First ever team here for OU. Well, first team ever outside of the games.

Ive already used it to win three battles (2 were rage quits :) and I have lost 2 battles.

Scizor @ Focus Sash

Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Sword Dance - Setup
- Agility - Setup
- Baton Pass - Transfer setup stats
- Pursuit - Attack move in case the sweepers are KOd

Scizor has one weakness (Fire). With this ev spread it makes for an incredible wall. The idea is that I can setup at least one swords dance before switching if the opponent sends out a fire first. If not, bonus. Scizor sets up on sword dance and agility then baton passes to a sweeper. Which sweeper depends on my opponents team. If his team is vulnerable to Sp Atk, then I can just set up a couple agilities and then pass. Built to be a wall, and to setup some stats for sweepers.

Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk –SAtk)
- Drain Punch - Increased Atk used to restore hp from burn
- Facade – Makes use of his burn condition and high attack
- Ice Punch – Flying type coverage
- Earthquake – 100 base power, 100 accuracy. Why not?

With Conkeldurr’s guts ability the reduced attack from burn is not counted, at least not in OU. Drain Punch restores the hp from burn damage. I was originally thinking Superpower but that would reduce his atk and that eliminates the boost from Scizor’s baton pass. So I switched it to façade which takes advantage of his increased attack and burn condition. I put earthquake in but I was also thinking bulk up. I finally decided earthquake because he’s a sweeper.


Gengar @ Black Sludge

EVs: 252 Spd, 252 SAtk, 4 HP
Timid Nature (+Spd –Atk)
- Trick – I haven’t used it yet but it will be useful against a wall
- Shadow Ball – Good ghost move
- Thunderbolt – Coverage with a good base power
- Hypnosis – Sleep, the worst thing to happen to you without status healing items

Gengar with high speed and high special attack. Sweeperrrr…

Dragonite @ Life Orb

Ability: Multiscale
Evs: 250 HP, 200 Spd, 58 Def
Jolly Nature (+Spd –SAtk)
Moveset:
- Thunder Wave – Paralyze the foe and impossible to heal. SO useful
- Roost – restore some Hp very useful
- Dragon Claw – Dragonite has a higher Atk then SpAtk. I also dislike moves like Draco Meteor, and Outrage because they have nasty side effects.
- Extremespeed – Take out the faster opponents who only have a little bit of Hp left

I’ve always wanted to have a Dragonite on a team. Good stats, and with some good speed he can take out opponents swiftly and brutally.


Ninetales @ Life Orb

Trait: Drought
Evs: 250 Spd, 250 SAtk, 8 HP
Timid Nature (+Spd –Atk)
- Solarbeam – Normally takes two turns but with drought it is shortened to one turn, with the increased speed it’s likely to hit first. This covers all weaknesses.
- Flamethrower – good fire move with really good accuracy
- Substitute – Gives protection for setup
- Calm Mind – Good for increasing Ninetales prominent stats (SAtk)

Ninetales, in the right scenario, gives me a chance to knock out some of the opponent’s pokemon.


Metagross @ Leftovers

Trait: Clear Body
Evs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk –SAtk)
- Zen Headbutt – Good base power and 100 accuracy
- Earthquake – Why not?
- Hone claws – Good for increasing stats
- Agility – Wanted a fourth move but I couldn’t really choose

Metagross is a really good pokemon who I have used before and enjoyed. I couldn’t decide on a sixth for my team so I chose Metagross.


The idea is that I can use Scizor to setup on swords dance and agility and then baton pass to Conkeldurr for sweeping. The other guys, like Gengar and Dragonite, have been pretty useful as well.

There's no sprites because
a) I'm lazy and
b) Pokemaster says they slow down the page
Just 6 sprites won't slow down the page and Black Sludge doesn't poison, it takes away a bit of HP every turn.
Maybe the sprites wouldn't slow it much but im lazy that way. Thanks for letting me know that bit of info about black sludge. Same idea though, right?
Yeah, it just wouldn't increase over eery turn like bad poison ;)

AWESOME TEAM!!!!!!! my only suggestion is that if you are going to pass along some speed agility for metagross can be switched with an attack and dragonite can switch thunder wave with an attack. hope this helps!

I edited your team a little bit, I didn't change anything but I made it easier to read and it looks pretty now :)



Scizor - Baton Pass Scizor isn't bad but it is outclassed by CB Scizor or a Swrods Dance set, the latter of which I am going to recommend.

Scizor @ Life Orb/Leftovers/Flying Gem
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Superpower/Acrobatics

This Scizor is rather striaght forward, set up Swords Dance and sweep. 252 HP EVs give great bulk, and the speed EVs are for outspeeding other Scizors running 252 HP and 4 EVs in a defensive stat. Bullet Punch and Bug Bite are STABs and both are boosted by Technician. If you run Superpower to hit other Steel types then it's your choice of leftovers for recovery or Life Orb for some extra firepower. If you run Acrobatics, go with the Flying Gem. One might question the use of Acrobatics as it allows Steel types to wall Scizor. The answer, it is extremely unpredictable, and it nails hits really hard after a Technician boost and a Flying Gem boost. Superpower is still probably the best option for coverage, but you already have a fighting type and a fire type for steels, so why not try Acrobatics?



Conkeldurr - As much as I like Conkeldurr I think Terrakion would benefit this team more, providing immediate crushing power with a Choice Band. CB Terrakion is perhaps one of OU's best wallbreakers and deals unfathomable damage with his STABs alone.

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Quick Attack
- X-scissor

Basically how CB Terrkaion works, is you switch in on something that you either wall or threaten (And with a Band you threaten pretty much anything you outspeed) and select the STAB move that fits the situation best. At this point, nothing short of a physical wall will be taking your hits, and even they won't be doing so comfortably. While Terrakion is fast, make sure you don't keep him in too long, as he is a valuable asset for forcing switches and devastating the switch-ins. Just watch out for Ghost types. His STABs need no explanation, Quick Attack is for revenge killing, and actually works quite well, while X-scissor hits Psychic types.



Gengar - I love Gengar, but Hypnosis has low accuracy, and I am really surpised you didn't miss a whole bunch in the video. Replace Trick with Substitute, and replace Thunderbolt with Focus Blast. Last but not least, replace Hypnosis with Pain Split. You now have a fast sweeper with almost perfect coverage, you are hard to revenge, and you have recovery in the form of Pain Split. Another reason Hypnosis is unreliable is the sleep clause, and I am genuinely shocker your opponent didn't leave one of his pokemon asleep, as it would have rendered Hyponis utterly useless for the duration of the battle.



Dragonite - No Dragon Dance?! Wah? Dragonite almost needs Dragon Dance to sweep, and now that I took away the Baton Passing from Scizor, he needs to be able to boost his stats independently. Fear not, however, as with Mutiscale Dragonite can set-up 2 Dragon Dances with ease if played right.

- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Roost/Extremspeed

Even though the Evs sacrifice some speed, the bulk is appreciated and aids Dragonite in Dancing ;). Dragon Claw is STAB and is more viable than Outrage in this instance because you are not the fastest thing out there even at +2 Speed so you want to keeo as much HP as possible. Fire Punch covers Steel types and Roost is for recovery, or you can opt for Extremespeed for revenge killing and priority what not.



Ninetales - I have never used CM Ninetales and TBH the team really isn't a sun team, so I am going to change him out if that's ok.

Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs:4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Trick
- Volt Switch

Thunderbolt is main STAB and Overheat is secondary STAB that hits very hard. Trick is for crippling walls and locking enemies into support/boosting moves. Volt Switch is yet more STAB and revenge kills like a baws.



Metagross - I like Metagross but he shares weaknesses and no longer fits on the team. I notice you need something to take Water moves, and boy do I have the pokemon for you.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 104 SAtk / 48 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam/Earth Power
- Stockpile
- Recover

Gastrodon can sweep teams with ease after just 2 Stockpiles, and with 3 the only thing he fears is extrmely high powered grass attacks, poisoning, and critical hits. Scald is STAB and has a nifty burn chance that is really helpful. Ice Beam hits Dragon type which wall you but Earth Power is STAB and stops you from being walled by things like Tentacruel and such. Stockpile is the crux of the set, boosting Gastrodon's defenses to untouchable levels, and Recover os for recovery, making Gastro incredibly hard to take down.

Thanks for editing my question! I like the suggestions. I will edit my team and try it out. The reason for drought on Ninetales, BTW, was so that solarbeam could hit all three of his weaknesses without the stall.
Drought is the best ability Ninetales can have, but it doesn't support the team much. I understand your reasoning tho.
HAHA first time trying out the team, we made it to turn 56 before he quit. We both had five pokemon left.
