What is a good moveset for Vigoroth?

3 votes

Now then, Pokemaster doesn't want pre-evo Pokemon movesets. However, movesets of Slaking are mainly focused at overcoming Truant. Vigoroth, however, doesn't have that ability. Pokemaster, if this is not okay with you, can you hide it please? My Vigoroth knows:

Brick Break: Decent power, high accuracy, breaks through Light Screen and Reflect.

Crush Claw: Decent power, decent accuracy, STAB, 50% chance to lower defense.

Gunk Shot: High power, good chance to poison, this move will come as a surprise to most foes.

Bulk Up: Increases attack and defense, since Vigoroth is not fully evolved, most people will think it will just try to stall or attack, not both. This will surprise them.

Vigoroth (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Vital Spirit
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Ice Punch
  • Brick Break
  • Sucker Punch
  • ThunderPunch

He doesn't get STAB ( Yay, lets cover 0 types for super effective coverage! )
But he gets amazing coverage.
Bolt-Beam combo starts him out with Ice Punch and Thunder Punch, just owning stuff.
Ghost-Fighting coverage is noted for awesomeness, but Dark only covers one less type ( Or pokemon? ) so Sucker Punch is taken for it's 10 more base power, and priority.
Life orb + Adamant + Amazing chance for a super effective blow = Domination.

Heracross.
Congrats Speed you reached 36,000 :D
Thanks :)

Why Crush Claw over Return?
50% Defense lowering chance.
Still, Why go for a defense lower, instead if the OHKO when using a sweeper like him?

Item: Evolite
Ability: Vital-spirit
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 Defense, 200 S.Defense, 58 Attack

Amnesia
Slack-off
Return
Night-slash/Sucker-punch

Amnesia is for boosting that low S.Defense. Slack-off is for healing. Return is STAB. Night-slash/Sucker-punch is for covering Ghosts, you can choose reliability or Priority.

Pinch-berry+Endure

Item: Salac-berry/Liechi-berry
Nature: Lonely/Hasty
Ability: Vital-spirit
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Hp

Endure

Reversal

Flail

Earthquake or One of the Elemental punches (Thunder/Ice/Fire-punch)

This is one of the few Pokemon that learns Endure, Reversal, and Flail, put all that together and you get a pretty heavy hitter. Endure helps you to activate the Salac-berry to give you 413 speed! Or you can go Hasty for 306 Speed and give him the Liechi-berry to give him 383 Attack! So you get to choose between average Attack and Super High Speed or High Attack and Good Speed. Reversal is great coverage and has 200 base power at 4% - HP! Flail is STAB and also has 200 base power at 4% - HP! Now you get to choose your extra coverage move: Earthquake is strong and reliable but on this set you need to beware of flying types with high defense so Ice/Thunder-punch are good, Fire-punch would be there if you are afraid of Steel types without Ground or Fighting weakness. Enjoy your Vigoroth :)

Oh man, I ran this thing in MC one time! With Liechi, Hasty, and Sucker Punch ( I think it was Sucker Punch ) as the last slot.
