Connecting two ds's locally?

How would i connect two ds's locally? For black and white, and then for a Gen V and Gen IV game? I am working with an original grey ds and a ds lite

Are you asking how to trade from ds to ds but like the ds are both like right in front of you?

You just put them close together (face to face is good) and it should work.
(P.S. I'm not sure if a Original DS would work with a DS Lite.)
