Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Rotom (Wash form)?

5 votes

I placed this here since all the forms were not in place, and putting all the rotom sets on the "all forms" question would get very jumbled.

item: Wide Lens
EV; 128 def 128 sp. def 252 hp
Modest nature
-Hydro Pump
-Volt Switch/Pain Split
The Unbeatable Laundry Rotom Loadout
Item: Leftovers
Modest Nature / EVs: HP / Defense / Speed)

Hydro Pump ( The STAB, Good For Taking Out Most Targets)
Will - O - Wisp (Good For Sweeping Off Grass Types)
Rain Dance (Setting Up The Hydro Pump...)
Thunderbolt (Good For Sweeping Pokemon Off There Feet)

This Moveset Goes VERY Well With Taking Down Most Targets, Leftovers Can Make Rotom VERY Tanky. For Online Playing, Hydro Pump's Amazing Power With The Modest Sp. Attack Boost. The Rest Of The Moveset Is Very Good For Sweeping, I Would Say That U Can Switch Rain Dance With Dark Pulse But Its Your Choice...

Role: Sweeper
JakeygamesTK, your comment should probably be an answer.
If you are setting up Rain Dance, then you could use Thunder instead of Thunderbolt. It gives extra power, and always hits when its raining.

Wash Rotom @ Choice Scarf

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

  • Volt Switch/Thunderbolt
  • Trick
  • Hidden Power [Ice]/Hidden Power [Fire]
  • Hydro Pump

This set makes a great lead.
Volt Switch is there for STAB scouting, if this set is used as a lead, Volt Switch is probably the better option, if not Thunderbolt is also a good option here. Trick to get away your choice scarf, can lock your opponent into a stat powering up move or such.
HP Ice gives some nice coverage against dragons while HP Fire gives some nice coverage against scizor and ferrothorn.
Both counters Rotom Wash's only weakness that being grass.
Hydro Pump makes for dual STAB.

That trick moveset is evil

I think this is my favorite Rotom form, because it's kinda like Lanturn with only one weakness, thanks to Levitate.

Item: Damp Rock

Rain Dance: this will set up...

Thunder + Hydro Pump: Both powerful STAB moves boosted by Rain Dance.

Signal Beam: Still gotta deal with those Grass-types, and this is Rotom's only super effective move against them. It's pretty good, all things considered. Decent power, plus can cause Confusion? Sounds good to me!

Interesting, I'll go with this set for Rotom-W!
Exactly what I use. Vote up!
how do you get signal beam on rotom in pokemon xy?
Nooooooooooooo signal beam is a transfer move!!!!
I love this moveset for rotomW but i think the wide lens would be a better option for this rotom because thunder and hydro pump have pretty bad accuracy
Hey did u know that raining weather raises the accuracy of thunder to 100? That's what this guy means by his genius idea

with Wide Lens

EV's : Sp.Att and HP

  • Hydro Pump
  • Hex/Shadow Ball
  • Toxic/Thunder Wave/HP [Ice]/HP [Fire]
  • Thunder

Hydro Pump = STAB .With Wide Lens is more reliable .
Hex is powered up with Toxic/Thunder Wave.Go with Shadow Ball if you want coverage by
HP [Ice]/HP [Fire] .
Toxic powers up Hex while damaging the foe and Thunder Wave causes paralysis. If you want coverage go with HP [Ice]/HP [Fire].
Thunder = STAB .With Wide Lens is more reliable .

Zoom Lens = Higher Crit rate, not higher accuracy. That's Wide Lens.

And if you're running a low acc Wide Lens set, replace Thunderbolt with Thunder.
I mixed up the lenses and you are correct with the thunder

Well then, I think I'll post one here too.

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 212 HP / 96 SAtk / 200 SDef
Calm Nature
- Confuse Ray
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch

Saywut?? Confuse Ray for max trolliness, force a switch and burn the incoming poke. Hydro Pump, go big or go home. Volt Switch, Switch out. Specially defensive with decent HP and some hard hitting special attacks.

Physically Defensive Chesto-Rest Rotom (Wash)

Rotom-W @ Chesto Berry/Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
Bold Nature (+Def, -Att)
252 HP, 212 Def, 44 Speed

-Hydro Pump
-Volt Switch/Thunderbolt
-Will 'O' Wisp

This set excels at checking dangerous physically inclined threats like Gale Wings Talonflame by coming in on a resisted hit and either Volt Switch while they get forced out or Will o Wisp to burn. Rest is to heal off status and fully restore health. Hydro Pump to smack Talonflame, Tyranitar and the like. Against Blaziken, this is an excellent way to bait Blaziken into using High Jump Kick, before switching into a ghost to make it lose half its health.

EVs may seem weird but let me explain. Max HP is obvious to be as tanky as possible, while I put 44EVs into Speed to outspeed Jolly Azumarill to get a Will 'O' Wisp/Volt Switch off before it hits me with Play Rough. Remaining EVs are thrown into Defense to be a fearsome check to many physical attackers.

Rotom-W@ zap plate
ability: levitate
EV: 4Def,252 spd and spatk.
timid nature

  • Shadow Ball
  • Volt Switch
  • Thunderbolt
  • Hydro Pump

Shadow ball is for types that resist electric/water type attacks, thunderbolt & volt switch STAB, Thunderbolt is for more power, while Volt Switch is when you encounter Grass types, and hydro pump is for STAB

Mitt Rotomney (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
Pain Split is another form of recovery that Rotom gets other than rest. I prefer it over rest. Why? You don't fall asleep, you can use Leftovers instead of a Chesto Berry, and you also take health from the opponent. Will-O-Wisp is almost essential on a Rotom, because it cripples physical attackers and it allows it to stall more. Hydro Pump + Volt Switch are a staple to Rotom, Hydro Pump being very powerful STAB, and Volt Switch to flee, while still doing damage.

Nature: Calm(+SpD,-Atk)
Ev's: 252Hp, 128SpA, 128SpD
(I think the extra bulk helps more than speed, even with trick)

  • Trick
  • Will-o-Wisp
  • Hydro Pump
  • Volt Switch

Trick helps neuter those who try to set up on you as well as benefit you with a life orb boost or leftovers from the enemy, Will-o-wisp cripples physical attackers, Volt Switch gives stab-damage and a switch-out after trick or will-o-wisp, and hydro pump is your main damaging move.

He needs an item to Trick to them. I know that a Choice Scarf works very nicely against lead pokemon.

i gave mine:
-Hex (my starter starts with toxic spikes so hex works better than shadow ball)
-Hidden power (it's dragon type)
-Volt switch
- Hydro pump

item: wide lens.
may not be the smartest move set but for me, it works really great!

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Confuse Ray
- Thunder Wave

Very annoying set. Parafusion leaves the Pokemon a 62.5% chance to hurt itself/be paralyzed. Once you've crippled them with status, use Hydro Pump or Volt Switch if you can't do anything.
