What is a good moveset for kyogre?

Since he has great special attack I was thinking,
Item, leftovers

Water spout, great to start battle, and great with leftovers, Stab, abbility.

hydro pump, Stab, ability,

calm mind, great stat move

ice beam, must have to beat dragon types(like the oh so common rayquaza.

Thunder: 100% accuracy with its ability, plus the chance to break through Protect and Detect (25% chance)

Surf: More reliable than Hydro Pump.

Ice Beam: Deals with Grass types.

Earthquake: Deals with electric types. Slow down please.

Does thunder really do that. If it does then awesome.
Go to serebii, off on the side go to weather effects, then go to Rain Dance.
Sorry, I didn't see weather effects on serabii.
Not going to answer this cuz trachy wrote the same thing I would have put.

Earthquake-electric weakness-don't mark me down because Kyogre has higher special attack, his physical attack is still very good!

Ice beam-cover grass weakness, more importantly, deals with Dragon types.

surf-STAB, good power

aqua ring/water spout/hydro pump/thunder

Kyogre @ Choice Specs

Trait: Drizzle

EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Water Spout
  • Thunder
  • Ice Beam
  • Surf

Water Spout is way powerful at full HP. Any Kyogre should have Thunder. Ice Beam gives coverage against dragons, Mainly. Works well along with Thunder and and the water type move.
Surf is for when Kyogre's heath fall later on.

Kyogre @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
EVs: 252 Hit Points, 252 Defense, 4 Special Attack

  • Calm Mind
  • Scald
  • Rest
  • Sleep Talk

Well it's obvious I'm forcing physical bulk with his EVs and nature here.
Calm Mind will then make up for the special bulk that he's lacking ( But he has a really nice base there ) and beef up that special attack some more. I chose Scald as my attacking move. The burn chance there is nice enough that I can have a solid water attack ( 120 after STAB, and that's not including rain boost ) that can keep doing damage while I'm spamming rest.
Sleep Talk makes for an annoying " Rest-Talk " combo. Hitting with Scald, or just building up power and bulk while I just kind of sit there sleeping.

The best moveset would still be the one that was named in Generation 3.

Kyogre

Item: Wise Glasses
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 128 Spd, 128 Sp. Def

Moveset:
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Thunder
-Calm Mind

Firstly, Calm Mind to raise Sp. Atk for the other three moves. It also raises Sp. Def for some protection from most Grass and Electric attacks.

Surf is STAB. Considering Sp. Atk is maxed out, the item is wise glasses, and Calm Mind is used, this attack does a hell lot of damage.

Ice Beam is another strong move to get rid of the danger of Grass types. It'll also help against Dragon types, which might know an Electric move.

Thunder is a stronger version of Thunderbolt. And considering Kyogre's ability is Drizzle, Thunder won't miss because of the rain. It's a strong move and is especially useful for other Water types, who may use Drizzle to their advantage.

My Gen3 Kyogre

Water Spout- BEAST

Sheer Cold- Cool (no pun intended move) move

Thunder- 100% accuracy

Double edge, or body slam. A strong physical fallback is good right?

Note this is probably the most awesome set you can get. Not Battle wise (and DEFINATLEY not PP wise!) but cool-wise. The moves are awesome and super strong. It's a Tear-through-Elite4-without-mercy moveset.

double edge lowers health water spout gets weaker when health is low.
sheercold should be replaced for ice beam to defeat the dragon elite
if you wat super strong moves go with hyper beam(because its gen 3) or earthquake
