GHOST (0)
WATER GROUND (9)
WATER DRAGON (2)
ELECTRIC - (26)
POISON DARK (3)
PSYCHIC DARK (0)
BUG STEEL (6)
Some Dual types that have one weakness.

Wonder Guard can't be role played, only traced.

Still, status things such as poison and burn would affect the pokemon.  Weather would also affect them as well.  Really cool, though.

Double strategy.

Have two Pokemon. Have one know Skill-swap and the other have the ability Intimidate. When sent out they will cut the opponents Attack. Then use Skill-swap and they will lower there Attack again. You can repeat this process again and again thus crippling users of Rock-slide, Earthquake Etc.

+

Note: This strategy can work with any pair with Intimidate and Skill-swap, Scrafty and Alakazam are not required.

I would recommend having one of the Pokemon that you use being able to take on Special attackers as well to make it more effective.
multi hit moves: EQ, surf, have their power reduced by 25% in doubles/triples
Earthquake and Rock-slide are still very common, they can still be fairly strong Intimidate really helps sometimes.

Give Blissey Simple. Calm Mind yourself and have some fun.
Pwnyta: Simple Manaphy with Tail Glow.
Simple Volcarona with Quiver Dance.

Best Way to beat Josh?
In a Rain team the lead is usually Politoed so, lead with a Cofagrigus and get them to attack you thus making their ability Mummy.
Switch to an Instant weather Pokemon.

answered Feb 12, 2012 by Ninja
I am making a team with Cofagrigus as it's lead! Although I think that Mummy is only passed when the user touches the Pokemon with Mummy; correct me if I'm wrong.
I run specialtoed 90% of the time :D

Here is a deadly combination for defending! Set a Zoroark to the first slot of your party and set a Giratina (Origin-Form) to the sixth slot of your party! In a battle against a friend, Zoroark will transform into Giratina using it's ability Illusion! Zoroark's only weakness is the Fighting-Type, but the opponent will think that Zoroark is the real Giratina!!! So if the opponent tries to use a Ghost or Dark-Type move on what they think is Giratina, it won't be very effective! Also, they know that Fighting-Type moves don't effect what they think is Giratina, so they won't use Fighting-Type moves on Zoroark! It's also a bit funny if you think about it because your tricking your friend!!!

Dark type pokemon have also weakness to Bug ;-)
yea but bug is not very effective on ghost so no one would use it
You could also use gengar with 4x resistance to bug and fighting immunity + people wont use earthquake because of levitate EDIT: if they use psychic attacks because they think its super effective but i doesn't have an effect on Zoroark

In front of Ditto, use aPokemon with the ability Pressure.
This way, when Ditto uses Transform, and gets 5/n PP of our moves, we can quickly end the foe Ditto's PP supply.

This makes Ditto start using Struggle faster, and the recoil finishes it off, if you do not.

Good Pokemon for this : Spiritomb, which can resist most of its own attacks.

Beware of Leppa Berries.

Happy Ditto Annoying. :)

answered Apr 20, 2012 by ~Infinity
This is not a very good strategy as most Ditto run imposter.

This one works real well to cripple entire teams. Involves Stealth Rock, Aggron / Tyranitar, Roar, and Toxic / Thunder Wave.

Turn 1: Lead with Tyranitar / Aggron, and use Stealth Rock. Make sure he has BULK.

Turn 2: Use Status inflicter.

Turn 3: Use Roar.

Turn 4: Return to step 2.

Note: Skarmory can also do this with Whirlwind.
Note: Use Aggron for the low tier, and Tyranitar is OU, unfortunately.

Alright so you need a gliscor
Gliscor@flying gem
Acrobatics
The others don't matter

Absol@ life orb
Use a standard set but replace a move for toxic

This is a doubles stradegy.
Gliscor get poisoned by absol activating poison heal and it can still acro with flying gem and they are a pretty good core.

answered Sep 12, 2012 by Absol
For Gliscor you would want the other moved to be substitute ( for use after toxic is used), swords dance, and earthquake.
