Friend Safari codes are not working?

I recently added a bunch of friend codes via the internet. When I went directly back to my game, they weren't there. What happened? Is there something missing?

It is possible that they need to add you. Some people do have that option enabled. Make sure you give those people your Friend code and In Game Name.
