What is a good moveset for Weezing?

2 votes

Just got it in a trade and it needs improvement. It knows:

Poison Gas: No idea why it knows this. This move is horrible. However, I don't know if I should get in Toxic or not.

Sludge Bomb: Good power, high accuracy, good chance to poison the opponent, STAB

Shadow Ball: Good power, high accuracy, decent chance to decrease SP. Def, used to deal with Psychic types

Dark Pulse: Good power, high accuracy, decent chance to cause flinching, used to deal with Psychic types

Weezing Learnset

A good move set would be...

sluge bomb-high poisioning rate

shadow ball-to take out psychics'

gyro ball-because of its terrible speed

fire blast-to burn and if one hp left on opponent the burn will take it out

Disruptor set: This is made specifically for countering annoying or threatening pokemon.

Destiny Bond-Last ditch.

Pain Split-Cuts through health nicely.

Clear Smog/Haze-eliminates stat changes.

shadow ball/flamethrower/thunderbolt/sludge bomb/venom shock/other-Coverage move depending on what you need.

Weezing (M) @ Salac Berry

description

Role: Tank who takes e'm down with e'm

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 12 HP / 16 SAtk / 32 Def / 252 SDef / 196 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

  • Destiny Bond
  • Thunderbolt
  • Hidden Power [Ice]
  • Taunt

HP Ice and Thunderbolt, Like a mini bolt beamer!

Now with other Utilities, he can taunt foes, into nailing him, eventually activating his salac berry, now he outspeeds them, and takes them down with him, they being forced to attack due to taunt.

Gen V

Weezing (M) @ Black Sludge

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Clear Smog
  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Thunder
  • Fire Blast

Clear Smog is a nice move that does damage and removes the opponents stat modifications (however, it does not remove the attack drop from burn.) This is a very handy move to have, and it even gets STAB. Will-o-wisp burns the foe, reducing their Attack and making Weezing bulkier. Fire Blast deals with the Steel types who are immune to Clear Smog. Thunder is for use in Rain, as Rain will reduce the effectiveness of Fire Blast on Steel types. Note also that in the Sun, Thunder decreases in accuracy, but Fire Blast increases in power. The EVs give Weezing bulk (as does Black Sludge) and a decent enough Special Attack stat. Your Special Attack still won't be amazing, but the high base power for Thunder and Fire Blast makes up for that.

EVs: 252 S.Defense, 200 Hp, 58 S.Attack

Will-o-wisp
Stockpile
Pain-split
Fire-blast/Thunderbolt

Will-o-wisp increases his defense and damages. Stockpile boosts defenses. Pain-split heals. Fire-blast or Thunderbolt for a coverage move.

Instead of poison gas, maybe falmethrower, fire covers a lot of types and its a fairly good move.

Weezing (M) @ Black Sludge

Role: Physical Wall
Trait: Levitate

EVs: 96 HP / 252 Def / 160 SAtk

Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)

  • Pain Split
  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Flamethrower / Sludge Bomb / Thunderbolt
  • Haze / Clear Smog

This is the set I use in my Hail team. Pain Split recovers off damage, and is really nice when you predict their switch into a fully health Pokemon, and get all your HP back.

Will-O-Wisp cripples physical Pokemon, which is what this set is all about: Physical Walling.

Flamethrower is nice for coverage. Just add whatever coverage you need for your team. You can also use Hidden Power if Weezing doesn't have the type you need.

I like to use Haze because it affects all types. However, it gets blocked by Taunt. Clear Smog gets STAB and does damage, but doesn't work on Steel types.
