Surf or Scald for Blastoise?

This is in-game. Please note that in-game there are not many double battles in-game so scald maybe better.There is also a good burn chance.Whereas Surf has more power. AND I have another Pokemon who has learnt Surf as coverage move.

Your instinct of Scald is a better one in my opinion for the following reasons:
1) the difference in power between Surf and Scald is rather small. Surf with 90 power and Scald with 80 power
2) You mentioned you have another Pokémon learning Surf thus making it redundant to teach Blastoise Surf.
3) The added effect of 30% chance of burning your opponent further assists Blastoise with its usual role as a mixed tank.

Ok, if you are playing a non mega blastoise, the answer is most definitely scald, but if it's mega, run water pulse to take advantage of Mega Launcher.

Scald it has a 30% chance to burn which is great 80 power, Surf has no chance to burn and 90 damage, I would pick Scald Just because of the burn chance. Hope this helps!
