Shadow Claw: Better because of higher attack.

Will-o-wisp: Gives the foe Toxic burn, which also lowers attack.

Payback: Banette doesn't have too good of Speed so this will work well.

Thunderbolt: Good move to have. Surprise move.

Toxic Burn? Nintendo should really do this kind of status.

Why am I disliking so many of your Gen V movesets?
Because they all have crappy base power moves and absolutely no offensive capabilities. Trick Room and shadow sneak contradict each other, knock off only has a base power of god damn 20. Destiny bond is just a waste of this thing and shadow sneak is also terribly weak.
You obviously can't see how to use this set well.  You probably just  are one of those unskilled people who just sweep all the time. You should check the moveset and see how it works before posting a comment like this. Go back to the bench!
Thank you PB10.

Now then, some Pokemon shouldn't be trying to attack due to poor stats in some areas, or being better at doing other things. Take Banette. Destiny Bond works great with Trick Room. Banette has such poor defenses that it can't take a hit. Focus Sash allows it to take two hits. You set up Trick Room on the first turn, allowing you to move first in most cases since Banette is so slow. This means you can use Destiny Bond and defeat the foe, which then allows your team to make good use of Trick Room, especially if you manage to take down an important part of the foe's team. Knock Off provides further support, removing an item, which can help stop a Choice sweeper or get rid of a Wall's Leftovers healing. Shadow Sneak allows you to come in at any time and revenge kill the foe.
I just think that such a moveset is wasted potential and this is my problem. And, by the way, I've been pretty successful with sweeper-only teams.
Baneete is too slow and has too poor a physical attacking movepool to even be a good Trick Room sweeper. It has horrid defenses. The only way it can take down a foe (on Pokemon Online, where it matters) is through revenge killing or Destiny Bond.
Let's hear your moveset dr_clock, and let the public decide which is better.
dr_clock-Trachy's moveset tries to use more than just sweeping style. If you want a sweeper, there are plenty of pokemon that can do a better job than Banette. There's more to it than just pointblank sweeping.
Pointblank sweeping is bad. I honestly have no own moveset for Banette, what else should be my reason to look up this question?
I'm trying to get a living Pokédex in Gen V (that means having every Pokémon) but I try to have all existing pokémon on lvl 100, with an awesome nature, with awesome DVs and a beautiful moveset. And currently I'm almost done with all Gen V pokémon. Now stop discussing this. I said my opinion to one single person and >0 other persons defend here. There's a thing called freedom of speech, ye know?
dr_clock make that 3, i definitely agree with DT and trachy
make it 4
LoL 5, This is an awesome set. Thanks, Trachy!

Banette @ Focus Sash

Ability: Insomnia

EVs: 252 Atk

Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)

  • Shadow Claw
  • Sucker Punch/Return/Taunt
  • Destiny Bond
  • Trick Room

Shadow Claw is STAB and hits hard coming off of Banette's solid attack stat.
Sucker Punch is priority, if someone wants to mess with Banette. It also hits Normal types for neutral damage. Return gives some neutral coverage and has a decent 102 Base Power.
Taunt prevents opponents from being up to shenanigans like trying to Toxic Banette.
Destiny Bond takes down the opponent, and works well with Trick Room.
Trick Room takes advantage of low speed and helps Banette move first.
Banette's teammates should preferably benefit from Trick Room, and a spinner is greatly recommended to make sure the Sash works.

Not sure I agree with both a Dark type and Ghost type attack, considering they have the exact same coverage, except for Dark being able to hit Normal and Ghost not resisted by Fighting.
i see your point, but sucker punch is good as you can come on and finish of maybe a stat powered up sweepers before you set up trick room and it can hit normal types.
Why I said not sure. Priority makes up for redundant cverage.

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Cursed-body
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 Defense, 252 S.Defense, 6 Hp

Cotton-guard
Calm-mind
Thunderbolt/Hidden-power(Fighting)
Shadow-ball/Night-shade

Cotton-guard boost that pathetic Defense to amazing levels. Calm-mind boost that pathetic S.Defense and S.Attack. Thunderbolt or HP(Fighting) for coverage. Shadow-ball for STAB or Night-shade if you do not think you are going to get enough boosts to do a lot of damage or want to be able to hurt those high S.Defense and low HP Pokemon more.

Note: Will-o-Wisp is also a decent option on this set.
