Suggestion: KidSwagg! for Super Administrator.

Come on, he's perfect! He's never caused trouble, never insulted anyone, and is an all around amazing user. Some reasons for this are:

Never caused trouble

Everyone likes him

This is a troll part, read below.

My real suggestion is that we are able to choose the background colour or design of the site, such as I've seen on other sites. It gives options, such as "Snivy Green" or "Zekrom Black," etc.

In my opinion this would make the site look very colourful. I know it's simply a question and answer site, but still. People eat that stuff up.

Mono Smeargle Metronome Tournament!

Sort of like a combination between Riles' tournament idea, as well as my first tournament host.

Mono-Smeargle Metronome Tournament!

The object of the tournament is to create a team of Smeargle, and they must ALL know Metronome. And only that move. And to make it more fun and agitating:

Rules:

16 users can participate.

Only Smeargle is allowed. A team of 6 is needed.

All Smeargle must have Metronome as their only moves.

The only permitted item is the Leppa Berry.

You may mess around with EVs, Natures, and IVs however you wish.

The best part about the tournament: you must have the ability Moody on all Smeargle. Due to the random stat dropping and raising, more tension is created on the player than ever before!

If you or your opponent get the moves Taunt or Imprison, restart the battle.

1 battle only.

Both Pokemon Online and Showdown are allowed. If you use Pokemon Online, remember to turn off Species Clause. Showdown users can battle in the Hackmons tier.

Signup should look like this:

- Username: Mewderator
- PO Name: Mewderator
- Showdown Name: TestingAlt123
- Times Available: 7 PM - 12 AM EST
- Timezine: EST

Good Luck to All!

Suggestion: Give Mods the power to change Usernames from the DB NameRater?

As Pm's dad has had a major accident (we're all very sorry Pm, we understand your situation), Pm has been even less active than has was before. Because of this, the Name-Rater has been totally clogged up (with 22 requests as of now). This will keep on rising until someday, Pm comes on and changes it all. By then I'm pretty sure it would be about 50 requests :P

So here's my solution and suggestion. Give mods the ability to change names. This would speed the name-rater up by a great deal, and will stop the annoying complaints. It will also take the load of Pm's back to know that his mods are doing his work for him :D

So yeah, hope you guys like this. I think it would benefit the DB greatly. Yeah, that's it :P

QUICK EDIT: maybe Editors could get the power too, as soon as Hex, Ben, Blob and Fizz gt Editor which I'm strongly in hope of. Anyway, just lemme know what you think ;]

Chat Suggestion: Ignoring users.

This has been suggested and turned down so many times. Why?

How it works

Have a command like /ignore [username] and /unignore [username] or something like a x beside a person's username. Once activated, you cannot see that users posts. Simple. For people who haven't ignored that user, they can still see them chat. You can have the option to tell the person that you've been ignored. But either way, if the person hasnt ignored you and you have, the person can still see you chat, so I guess you could tell the person that way.

PROS

~ Annoying ass users can technically be kicked without having to have a moderator there.
~ If you want peace and quiet, this can be the tool to use.
~ If you just really dislike/never get along with someone, this is the tool for you.
~ You cannot ignore authority, so then they will be able to enforce rules.

Cons

~ People can miss parts of the chat, but it's on them for ignoring that user. Its not big of a deal anyways.
~ It can cause feuds off chat.

Suggestion: a Dual Type app to let you find what types a Pokemon is strong and weak to

Not quite like the Dual Type Chart, but yeah, just kind of different. So like, basically, it's an app you go to and you select two type combinations for a Pokemon, and it will say what types that Pokemon would be weak and strong against. I know there is already the Dual Type Chart, but I seriously sometimes have trouble reading those correctly or I don't have the time to >.< So I figured just making an app to find it for you would help! It's like the opposite of the Type Coverage Chart. You get what I mean? I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this, but I think it would be helpful, if you know what I mean.

Database improvement suggestions

I've been thinking on some things that could improve the db and hopefully grow this site, with Pokemaster's approval of coarse.

-Draft your questions, or save the question without publishing it. Mainly for the instances where you don't have time to finish your question. Only the user who is giving the question and Pokemanster ('cuz on this site, he knows all).

-Private questioning and answering. Only Pokemaster, moderators, editors, and selected experts and users could see the question. No downvote, but certain amount of upvotes to make question to be public.

If there are other suggestions I can think of, I will edit.

How does something get categorized as spam?

Yesterday, I typed in a link to a song four time (unconsecutivly) on chat ( the four times that i got on ), and people got really worked up, and someone threatened to ban report me. How would typing something random count as spam? It was just a cool song, and I've typed random stuff loads of times before, and no one said anything about it.

Is it possible to make it where an IP address wont be able to up vote on their stuff?

If it's possible, make it where an IP address can't up vote anything that's posted from that same IP. This way, if somebody makes a duplicate so they can spam up vote, nobody will be able to up vote their stuff since it's their same IP address. I searched, I couldn't find this already suggested. I'm sure it's not that easy, and I'm sure if it was then it would have been done a long time ago. But just in case some how it's never occured to anybody, I posted this! If it's too hard, or if it's been thought of, then I'd like to know what's keeping it from being done. I don't quite know how making a website like this goes, so I don't really know about what I'm suggesting, but I think it would make the site better.

There should be footprint and body shapes information of all of the Pokemon. Just add the shapes to the Pokemons' page! I searched, not a question like this one. SO ADD THE SHAPES PLEASE! I know it's not a big deal and doesn't really help much, but niether does having weight and height! xP So, if you aren't already working on it, please, Pokemaster, add it! :)

Database league revival. Leaders have been decided (close to final) and tier 3 needs picking (vote now).

Permission from Mike.

OK so lots of people wanted to bring back the database league. Last time we had many problems that were easily fixed but were not. DT tried to revive it but his inactivity hindered his plans and that led to the mess we have now.

This time we will plan and run tighter rules. Anybody that wants to contribute can but the final word will be said by those in charge.

This is not the final thread. The final thread will be made if this does go through and planning is finished. This means we have a set of rules in place (preferably one where gym leaders cannot challenge the league) and a solid set of 8 gym leaders and an elite 4 +champion (no shared gyms).

The planning will be done here and over chat to avoid cluttering the final thread if this is to proceed.

For those who do not know about the db league
The top battlers on the site come together and form the league. People then challenge the league in return for badges and bragging rights. It works similar to the games. If you beat the league you go in the database hall of fame. This marks you as a top battler and I'm sure everyone wants to hit that spot first.

Gym Leaders and E4
Now anyone can apply though only a few will be selected. You will be selected based off skill, knowledge (and preferably some decent time on the site). If you want in on being a gym leader comment below saying you want to be a gym leader and which tier you would prefrebly battle in.

Now just remember that we are not having a mono OU league...
We have 13 people in the league and there are many tiers to use.

LC, NU, RU, UU, OU, Ubers, Monotype, CC, Random Battle and Doubles
We need at least one of each. Many people are likely to pick OU. This narrows your chances down of getting a leader position if everyone votes OU. Now I am not saying don't vote OU, if it is your best tier then by all means vote for it as we will not pick you in a weaker tier.

There will also be part time leaders for the first 4 gym leaders just in case you do not make the cut.

The rules will be decided below on pirate pad. Though only editor + can see this unless I choose to give people this. It will be hidden because allot of the planning such as gym leader choosing shall be on there.

There is a link in the comments (try to find it :P) where me, Erick, and MrK brainstormed up some ideas about possible candidates for the GL's and stuff.
I posted a hidden link where only mods can see it so they can edit the info.
MrK posted a link where you can view it but not edit it. For everyone.

List of budding gym leaders (/E4/champion)
-Blobyolo (Ubers)

So i was thinking. In chat the mods should have a symbol / different name colour to notify that they're a Mod. That means that if a spammer knows someone is a mod then they won't bother. It also helps with people asking Q's to experienced users. With the symbol they know who will definetly be able to answer there question.
You could also have Expert and Editor symbols / colours.

Would this be an okay question to ask in PokeBase?

Okay, I was just wondering if this question would be flaged or down-voted in PokeBase:

Title: "Strategy for Brawly Help (Emerald)?"

Additional Text: "I need a good strategy for defeating Brawly (Dewford Town Gym-Leader in Emerald).
I have a Taillow, Poochyena (<Useless), Nincada (<also Useless), Mudkip, and Dustox.
My Dustox knows Confusion and Poison Sting.
I'm not asking for a Strategy using JUST these Pokemon, I can Catch others."

^Is that question Okay?

Would anyone else find a contest movedex useful?

I am doing a lot of contests at the moment to get all my main Pokémon ribbons and to get the paintings in the Art Gallery in Lilycove (Sapphire). I know this is a minigame and most people probably don't care about contests, but perhaps I'm not alone? I typically use Pokemondb to look up what moves my contest Pokemon learm and at which levels, but then I have to cross reference with Bulbapedia to find out what contest type the move is, and what effect it has.

I love the way Pokemondb has links all over the place that interconnect (you can click on a Pokémon to see what moves it learns, you can click on a move to see what type it is...) Anyway it would be much easier if I could just click the link for the move that I'm interested in from my Pokémon's learnset, and then see in its move description what type it is and what effect it has for different generations, like you can with the normal battle movedex. I know it's of low importance so you wouldn't want this information cluttering up the main move page, so maybe a little button somewhere that you can choose to click to toggle between contest and normal mode?

I look forward to the day when I don't have to sroll down for hours and rely on ctrl F to find what I'm looking for on Bulbapedia because it's all neatly displayed on Pokemondb for me :D but perhaps I'm just being lazy.

Relicanth Pokedex Page - Missing Hoenn Information

I was browsing the Pokedex when i discovered that the Relicanth page (accessed from the National Dex) is missing information, in fact, it's missing all information regarding the Generation III games, where it was first introduced, such as catching locations in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, as well as any other regional-specific information associated with the Hoenn region.

Just thought you'd like to know!

Suggestion: Question Priority (For Meta)

So I was thinking just now, that we could have a feature for Meta where users ("Users " being Editors and Mods :P) can set priority to a post. What that means is that any post with hightened priority will show up at the top of the page almost like a sticky thread (For PM only). This way if someone finds an urgent problem or needs you to know something quickly, it can be set at hightened priority so it can be dealt with more quickly.

I don't fully understand what you just said, but I'm up voting anyway...
commented 4 minutes ago by Cyndaquil Guy

Okay so pretend somebody reports a crucial problem for the site, but since Pokemaster can't be on all the time, it gets pushed down and he doesn't see it. An Editor or Mod could click a button on the question, making it a high priority question, so it would show up at the top of the list of posts for PM and be labeled "Imprortant!" or something. That way PM would see it right away and could fix it withou delay.
A small and simple suggestion, appreciated if someone took a small look.

What if when answering or asking something, there will be a small number under the "write your answer/question" here box showing how many characters have been used up or are left of the 8000 limit, similar to what Word has at the bottom of the screen. It just gives us a small indication of our character limit.

Again no biggie, just wanted to say my mind.

Questions with the tag 'unresolved' go in the unanswered section. [REPOST]

Well, yeh, this has already been asked. But apparently it's been abandoned and even after I bumped the thread it still got no attention. Here it is again, Pokemaster, pls fix.

Old question

It helps people know that they are unresolved because they might not notice the tag or in some cases if the question has an answer but it is unresolved then people would just look that it has an answer then move on.

Another note: Some people are just retarded idiots and they answer questions, and nobody ever gets around to hide them, But if someone added the unresolved tag, people would know that it is okay to answer.

Can we put more emphasis on giving out the BA on questions?

I mean, there are a lot of questions that don't have a best answer given. Here is an example of one that I answered:
http://pokemondb.net/pokebase/127399/pikachu-training-need-help#a127483

Maybe if giving out the BA was more emphasized in the rules, and maybe also there could be a message reminding you to give it out when you are going to ask a question.
Well, these are just some thoughts. Thanks for your time, PM.

Bolding, Italics, Titles and basically everything we can do on a question/answer, basically. I would also really like a centralising option on the toolbar above. None of this should be abused too much. Oh yeah and Centralising + Moving to the right of the page and the left. This is for questions, answers and our profiles. I think it would look great.

Dewford Gym (Ruby Sapphire Emerald)
Birth Island (Ruby Sapphire Emerald(The Triangle thing))
All Victory Roads
Viridian Gym (Heart Gold Soul Silver)

this is my suggestion
on the profile page, under how many downvotes and upvotes you recieved, you could have something to show when you were last on the site? like this
Last Active: March 31, 2013
my reason for wanting this is for username changing purposes.
because i once heard you could steal someones username if they hadn't been active for 6 months, so this could really help people out if they want a username of someone else's
thanks!

On PO, we are getting remixed smogon tiers for the overall enjoyment. Simple. We have some contribs.

Mods.
Editors.
JCM.
Lenub.
Requested editors. (Blob, Hex, Fizz, Ben)

These guys have the links for the master list. People who can see hidden posts, I have a hidden answer for you.

This is for the community, and if you have a suggestion, feel free to answer. Note that this is still based off Smogon, not from scratch.

Ideas:
Make OU fun
Make Weather not dominate OU and Ubers
Help the lower tiers see some weather

"This will fail"
The idea isn't to make better tiers than Smogon, it is to make funner tiers.

So I'm thinking I'll move the server to PO, where it's MUCH easier to host. I'll keep you guys posted, I might be able to get it working later this week.

Moveset searcher correction

Just a small niggling thing that appears to be incorrect. The moveset searcher states that no Pokemon can Learn Swords Dance, Ice punch, Extreme Speed and Close Combat on one set. I happen to know that Lucario can learn all 4 moves. Why does it state otherwise? If I have made an error please inform me.

Again, no big deal. Just a pointer.

Why isn't fidgit on this site?

When I search this pokemon(fidgit) on this site's quick-search, it doesn't seem to come-up, why?

"Not another promotion request"

More Editors.

Mike, trachy, and I were talking about this on chat. We all thought that there were too few active editors, with Pokewatt and me being the only two who are very active. Meanwhile, our mods aren't all active, as Speed Freak and Will haven't been on in quite some time and DT is only on for a bit at a time due to his constant business. That leaves trachy, Mew, and Mike. The mod count is fine, but only if also bolstered by a decent amount of editors to take care of things such as hiding, approving, and removing flags. Usually when trachy come on, he ends up approving stuff that was asked close to 12 hours ago. I do this sort of thing myself, but going through this is hard especially when you have to find other Internet networks to use. So we need more editors. We thought of four users who have been a huge help to the community, and command a large amount of respect from the users on this site.

Hex: Hexagonal :D! Hex is a long-time great user. Hex is on every day. Hex has always been an amazing user, and is one of the most respected. Considered the best of the best in competitive. Amazing help to our community.

Fizzcube: 2 years. 15k. I know at the moment Fizz is an Expert but he has been really helpful to other users by answering their questions. Along with his positive attitude Fizz is very committed to the site and is very active answering and editing questions old (he answers old questions in a way that should be seen as an example of when you should answer old questions) or new.
I know this may be brief but Fizz should be rewarded for his hard work and commitment and in my opinion he will be a valuable Editor for this site along with our other outstanding Editors.

JamesBlob: Probably cares about us more than himself. Brought us so much. Amazing part of the community. 10000 points. DB League, suggestions, man, oh man. Blob and I have been like, partners in crime. His spelling might not be the greatest, but we have 17 experts for that. :P His insight and sense of fairness is what really matters in the editor position.

RedShift.: 15k. Answers like crazy, the Officer Friendly of the DB. An overall fantastic user and a friend to many on the DB. I don't think there's been any complaint about his behavior, which happens to be pretty rare on this site. :P

Also, giving editors kicking power would help deal with any chat problems. Because with the lack of moderator activity, all the stuff lately like Cynadquil Guy's annoyances happen. Just bringing that up again, although I'm sure you're tired of hearing about it. :P

Question about new user and start off points?

http://pokemondb.net/pokebase/user/xThEgRiZzLyX

He has 0 points. As I recall you start off with 20 points.

Did he maybe post something and get two downvotes before it was hidden?
The reason I ask is because, if it did not follow the rules it would not have been approved, and he asked me in chat how to hide something, concerning a question in the RMT which was against the rules (He hid it himself).

It's not a big deal, but I was just wondering if this is a glitch or if the beginning 20 points thing was stopped.
