Meta-PokéBase Q&A

Hi,

My latest project is an open-source, not-for-profit reproduction of the Pokemon games in Java. I don't have to tell you that there is a lot of data behind the game mechanics. I am hoping to get either a copy of or access to the database(s) where Pokemon and move information is stored. Specifically, I'm looking for Pokemon stats, evolution mappings, move-learning mappings, move-compatibility mappings, move data, etc. I don't want to reinvent the wheel (and waste time!) by entering all the data from each web page into a database I create.

If it is allowed on this forum, please respond via email; you should be able to find it by knowing my account name. If not, I'll be checking back to this thread periodically.

Thanks

This isn't a Forum. Its a Q&A

I have had several requests for this sort of stuff and I'd be happy to release it. However, it would take a bit of effort to get it to a clean enough state to export into a simple format. And I wouldn't include stuff like extended descriptions for moves/abilities as those are my own work. But maybe I will get round to it in the future when I have time!

There are some other sites that publish their data, try http://veekun.com - it's a bit complicated but you can probably make sense of it.
