PokeBase Meta Battle Subway - RMT

How's my Gen 4 team? (Unresolved)

0 votes

This was the first team I put together, and I have like 3 other teams, so its probably not very good. My members are set.

enter image description here
Burn (Infernape) @ Wide Lens
Trait: Blaze
EV's: 252 Spd,128 Atk, 128 Sp. Atk.
Lonely/Naughty Nature
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast
- ThunderPunch
- Shadow Claw

Flamethrower is STAB and my main attack. Focus Blast is STAB and it will do huge damage. ThunderPunch is Water and Flying type coverage. Shadow Claw is Psychic type coverage.

enter image description here
Poseidon (Floatzel) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EV's: 252 Spd, 252 Atk, 4 HP
Quirky Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Punch
- Dig
- Aqua Ring

Aqua Tail is STAB and it has great power with his physical attack. Ice Punchhe has better physical attack than special. It also covers the Grass weakness. **Dig covers the Electric weakness. Aqua Ring could be nice to have as HP recovery from the Life Orb.

enter image description here
Randall (Lucario) @ Earth Plate/Mind Plate
Trait: Steadfast
EV's: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Atk,4 HP
Mild/Rash Nature
- Aura Sphere
- Flash Cannon
- Earthquake
- Psychic

Aura Sphere is STAB and so is Flash Cannon. Earthquake covers the Fire weakness and is a strong move. Psychic covers the fighting weakness.

enter image description here
Falca (Staraptor) @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EV's: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
Adamant/Jolly Nature
-Defog
-Roost
-Brave Bird
-Close Combat/Steel Wing

Defog works like Rapid Spin and Flying-types are immune to Spikes, so entry hazards won't really be a problem until Staraptor faints.. Roost will heal off any damage I've taken (Especially from Life Orb). Brave Bird is my STAB.Close Combat/Steel Wing offers coverage for Rock and Ice. CC is stronger, but I'm not sure I like defense lower + Life Orb.

enter image description here
Shieldpalm (Bastiodon) @ Hard Stone/Earth Plate
Trait: Sturdy
EV's: 252 HP, 128 Def, 128 Sp. Def
Adamant Nature
- Toxic
- Sandstorm
- Protect
- Stone Edge

Toxic will wear down my opponents. Sandstorm will do the same as Toxic. .Protect will help stall while Toxic and Sandstorm do their job. Stone Edge is STAB and so I can attack and not spam Protect.

enter image description here
Justin (Bibarel) @ ???
Trait: Simple
EV's:???
??? Nature
- Dig
- Pluck
- Stealth Rock
-Thunderbolt

Protect is for Earthquake use. Pluck covers the Grass and Fighting weakness. Stealth Rock is for some cheap damage. Dig is for electric weakness. Thunderbolt is just a good move to have.

I know Bibarel is a dumb pokemon to put on my team, but I want it because I'm stupid. Also my nicknames aren't to good. I dont want to breed pokemon so level up or TM moves only. I will have more coming, so please check them out.

UPDATE: This will later be transferred to my White game, which opens quite a few new options, such as maybe trying a Sturdy/Metal Burst combo, or Dream World abilities, such as Reckless. I'd still like to keep mostly gen IV stuff, though. I'm going to ditto breed for natures.

EV's? It would help if you posted them.
get dark pulse for lucario, close combat and ariel ace for straptor and thunder bolt for bibarel and you should be good ;)
grumpygranbull-sorry,i don't know them. bastiodon has a little hp and attack  though.
bringin em back-thx. I appreciate it
Your Infernape's A-OK in my books! Your Floatzel's pretty good but I reccomend a PP Up on Hydro Pump (low PP). For Lucario, go with Psychic to cover fighting ( Lucario's a steel type). In Staraptor's case, go with steel wing (rock coverage, raises attack) but also Endeavor so if Staraptor takes a beating you can use Endeavor dish out heavy damage and switch. Bastiodon's good but don't try Sandstorm if it's about to get KOed because it will recoil on your other guys (other than Lucario). Bibarel's pretty good, but for the last move try Dig ( electric coverage ).
That's my opinion, hope I helped!

@infernapeburn- no problem, just asking
for infernape u should put a air balllon on it so it has a ground immnuity and also out a life orb on staraptor then  brave bird on it and go with close combat  and put darkpulse on loucario so it can deal with those psychics u should get rid of sandstorm on bastidon and put earth quake  because ur whole team isnt restint to  sandstorm dammage even though it only last for 5 turns and put rockblast in stead of toxic and just give toxic to bibarel and for floatzel put the life orb on it that should do a ton of dammage so yea take up my advice and u should have a stellar team
ok... whoever changed my question format, explain how you did it please. Swagchu, air balloon dint exist until gen 5. this is gen 4. thanks for all the help.

Infernape

Seems fine. Just Naive > Lonely. So I would suggest Naive nature, or Hasty, it is basically the same, apart that if it was Naive, then it would get KOed by Focus Blast upcoming from Lucario, for example, and the Hasty one would get KOed alternatively by Close Combat from Lucario, the model I'll use to help you. The moveset is fine.

Floatzel

enter image description here
Floatzel is not a bad choice, but your moveset is bad. I've re-worked on it, and it should be the following:

Floatzel @ Life Orb:
Trait: Swift Swim
EV: 252 Speed / 196 Atk / 64 Sp.Atk
Naughty Nature

  • Aqua Jet
  • Rain Dance
  • Ice Punch
  • Focus Blast

Here, I want with this Floatzel to make the best use of its ability, otherwise useless. Rain Dance is pretty much the move that activate the ability, and will support your team furthermore. Aqua Jet is some nice priority to finish an undesirable boosted and weakened Pokémon, Ice Punch stays because it is Grass coverage and finally Focus Blast has an impressive BP for some nice coverage, like Steel.

Lucario

enter image description here
Lucario seems fine, just for the item selection, I would definitively go for the Mind Plate because with it, Psychic is boosted at least to Earthquake's power, so Lucario gets equal coverage. As for the nature, I would take any of the 2 natures, it doesn't really matter between Rash and Mild.

Staraptor

enter image description here
Staraptor @ Focus Sash:
Trait: Intimidate
EV: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Jolly Nature

  • Brave Bird
  • Endeavour
  • Close Combat
  • Quick Attack

This Staraptor is capable, if Stealth Rock is not in the field, to KO almost any Pokémon with the combo Endeavour and Quick Attack. When Staraptor's HP goes really low, Endeavour will lower your opponent's until you and your opponent have the same HP. Then, Quick Attack KO the foe. So easy. If your Staraptor is up against a ghost, or anything weak to Flying, Brave Bird will wreck havoc. Finally, Close Combat offers nice coverage.

Bastiodon

enter image description here

Bastiodon is a good staller. I would run Iron Defense > Sandstorm for the defense boost and otherwise, fine.

Bibarel

enter image description here
You really want to use it ? Then dump out Thunderbolt and get Ice Beam for the Grass Coverage, remove Dig and Pluck, it is useless on it, just Surf and Return are STAB. Then, your nature should be Mild or Rash, up to you.

I know this is pretty old stuff, but I was asked to answer so I tried.

Hope this helps !

thanks.
Could someone help me find a good spot for thunder on this team? Rain dance would be more effective, as I only have 2 water moves for it to boost, and one fire weakness, Lucario. Thunder would make this a better team, I think.
epic victory with the modifications: http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/battle-gen5ou-60116278
O_o... I feel that it's ridiculous that you want only gen 4 pokes yet you are playing on Showdown. Just my opinion...
yeah, maybe. I actually originally assembled this team for gen 4 use, and didn't change anything when I decided to put it in gen 5.
