Boomburst. Nuff said.

Chatot @ Life Orb
Ability: Tangled Feet
Nature: Timid / Modest
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

  • Chatter- STAB that confuses.
  • Boomburst- STAB. Hyper Beam with no recharge.
  • Heat Wave- Coverage.
  • Roost / Nasty Plot- Healing or guaranteed OHKO with Boomburst.

I tried breeding a heat wave zubat w/ a chatot, and it didn't work, so for now, it's boomburst OR heat wave
I love the idea, but Heat Wave involves PokeBank with most people don't have. Plus, it's defense is horrible. I know it's speed and sp. atk. cover for it but even with that high speed. Many things can defeat it in speed then sweep it. This would be HORRIBLE in smogon.

Boombird (Chatot) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Big Pecks
EVs: 84 HP / 252 SpA / 172 Spe
Timid Nature
- Boomburst / Substitute
- Chatter
- Heat Wave
- Nasty Plot

A Chatot on Pokemon Showdown I saw went trololololing my team and kept on chattering, confusing my Pokemon and making them not attack the foe. It was worse because I was also paralyzed too! He did this under a Sub and didn't even have Boomburst, which I would recommend for this set. Petaya berry raises your SpAtk when HP is 1/4 or lower, a great combo with nasty Plot the next turn.

Chatard (Chatot) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Tangled Feet
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 31 All
- Chatter (Flying Special Attack Move, 100% chance to confuse opponent, 100 Accuracy and 65 Power)
- Substitute (User takes 1/4 its max Hp to put a substitute)
- Boomburst ( Normal Special Attack Move, 140 Power with 100 Accuracy however hits adjacent Pokemon)
- Nasty Plot ( Raises the User's Sp atk by 2)

I called this the God Chatard Moveset. This is how this Pokemon works:
1) Two options for the first move, you either: Switch out if the opponent is a faster Pokemon or Use Chatter straight away

2) You then use substitute and hope for them to hit themselves. Two options again. If they don't hit themselves and destroy ur substitute repeat this step, but if they hit themselves use Nasty Plot

3) Now that ur stats are boosted keep spamming boomburst and chatter depending on what Pokemon ur versing

Note: If you want you can give Chatard heatwave but I personally think its unnecessary cause of Boombursts power. Also I would say you should have a ground type in your team because if your opponent pulls out a electric type that is faster then chatot ur screwed so straight away switch to that ground type. Item is leftovers cause when you use substitute you will need to recover back the health.

Gen 5 NU

Chatot @ Focus Sash
Ability: Tangled Feet
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Agility
- Hyper Voice
- Heat Wave
- Nasty Plot

This guy doesn't get Boomburst until Gen 6, so it has to settle for Hyper Voice as its STAB move. Agility and Nasty Plot boost Chatot's sweeping capabilities, and at least one is guaranteed because of Focus Sash. Heat Wave is coverage.

Uh....Defog doesn't clear hazards in gen 5 x(only in Gen 6 did it get the buff)
(Also I will never let you forget this)
Guess I'm more unfamiliar with some of these old gen mechanics than I thought. Oops.

Chatot @ Leftovers
Ability: Tangled Feet
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Chatter
- Encore
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot
The strategy is to use it in Sticky Webs. You should predict a switch into a ground type move, set up Encore, use Substitute, then use Nasty Plot, outspeed everything(hopefully), and sweep with Chatter, healing with Leftovers so you have enough HP to use Substitute, using Substitute when your Substitute is broken, setting up maybe another Nasty Plot or 2, and hopefully having them chip themselves in confusion. This set is a bit gimmicky, but when it works, it works well.
