PokeBase Meta Battle Subway - RMT

The Crimson King (Red Mono Color Tournament Team Winner)

3 votes

So I'm posting three teams because I used three teams. When my opponent had a limited pool to choose from for their Pokemon, I could make a few educated guesses as to what they'll be using. Sorry for lack of a replay on the first battle, didn't occur to me that they would be nice to have.

Scizor @ Choice Scarf
enter image description here
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Aerial Ace
- Bullet Punch

I brought in this guy for one reason, and that reason was Alakazam. I guessed (correctly) that Alakazam would be on Brown, so I used Scizor. Outspeeding and OHKOing Alakazam with U-Turn. Scizor also had the added functionality of being able to OHKO Infernape with Aerial Ace (well, a 68% chance to OHKO, guaranteed with Spikes up). Aerial Ace is also the only move able to hit Shedinja, a Pokemon that always has a chance of showing up. Bullet Punch provided priority, to take down a weakened foe (or Mamoswine). Superpower was there for Heatran. In the battle against Jofly, it did its job and KOd Alakazam.

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
enter image description here
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Surf
- Roost

One of the stars of the team. With Stealth Rock up, it could easily KO Dragonite with Draco Meteor. Could do heavy damage against a lot of stuff with Draco Meteor in fact. In addition to KOing Dragonite, it was my best bet against Conkeldurr, which is why I use Psychic instead of Psyshock. Could also easily defeat Infernape. Surf was there for Dugtrio, Torkoal, Regirock, Hippowdon, Mamoswine, Heatran, and Landorus-T. Five of those had a huge chance of appearing, while Torkoal and Regirock had a minor chance of appearing. In the battle against Jofly, it KOd Drragonite and Hippowdon (although Porygon2 weakened Hippowdon).

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
http://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/rotom-wash.png
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SAtk
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
- Volt Switch
- Thunder Wave

Physically defensive Rotom-W, because Brown has a lot of hard hitting physical attackers. Hydro Pump is STAB and hits Dugtrio, Torkoal, Regirock, Hippowdon, Mamoswine, Heatran, and Landorus-T hard. Volt Switch does good damage against Staraptor, but it is mainly there for the slow switch. Pain Split is healing. I use Thunder Wave over Will-o-wisp for against Dragonite and Heatran, who could both cause me some pretty huge problems with a Speed boost. Besides, I had counters to the physical attackers Brown has. In the battle against Jofly, it KOd Infernape and then paralyzed his Dragon Dancing Dragonite.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
enter image description here
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 SDef
Bold Nature
IVs: 3 Atk
- Hidden Power [Water]
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Thunder Wave

Heatran, Dugtrio, and Landorus-T counter. Hidden Power Water is there to deal more damage to Heatran. Not like Electric type attacks would do much in a battle against Brown. I use it instead of HP Ground for that more powerful hit against Mamoswine. Ice Beam is there for a lot of stuff. Recover makes Porygon2 a boss. Thunder Wave is always great, paralyzing the switch-in of Infernape as well as stopping a Dragonite or Heatran sweep. In the battle against Jofly it KOd Floatzel and Slaking, allowing my team a reprieve from Sand and Stealth Rock damage.

Darmanitan @ Choice Scarf
enter image description here
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Rock Slide

This guy is just there for the sake of it. Really a revenge-killer, with Flare Blitz doing a huge amount of damage. Earthquake is there for Heatran and Infernape. U-Turn for switching in and out. Rock Slide is there for Dragonite. Did nothing in the battle against Jofly.

Crustle @ Red Card
enter image description here
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Toxic

A last-minute addition to my team. I replaced Scrafty for it when I decided the utility provided by Rocks and Spikes was too much to miss. Spikes allows Scizor’s Aerial Ace to OHKO Infernape 100%. Stealth Rock breaks Multiscale, allowing Latias to KO Dragonite with ease. It also makes Staraptor’s life difficult and makes Shedinja unusable. Toxic would be after I set up Rocks and at least one layer of Spikes, I could use it on bulky guys like Landorus-T. It would also help take down Torkoal, with Rock Blast there to finish that job. Red Card is there to stop Conkeldurr and Dragonite if they got their boosts up. Also gets a Sand boost to Special Defense. In the battle against Jofly it setup Spikes and Stealth Rock as planned.

Idek how Alakazam wasn't yellow ._.
It's to make up for you getting Haxorus.
I'm not sure why Keldo was yellow..I was going to use custap Magenzone to deal with it >.>

Crustle @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Stealth Rock
- X-Scissor
- Rock Blast
- Toxic

Offensive Crustle seems so out of place when I already have Scolipede and I have Scizor as an option. But Sturdy is far too valuable an ability to not have. It would allow me the ultimate backup against Volcarona. It did nothing in the match, not even set Rocks.

Scolipede @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 160 Spd / 252 Atk / 96 HP
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Megahorn
- Rock Slide
- Superpower
- Toxic

A second backup to Volcarona, who Scolipede outspeeds at +1. Rock Slide deals with Volcarona and Togekiss. Superpower is there for Meloetta, as is Megahorn. Toxic is that just in case move. Did nothing in the match against Valet.

Rotom-Wash @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 208 Spd / 48 HP
Modest Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Substitute

The MVP of the match against Valet. Rotom-W OHKOd Abomasnow right off the bat, managed to defeat Meloetta, and then on the last turn of Perish Song it KOd Jellicent before finally succumbing. I used an Expert Belt set to fake a Choice set. White has a very limited number of options as to what it can use, so I felt fairly safe in how the battle would go. An Abomasnow lead would be KOd by HP Fire. If he Protected (if he had Protect) I would have then used Substitute, allowing me to easily take down the Jellicent switch in. While the Abomasnow killing went as planned, Valet seemed to know something was amiss, and he switched out for Amoonguss, revealing myself to not be Choiced. A brilliant play.

Bisharp @ Life Orb
Trait: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 8 Spd / 248 HP
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Night Slash
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Substitute

Takes down Meloetta-A, Jellicent, and Amoonguss, as well as revenge kills everything else. I don’t have Dance because I needed the moveslots for other moves. Sucker Punch is the primary attack, but I know that relying on it to KO a Pokemon with a status move cannot be done. So I decided to go with Night Slash also. Iron Head is there for that slightly harder neutral hit and that flinch. Substitute is for Spore and Will-o-wisp. Bisharp KOd Amoonguss and Sucker Punched Volcarona.

Darmanitan @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 216 Spd / 252 Atk / 40 HP
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Fire Punch
- Flare Blitz
- Flame Wheel
- Sleep Talk

The ultimate Amoonguss counter. Nothing besides Jellicent resisted Fire, and since I won’t be staying in on Jellicent, I went all out Fire. The one time you’ll actually see Flame Wheel used in an acceptable place. It KOd Gallade, who turned out to be the biggest threat to my team.

Latias (F) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Draco Meteor
- Healing Wish

I like Scarfed Latias. Psyshock allows me to hit Amoonguss, Jellicent, and +1 SDef Volcarona for good damage. Surf was for Volcarona without a Dance up. I intended to use Surf for revenge killing purposes. My team has a lot of Volcarona counters, as I perceived it to be my main threat. Surf brought it down to about half health, which undoubtedly helped win me the match as it allowed Bisharp to KO Volc with Sucker Punch. Draco Meteor is STAB. Healing Wish is an incredible move, and if I had dealt with everything that Latias can deal with, I could bring back another teammate.

lol, you seemed to be prepared for my team xD
That Bisharp, Rotom and Latias though...
they ruined everything xP
I kinda was. When you have only eight Pokemon to choose from, it gets pretty easy to make a team to deal with that.
yeah...
tbh I wasn't expecting HP(Fire) since I have never really battled a Rotom-W with HP(fire)
hmmm...I should have ran HP(Ground) instead of Psychic, I would have covered more....
Anyhow, it was a fun battle and you deserved to win :)

Scizor @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 204 Spd / 252 Atk / 52 HP
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- U-turn

The wonderful Scizor. Bane of Tyranitar, Celebi, Reuniculus, and whatever Grass types that Green might use instead of Celebi. Bug Bite easily destroys. I have U-Turn also to provide a pivot. You might notice the lack of Superpower, but Green doesn’t have anything to use it on that I don’t already destroy. Pursuit is to trap Reuniculus. Bullet Punch is priority of course. Scizor was sad because it didn’t get to even come out during the battle.

Rotom-Wash @ Lum Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SDef / 8 SAtk
Calm Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 SDef / 30 Spd
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Pain Split
- Thunder
- Thunder Wave

Strange set I know. I decided that the risk of Sand was small enough to risk using Thunder. And since T-tar would be the only real thing to hit with Hydro Pump, I might as well cause Breloom and Virizion some grief. Its main job is to take down Tornadus though, who is the Flying type most likely to show up, as it can tank Hurricane and hit back with Thunder. Lum Berry helps against Toxic but is mainly there for Hurricane confusion. Hax is only a problem if you aren’t prepared for it. Rotom defeated Politoed.

Latias (F) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 240 Spd / 16 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Thunder
- Shadow Ball
- Psyshock

I’ve come to know Latias as a surprisingly heavy hitter and its place on this team solidifies that role. Thunder 2HKOs Politoed and OHKOs Tornadus, Yanmega, and Xatu. Shadow Ball 2HKOs Reuniculus. Psyshock OHKOs Virizion, Breloom, and Roserade. Expert Belt nets me that OHKO vs Virizion, plus it lets me deal more damage against most everything else, which helps Scizor finish things off. It fakes a Choice item. It took down Virizion in the battle.

Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SAtk / 80 Spd / 176 HP
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Trick
- Thunder

A Scarfer with so little speed? Well, Green doesn’t have Pokemon known for using Scarfs besides Flygon, which outspeeds Z anyways. So I decided all I needed to do was outspeed Tornadus. Porygon-Z can tank a Hurricane anyways, and then OHKO with Thunder, so this seems to be a good course of action. Ice Beam is for the many many Grass types Green has. Lots of the stuff Green has has lower defense than special defense, so Download would often be useless. Instead I went for a hard STAB hit. Trick is for any walls that might come out. It survived a hit from Hurricane and then defeated Tornadus with Thunder.

Jynx (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Lovely Kiss
- Energy Ball
- Signal Beam

Sleep. Sleep makes Jynx hard to switch in on. As does that Ice typing, which easily deals with any Grass foes. Also with Tornadus, Yanmega, and Xatu. Dry Skin allows Jynx the ability to make short work of Politoed, along with Energy Ball at least. Signal Beam is for Reuniculus and a harder hit against Celebi. Blizzard is used because some damage calc for I forget what says I need it to get that KO off of something. It managed to take down Reuniculus, although only through Freeze. Scizor would have KOd it anyways because Scizor.

Parasect @ Focus Sash
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SAtk
- Protect
- Stun Spore
- X-Scissor
- Seed Bomb

I felt that the rest of my team counters Green well enough, so Parasect is there to deal with some annoying but rare stuff that might show up. Breloom, Virizion, Roserade, Sceptile, Ludicolo, Serperior and especially Whimsicott can all be annoyances, and Parasect deals with them with a bit of prediction. Also Dry Skin for Politoed. Parasect took down Golurk and walled the hell out of Ludicolo.
