Lol... do you want to ask 493 pokemon and its move set?
Hi trachy, thanks for populating PokeBase with some good questions. Can I ask you to:
(a) Not ask similar questions too quickly. These are good questions but the front page is now full of "is this a good moveset" questions, I'd prefer some variety if possible. :)
(b) When you do ask them, please can you include the pokemon name in the tags? For example I just changed this one to "moveset golduck". It just makes things easier for others to find questions.
Thanks for being a good member so far!
:) Sorry. I've been trying to ask the questions only when there has been to one asking questions for a time. I want to completely complete the game. That includes getting all my Pokemon to level 100. From now on though, I'll include names in tags and only ask one or two of these questions an hour if there have been no new questions.
Thanks for understanding. As long as half the questions are a variety and don't look the same, I'm happy :)

Golduck (M) @ Life Orb

Role: Weather Patrol

Trait: Cloud Nine

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

  • Surf
  • Hidden Power [Fighting]
  • Psyshock
  • Hypnosis

Surf Taking down Hippowdon and Ninetails, and HP Fighting Taking Down T-tar and Abomasnow.

Very similar to Trachy's, only special with different coverage.

Psyshock for any Heft Special Defenders, and Hypnosis is just plain annoying.

Why not Focus Blast instead of HP Fighting?
^ Probably because of better accuracy.

That is probably the best moveset for golduck unless it would be

possable to teach it mud bomb instead of dig becuase its special

attack is highier.

Your set up is great, but brick break or shadow claw would be nice instead of dig.

Gen V

Golduck (M) @ Expert Belt

Trait: Cloud Nine

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Low Kick
  • Waterfall
  • Shadow Claw
  • Psych Up

Low Kick takes down Tyranitar and Abomasnow. Waterfall deals with Hippowdon and Ninetales. Shadow Claw is just there for type coverage, and Psych Up can make Golduck more formidable sometimes. Expert Belt helps you deal more damage to the instant weather Pokemon (except for Politoed, that Pokemon will be a bit more difficult, hopefully Shadow Claw gets a crit). Your EVs should allow you to outspeed them and then take them down.

Gen III

Golduck (M) @ Leftovers

Ability: Cloud Nine

EVs: 88 HP / 128 Def / 64 SAtk / 128 SDef / 100 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Calm Mind
  • Ice Beam
  • Hydro Pump
  • Substitute

I'm gonna be quick with this one hopefully, as he's pretty self explanitory.

He can Use substitute, and get a decently beefy sub, He has Calm Mind to make him bulkier, and have higher Special Attack, which is a great thing to have.

He needs Hydro Pump to actually do something to most opponents, so we just have to ignore the lame accuracy, and Ice Beam is a high accuracy coverage move for Grass types, Flying types, and those annoying Dragons.

Double/Triple Battle

Golduck (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Cloud Nine
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Soak
- Ice Beam/Blizzard
- Hidden Power [Electric]

There are better Water types out there, but Golduck gets Cloud Nine, so yeah... Surf is STAB and hits multiple Pokemon. HP Electric and Ice Beam are coverage. Blizzard can be used over Ice Beam due to more power and hitting multiple Pokemon. However, you won't be getting Hail to help out that accuacy, so you'll have to rely on Victini, Gravity, or 70% accuracy. Soak is used to help out Pokemon with a crippling x4 weakness.

Psyduck @ Leftovers
Ability: Cloud Nine
Modest

Water Pulse: STAB, average power, doesn't harm team mate like Surf, and is accurate and has plenty of PP unlike Hydro Pump, plus it causes confusion
Psychic: Coverage, and because hes a PSYduck :P
Ice Beam: Coverage, especially Grass type
Mud Bomb: Takes out Electric's

Golduck @ Leftovers
Ability: Cloud Nine
Modest

Surf: STAB, great power, takes out several pokemon
Psyshock: Sine all your over moves attack the Sp. Def, why not go for Def, incase theres a bulky Sp. Def
Ice Beam: Grass=Faint
Mud Bomb: don't have to worry about electrics no more

Well, here's a Golduck no one would really expect

Bulky Stall Golduck
Bold nature
Ability: Cloud Nine
Item Held: Leftovers
EVs 252 Def 252 HP 4 Sp. Atk
Moves
-Scald STAB, chance to burn, and will increase your Def
-Mud bomb, lowers accuracy, annoying the opponent so they can hardly ever atttack and deals with Electric types
-Calm Mind. Boosts Sp. Atk. and Sp. Def with Scald and Mud Bomb
-Substitute Creates a temporary replacement so you can be safe while attacking and gaining stats and HP.

Okay, not everyone would okay with a Golduck that can pass off as Bulky, but it can. Here, you attack by gaining your defenses up. Scald takes care of those who are NOT fire type or have Water Veil as an ability, those will be your counters that can NOT get burned. Well, we can resort to Mud Bomb as well, so long as they are NOT flying type and/or have Keen Eye/White Smoke/Clear Body as their ability. So if you are lucky to bypass with a Burn and/or lowered accuracy, then you can utitlize by setting up Calm Mind to enhance the Special side offensively and defensively, and Substitute, so you can have a decoy, especailly whether the opponent is struggling to make an attack, try to use a defensive/supportive move, or switch out, at least the Special Boost and Substitute will aid you there.

Well my Golduck excels in special attack

Surf
Ice Beam
Calm Mind
Psyshock

Surf for the obvious reason that its STAB and high power and accuracy
Ice beam takes care of Dragons, Ground and Flying types
Calm Mind for some extra power
Psyshock for coverage on Fighting and Poison types

I gave him an Expert Belt so that he will have enough power to OHKO most of his opponents

I love my Golduck dearly! I have one on my main team in Pearl, and it is my anchor, my toughest Pokemon :D I recommend:

Surf (Hits 2 foes in double battles, water advantage)
Focus Blast (Fighting advantage, but low accuracy)
Screech (Sharply lowers defense of foe)
Dig (Great dodge tactic, ground advantage)

I was having a real hard time with Lucian's team in Pearl and my Weavile can't take them all alone. Without a fire type to deal with Bronzong, I went with this alternative. Focus Blast offers a way to attack steel and grass types. Dig is great against electric types and it a great dodging tool. If timed right, when fighting Bertha from the Elite Four, using dig after her Quagsire uses dig, makes its attack miss but your's will hit. Screech is great for any opponent, especially grass and steel types. Get Golduck's speed as high as it can possibly go, because that helps too.

It can learn plenty of other moves, and the only other one I suggest is Shadow Claw.
