Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Absol?

4 votes

Mine has the ability Super Luck. It knows:

Swords Dance: Greatly increases attack.

Sucker Punch: Overcomes Absol's lower Speed stat.

Psycho Cut: Deals with Fighting types. Critical hit ratio increased by Super Luck.

Will-o-wisp: Inflics toxic burn which helps with Absol's low Defense stat.

Although its not what you asked, if you give it scopelens or other crit-raising items and spam night slash or Psycho cut the crit- rate is amazing.
Absol (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Super Luck
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Superpower
Both Psycho Cut and Sucker Punch are physical, what are you talking about?
Umm ill be honest and say i dont have a absol.. but looking at it's moves i'd say
Phyco Cut
Night slash
slash
sword dance :/.. or not since absols attacks usually ko... might replace with stone edge ...
when i had absol in emerald mine died in 1 or 2 hits so i dont usually have the time to use sword dance o.o
Decent moveset, Mapleflage1. I'd replace Slash with Sucker Punch, and Psycho Cut with Superpower, and you're good to go.
Thats exactlly my Absol's moveset :D
Why do people ev train it in speed? Its speed only reachs 127 when max out at lvl 50(neutral nature)
VGC is for scrubs.

Meet Lucy the Absol. She packs a punch!
Absol (F)
Item: Absolite
Ability: Justified/Super Luck---->Magic Bounce
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
Moveset:
Night Slash
Flamethrower
Psyco Cut
Thunderbolt

Since Mega Absol's stats have increased her attack, sp.attack and speed, she can now pull off sp.moves for extra damage, which makes her move pool more open to more choices, and will cover alot of her weakness.
She can be good as a lead Pokemon if someone has a stealth rocker, to bounce those leathal stones back! Whahaha!
Night Slash for that stab boost
Flamethrower for that bug coverage
Psyco Cut for that fighting coverage
Thunderbolt to destroy any thats weak to electric
Or if you want (even though Mega Absol's speed is pretty good), use Sucker Punch instead of thunderbolt if you think that something may outspeed it.

What EVs do you recommend for this set?

I like using this set:

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Fire Blast

enter image description here

You could also use Swords dance instead of Knock off but you can get a boost from Justified already plus you have really high attack as it is so I rather use Knock off.

Knock Off is illegal with Play Rough.
yeah i checked /learn, they are illegal.

Gen VI

Role: Fast Physical Sweeper

enter image description hereenter image description hereenter image description hereenter image description here
enter image description hereenter image description hereenter image description hereenter image description here

Absol-Mega @ Absolite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
- Night Slash
- Superpower

Setup SD for more damage. Sucker Punch for Priority. Nightslash for STAB, Superpower for priority.

Disclaimer for XY Sprites: I do not own any of these sprites and I took them from PokemonShowdown's Sprite Database, seeing that the database can be accessed, I would guess this wouldnt be copyrighted but who knows?

answered by
Superpower doesn't have priority, although it does add good coverage.

This set outta work pretty nice, though i'm still working on some things to balance it out. This is my Absol's set so far in the making.

Absol (M) @ Absolite

EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd

-Play Rough
-Swords Dance
-Sucker Punch (?)
-Night Slash

Play Rough is coverage against most fighting-types that would be a problem for Absol, and Dragons, of course. It has a slight accuracy problem but it has a higher base attack power than the common Psycho Cut, and it hits Psychic/Fighting types for SE damage. Swords Dance is for if you ever get a chance to set up. Night Slash is STAB. Sucker Punch.... I plan to remove that but i'm not sure what move to replace it with. Maybe Will-o'-Wisp?

Absol @ Life Orb/Absolite
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Nature: Adamant (+Atk,-Sp. Atk)
-Rock Slide (Type Coverage)
-Psycho Cut (Covers Fighting weakness)
-Night Slash (STAB)
-Swords Dance (Damage Boost)

Okay...
What you want to do in this build is pair absol up with someone that knows the move Beat up and make that Pokemon use Beat up on Absol for a great damage boost.

This is definitely one of the best Absol movesets, both my friend and I have had a lot of success with it :D

Name: Absol
enter image description here
Ability: Super Luck (more crits)
Item: Razor Claw (more crits)
EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 HP
Nature: Jolly (+Speed -Sp. Attack)
Moveset:

1) Stone Edge
2) Psycho Cut
3) Swords Dance
4) Night Slash

Notes:
The aim of this setup is to get a ton of crits. Absol has the ability Super Luck, which increases the chance of crits. Razor Claw also increases the chance of crits. Stone Edge, Psycho Cut and Night Slash all also have an increased chance of landing a crit, making critical hits quite common. Absol is EV trained in Attack and has Swords Dance, both increasing Attack by a lot. Along with the Jolly nature which also aids Speed, Absol is EV trained in Speed, so it can setup and one hit KO faster.

Looks like no one's done one for gen VI yet so here it is, Mega Absol!

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Swords Dance
-Knock Off
-Play Rough
-Sucker Punch

So this is the Swords Dance set for Mega Absol...yeah. Justified is the best ability because you can get an attack boost by taking a resisted Dark attack before Mega Evolving. Max attack and speed to hit hard and fast after Swords Dance, Jolly Nature to outspeed things that would one-hit you otherwise. Swords dance is to set up (obviously), but since Mega absol is really frail with 65/60/60 defenses, you probably need to take advantage of Magic Bounce to set up on a support mon like Whimsicott. Knock off is Absol's most damaging move, but something like Night Slash can be used if Megas are an issue. Play Rough gives great coverage, and Sucker Punch is for things that outspeed it. Yeah.
