Question

I'm kind of confused. I know a Pokemon isn't legit if you used hacks like an AR to get it right? But how does the game know, and what's the rules with using them....and I'm just confused.
EDIT: a while ago my friend traded me a bunch of Pokemon, and only now he told me that they're not legitimate. What do I do?

Pokemon obtained through action replay are not acceptable in tournaments or official nintendo competitions since they mave have hacked stats, moves etc. But if using them for fun, don't worry about it. as long as you aren't a jerk about using them. (like having a whole party with all 999 stats and all are shiny)
