lol Now it's |SentByRavens|.
I think this is a good moveset for salamence.

Dragon Claw

Item: Life Orb/Draco Plate/Sitrus Berry/Yache Berry/Cell Battery
Never put fly on a competitive pokemon cuz the oppenent could switch into a other pokemon that can take flying types
Do we have enough info to give him a mega evelution moveset
If you want a good Flying-type move on Salamence, do Hyper Voice. This strategy only works in the Gen. 3 Remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. If you Mega-Evolve it, it gets the Aerialate ability, which turns Hyper Voice into a Flying-type move.

I prefer Outrage to Dragon Claw, you can OHKO most pokemon instantly.
Salamence has pretty good Special Attack so you could easily use Flamethower or Fire Blast.
Fly is predicable and useless.

So I would go with:
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Flamethrower
- Crunch (to get super-effective against Psychics) or my old fave, Dragon Dance!

thats a good set but i think this is a salamence set

252 atk 252 spd 4hp jolly/ adament

ability:intimidate, item:life orb(full out physical attacker)

outrage(powerful + STAB)

earthquake(good against most pokemon trying to stop it)

dragon dance(to set up on annoying poke's)

brick break, thunder fang, head smash(brick break for walls aka damn BLISSEY thunder fang for water types carriying ice moves and head smash to be OVERPOWERED and for ice types or to just have fun when its 1 vs 1)

btw the thing that makes me angry is salamence is a dragon type yet it gets dragon dance through breedin but dumb arse pokemon like gyrados learn it leveling up
If you want a full out Physical Attacker, go with Moxie over Intimidate..
why no one suggest aerial ace?
How Do u Get Outrage on a salamence?
Why not use Fire Fang in place of Flamethrower.
@m-salamence08 its a mix set + its more accurate and is stronger

I felt the need to post this.

Vagina Dragon (F) @ Eviolite

Trait: Rock Head

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Dragon Dance
  • Dragon Claw / Double Edge / Outrage
  • Double-Edge / Brick Break
  • Shadow Claw / Zen Headbutt

Me being the one who came up with this nickname, I love my Shelgon.

Dragon Dance gets it's attack and speed boosted up, you're normally going to need to get 2, and evoilite gives you the bulk to be able to set 2 up.

Dragon Claw is STAB, powerful STAB at that.

The next slot is your first coverage option, while Brick Break lets you need be walled out by steel, in the tier that Shelgon is going to see use in, you won't have too many steel types.

Double Edge is 120 power, ( Equal to that of a STAB Dragon Claw ) and is just extra neutral coverage, a lot like Dragon Claw is.

Outrage is a back up STAB ( You don't have to even use STAB on this set ) if you want more power and to try to wipe through everything you can, at the cost of confusion.

Shadow Claw takes care of ghosts and psychics, and it gets generally good coverage with fighting type moves ( Yayz ) so yeah.

Zen Headbutt is for fighting and poison types primarily, and to flinch in a rough spot.

My reccomended set, with no variables, would be this.

Dragon Dance
Double Edge
Brick Break
Shadow Claw

And that's it for my Vagina Dragon!

Lol, Vagina Dragon. Why??
Have you looked at it...?
Make it male xD
It's a dragon, you guys confuse me why would you make it female? Same goes for just about all pokemon unless the pokemon only has one gender available
Do you not get the joke??? It's *sort of* bad
Well, actually pretty bad
Yeah everyone understands the name female...And just look at His face Is ''stuffed inside''

Salamence @ Life Orb (or other)
enter image description here

Ability: Moxie

EV's: 252 Atk/4 Sp. Atk/252 Spd

Nature: Naive (depending on what you want)

  • Draco Meteor
  • Outrage
  • Brick Break
  • Stone Edge

You may be wondering why I have a Special move with the nature I put down, but just hear me out. You send in Salamence, and when the opponent realizes that it has moxie, he switches to a physical wall. You use Draco Meteor and possibly KO, scoring you a moxie boost. Then all that is left is complete pownage with your other moves.

Salamence (F) @ Leftovers

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb

Role: Special Sweeper

Trait: Intimidate

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Flamethrower
  • Hydro Pump
  • Dragon Pulse
  • Hidden Power [Ground]

Hydro Pump for the Sheer Power of that Coverage, No since in Covering something if you can't OHKO it.

Flamethrower for the Icee's.
Dragon Pulse for that Beastly STAB, and HP Ground for further Coverage.

this is actually pretty good since most people expect that Salamence is a physical attacker...the downpart is that you have no weapon against a special defensive tank like Blissey...maybe HP Fighting, wich covers Ice, Rock and Normal and replace Flamethrower with something else

Nature- Adamant
@ Life Orb/Lum Berry

252 in ATTK, 252 in SPEED, and 4 into SP. ATTK.

-Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw (obligatory STAB move)
- Earthquake (nice coverage)
- Fire Blast (takes care of Flying/Levitating/Baloonists menaces; sans Heatran)

The gist is simple; use only a turn to power up, then proceed to tear your opponents up as your boosts rack up. ;D

Yeah but a fairy could 2HKO if not 1HKO Salamander Menace so get rid of Dragon Dance and put in Steel Wing because Moxie will probably be enough for attack boost. *Just saiyan...*
If Fire Blast's for Heatran, it's useless. Heatran gets Flash Fire.
lol... fireblast
i facepalm at it so many times XD

and get a better nature

One of the most used salamance sets at this moment in time.

Salamence (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Intimidate

Salamence @ Life Orb

Trait: Moxie

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)

  • Outrage/Dragon Claw
  • Fire Blast
  • Earthquake
  • Dragon Dance

Outrage and Dragon Claw are both good STABs, it depends on if you have Steel types covered already and think you can get rid of them.
Fire Blast hits Pokemon x4 weak to it like Scizor, and other Steel types as well.
Earthquake also hits Steel types, and has pretty good coverage.
Dragon Dance is nice setup move, and may result in a sweep.

I don't think it can have Moxie and Outrage right?
Indeed it can, Bagon got it in Dream World.
Hmmm, FIre Blast is a great move (besides the shaky accuracy), but why not Fire Fang?  It's Physical, epecially when running an Adamant nature.  I would only recommend Fire Blast if you are running a Mixed Sweeping Salamence.

Jade (Salamence) (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake/Brick Break

Fire Blast is Special coverage. Draco Meteor is Special STAB. Once you get a kill with that and your SpA halves, we have two physical moves to help us one for STAB and one for coverage, and Draco Meteor should be practically insta-kill, so we automatically switch to physical Moxie-Mence. Only 4 EVs make a decent 307 Attack at +0.

If you wish to have a Male one of these, name it 'GTFO.'

Nice set stell but im not sure there are pokes like garchomp that set up with dragon dance and would destroy sal's speed
Example sal Use's Draco meteror  Gar has Focus Slash  Adment Nature Garchomp use'sSword dance 2.0x Atk Garchomp use's Sweep

Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate --> Aerilate
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Atk / 56 SpD / 52 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Roost
- Return/Thrash

If this thing doesn't get banned, I don't know what will. The EV spread is something I stole from a YouTuber by the name of Pokeaim. Don't really recall what it's meant to take, but I do remember it being able to not have its sub broken by a Volt Switch from most Rotom-Wash sets.
Dragon Dance sets you up to godmode standards with an Aerilate boosted Return off of base 145 attack. Substitute and Roost lets you set up more, with Substitute also protecting you from status. Intimidate lets you set up on things more easily.

Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Moxie --> Aerilate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw/Dragon Dance/Outrage
- Return

Wallbreaker set. Fire Blast is there to surprise Ferrothorn and Scizor. It's a great idea to get a revenge kill to get a Moxie boost before Mega Evolving.

I run the second set with Dragon Dance. I use a Naive nature though, as Salamence now has a heavily boosted Defense.

I like,

dragon claw, advantage of good attack power, stab, weakness to dragon,

earthquake, advantage of good attack power, weakness to rock

Fire fang, advantage of good attack power, weakness to ice,

Fly, advantage of good attack power, stab.

answered Jul 19, 2010 by ohioscyther
Actually, Salamance has Excellent Special attack too, so flamethrower is MUCH better than fire fang
Flamethrower is definitely not much better than fire fang, in fact fire fang and flamethrower are equally strong (that said there's no nature or IVs or EVs that power up/lower one of the stats)
I would change fire fang to flamethrower....
atk base stat is 130 and fire fang has 65 power
sp atk base stat is 110 and flame thrower has 90 power

Item: Evolite
Ability: Overcoat
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 S.Defense, 200 Hp, 58 Defense

A Wall. Iron-Defense makes his already good Defense amazing. Dragon-claw has no immunities and 1 resistance which makes it very useful here. Toxic+Protect = EVIL.

I just noticed that Iron Defense can't be put on a DW Shelgon.
Why does it have evolite it doesn't evolve so it doesn't get a boost.
He meant to put Shelgon instead of Salamence
Yea PM edited it he should've been more careful :(

Item: Choice-scarf
Ability: Moxie
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Hp

Outrage + Choice-scarf + 405 Attack stat + STAB + Moxie = Death. Earthquake, Stone-edge, and Brick-break are Coverage moves.

Salamence having Outrage and Moxie is banned in some places. Also if you are playing against someone whom you know dislikes things like this then do not use it or else there may be a fight.

This is My Personal Salamance

Dragon Pulse
Iron Tail/Earthquake

Lots of people use Fire Blast or Flamethrower but I'm usin heat wave to defeat both enemies in battle also does more damage then flamethrower. My Salamance also is an Attacker and Sp Attacker so he's a Sweeper for my Team

Physical Sweeper Salamence. This is all physical, so Adamant. And no DW, since some people are too lazy to find a DW Bagon.

Salamence@Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Attack/252 Speed/4 SpDef (Most Ice moves are special)
Nature: Adamant nature (+Attack/-SpAttack)

Stone Edge (Type coverage)
Earthquake (Because Earthquake)
Dragon Rush (STAB, Coverage, Egg move)
Aerial Ace (STAB, Nevermiss attack)
