Ban Report - Do your part to help the site.

85 votes

Here is a place to report any serious wrongdoings- such as rule breaking- so that that person can be reviewed by the mods for a ban or warning. Please report people by explaining what they did; reporting a person with no evidence isn't going to get you anywhere. Only report people for doing the more serious things, such as using duplicate accounts, swearing, constant inappropriate image adding, that kind of thing. If someone is committing an offense that isn't as serious, such as mild spamming, just comment. If you are not reporting someone, don't comment on this page at all.

Remember, no joke reports and try to keep your posts civil.

Try to include chat logs (if needed) of the offenses when possible, although try to put them in a link rather then an image as images make the page run slow, eventually forcing us to delete past reports to stop the lag. We try to not delete the hidden posts of the ban report so that we have a database of offenses that we can refer to if somebody comes up on the ban report again, so having pictures and long chat logs can cause some eventual problems.

Be sure to add profile links. It does us moderators no good if profile links are not added as we do not enjoy digging through 20 point user pages to find one.

Here we go, something I longed to do for a while. Here's my ad:

(London to appeal to Sciz)

There are some people that I can say get on my nerves, but this guy has been on long enough. Much like my JCM ban, I'm proposing a ban to something that has to get out of not the site itself, but the DB server. TheCanisMajor has been on the server for too long. Pretty much gets entertainment by insulting and picking on other users for no apparent reason(just being a dick), makes things personal with specific users he picks on(Using my real name as a username on the server to spam "I'm a ****" and other redundant stuff, after I specifically told him never to say my name in chat). Various spams, swears, and pretty much every one dislikes him in a way. This is why his stay on the server has been too much. Witnesses can be asked about his **** character as I don't have screenshots, not like everyone knows anyways. And there were screenshots of him acting like a total ass when the server broke(ask Mudkip). I have talked to Ninja about this and he doesn't mind the ban, so this is going on Sciz's approval for this to be a permanent ban. Other authed persons and individuals that have experienced his character on chat can comment, but I'm not asking for your vote, only Sciz's.

You realise asking for tighter rules will get rid of the 'lax atmosphere'? One person's behaviour shouldn't ruin everyone elses time on the server. It's far easier to deal with that one person.
But almost everyone's like this, just to a lesser extent (including myself, as I said). I don't something REALLY tight (no jks pls), just more than what we do now. Prevention is always better than cure, Sciz.
I have to agree that the server tends to be way more laid back, which normally isn't a bad thing(some escape from the rules of the DB chat) but the DB chat rules are there for a reason and it IS kinda annoying that everyone is OK with breaking them constantly. Not saying we're all being hooligans or anything, but I've pretty much stopped bothering to tell people off for anything that isn't mute-worthy and I think everyone else has kinda done the same. It's overall just a less family-friendly chat room, like all Showdown servers.
Canis reminds me of pooka, am i the only one?
Not gonna go against whatever ruling is stated, but what irks me is the inconsistency of all of us, myself included. We ban such users like Sofa for being bad users, yet in reality, many of our current users that traffic the server do exactly the same thing. The difference? We simply like them more than the users we ban.

I'm not mentioning people out of hatred or because I believe they should be banned; no. I am bringing them up as an example to what I am talking about. Peeka is the first to come to mind. Great user (dont tell him I said that), but he's also been someone to do exactly what sofa does: be a dick. He's been a general douche to chat users from here who decide to visit the server, using many derogatory terms, such as "scrub" or "fgt". Are chat users that much less important than an authoritative figure on the server?

Which brings me to my next point: where is the difference? I know as clear as day I troll the way sofa does. Ask around on the server. I troll with many server usuals, such as, but not limited to Sir Mudkip, CWegz, NonePiece, Peeka, Mike, etc. Sure, not all of you troll along with me in the same derogatory fashion, but what justification do I get, or users that troll along with me? Is it because it was defined clearly as a joke amongst users who could handle it?

If so, then i believe sofa's trigger point for the ban is slightly unjustified. Sure, he was trolling Mike and Kazemon, but at that point, where a warning was already given, we as auth have other tools to stop an user from provoking these types of situations, such as muting them or locking them. As for the insults, we must also bring up the point that lead to this.

While sofa was trolling mike and kazemon, mike purposely banned, unbanned, and then locked sofa, as his way to show sofa to stop. However, after a conversation with mike, he claimed he did this in a jokingly manner, but sofa got butthurt. This lead to the use of mike's private info and sofa spamming derogatory terms about mike. Thus, it leads to mike getting butthurt as well, and causing this trigger point.

Which brings me back to an earlier point: If it's defined as a joke, should we ban or punish for such actions. Apparently, some users aren't close enough to find themselves at a point to accept all "trolling amongst each other" quite well. If it shouldn't be a bannable offense, where do we draw a fine line of this case and other incidents, such as ones provided above?

Tl;dr  no tldr for you. Read the whole thing.
