If you get a Pokemon from an event and it is overleveled for your current gym badge, will it disobey?

Cause the gym leader says that traded Pokemon up to level blah blah will obey you and I was just asking to see if the same rule applies for Pokemon you get in an event.

If you have an overlevelled event Pokemon then it will not obey you. My brother has 0 badges on his W2 game and got the event keldeo which is level 50 and it didnt obey him so this means overlevelled Pokemon dont obey you even if it is from an event.
