Likely tier: Overused
I think it will be Underused. Even though Stealth Rock is not a TM it'll still be popular. It's a killer for Urugamosu, just like Charizard.
Ho-oh is an Uber.
What are you talking about?
@The Killer Lucario, I think trachy was making the retort of Ho-oh being Uber despite it's similarly 4x weakness to Stealth Rock, of which Pokemaster was saying would make Volcarona Underused. Just clarifying.
Volcarona is OU.

Volcarona (F) @ Leftovers

Role: Rain Sweeper
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 96 SDef / 160 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Hurricane
  • Quiver Dance
  • Bug Buzz
  • Hidden Power [Water]

I love Rain.

Hurricane has 100% Accuracy in the rain, and is great coverage agaisn't annoying fighting types with Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Etc. Quiver Dance is a must on this Behemoth unless you're going on a choice Route, and Bug Buzz Provides Amazing STAB. And HP Water gets boosted in the rain.

Wth? Why would you waste Volcarona's amazing Fire power with Rain? That's a horrible moveset...honestly dude.
volcarona is good in the rain...
My favorite set
This is my current rain sweeper in ORAS OU. +1.

Volcarona (M) @ Life Orb

I use this set too, i think this is perfect, cover all weakness and excellent dame dealer
How do you make pictures
it might die from physical moves while you are setting up your quiver dances
Same set I use but I use a Big Root for more healing with Giga Drain. +1 vote :)

Ok this is Currently my fav pokemon, and its one of the best special sweepers (at least for me)

Volcarona @ Focus Sash

Ability : Flame body ( Its good for its low defenses, it may stop physical pokes)

Evs : 252 Sp Attack / 128 Sp Def / 128 Speed

Moveset

  • Bug Buzz, this ones a must in this pokemon, it gets STAB, and has great power and accuracy
  • Fire Dance, i prefer this over heat wave or flamethrower, because of the chance of getting you special attack up, to make Volcarona even more powerful
  • Quiver Dance, Great setup move, ups 3 stats.

And for the final move, heres some suggestions

  • Hurricane, Great power, Chance to confuse, just bad accuracy
  • Psychic, Nice coverage, and reliable move
  • Morning Sun ( egg move ) , good for recovering after some quiver dances
  • Hidden Power ( Rock ) I found this to be the most useful, because it deals decent damage to heatrans, and can take those pesky flying dragons
  • Hidden Power ( Ice ) You will get dragons now, but no heatran coverage
  • Hidden Power ( Fighting ) Coverage against rock

I like to use Psychic; Considering all the fighting types that can use Stone Edge. Morning Sun is good for healing off Stealth Rock damage on Sun teams.
ummm y would you use a 8 pp max move while you can just use roost instead of morning sun for max 16 pp
i know i'm telling 3,5 years later, but rikjansen1512, morning sun heals 66% on sun

Choice Scarf Volcarona

Pretty much every Volcarona you have ever seen is a Quiver Dance Volcarona. I'm not about to sit here and tell you that Quiver Dance Volcarona is bad, as it is extremely deadly. However, something very few people will be expecting is a scarfed Volcarona. With a base special attack stat of 135, this moth can pack a punch, even without a Quiver Dance boost, and Fiery Dance can provide a SAtk boost should you use it. Base 100 speed is more than enough to pull off an effective scarf set, and Volcarona has great coverage to go with his stellar stats, as well as the ability to switch in on a slew of moves it resists, and it's quite bulky on the special side. It has the ability to operate in Sun and Rain, and it can operate in Sand although it is not recomended. With Rapid Spin support, the Stealth Rocks that bog Volcarona down can be kept away, allowing Volcarona to switch in and out as often as it wants too.

Volcarona @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature
- Fiery Dance/Fire Blast/Hurricane
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Giga Drain

WOW! --
Ben...this is amazing..;-; Non-Quiver Dance, Scarfed Volcarona...It's a beautiful set..
xD (filler)
u said SAtk twice...
Fun set! I think you meant to say... SPEED instead of the 2nd Sp Attack for EV's strategy.
I dont reccomend using HP Ground on Volcarona replace it with Hurricane ( Just an Oppinion)

Volcarona (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Fiery Dance
- Quiver Dance
- Hidden Power [Ice]

by
While this set is good, I prefer max HP on Volca to provide enough bulk to set up a Q-Dance. SAtk can always be boosted, especially with Fiery Dance.
Ilike to OHKO resisting Pokemon. :3
That's cool, also something this beast does well.

Volcarona @ Kee Berry
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Ability: Flame Body
Bold Nature
- Heat Wave/Flamethrower/Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Quiver Dance
- Morning Sun/Giga Drain

This set has won me many battles. It emphasizes on improving Volcarona's poor Def and takes full advantage of its ability Flame Body. Once the foe is burned and its Kee Berry is consumed, Volcarona can tank most physical hits. Volcarona already has good base SpA, SpD and Spe, which is why the EVs are mainly put into HP and Def. Set up a Quiver Dance and that's a +1 in four different stats. It may still be a bit slow, but what it lacks in speed it makes up for with its defenses. Heal with Morning Sun or Giga Drain. I prefer Morning Sun as the foe could resist Giga Drain and it's a guaranteed heal. As for attacking moves, I prefer Heat Wave or Flamethrower over Fiery Dance since there is a chance to burn, and not all attacks make direct contact to activate its ability. Bug Buzz is standard on any Volcarona. Switch in on Mega Kangaskhan and watch the magic work. Do not take this Volcarona lightly.

Hmmm, lets see monstrous Special attack and special defence and decent speed, try this

EVs: 252SpecAtk/128def./124speed
Trait: Swarm @Life orb
role: Brawler, nature: Modest
Moves:
Bug Buzz- Duh, High power goes well with volcarona's high SpAtk and STAB
Flamethrower/ fire dance- honestly i'd go with flamethrower, since the chance of your SpAtk rising isn't 100%
Giga drain- Helps so much! Coverage against rock and water and also regains extra damage from the life orb! it can be taught this move via tutor in Pokemon black2/white2
Quiver dance- Typical, am I right? Boosts SpAtk and SpDef as well as speed, after this you'll be brawling for sure!
Hope I helped!

Volcarona (female)
Swarm
@wide lens
Modest
Mischievous
Sp.atk and Spd EV's

Heat Wave - STAB, powerful and a chance to burn.
Hurricane - Very powerful and a chance to confuse opponent.
Bug Buzz - STAB, powerful and a chance to lower Sp.def.
Giga Drain - Good power, coverage and health restore.

Okay so this set for Volcarona is pretty good, especially due to its amazing Sp.atk stat, and volcarona also has impressive speed and Sp.def stats, truly a powerhouse, giga drain covers two of volcaronas weaknesses especially rock, plus most fighting Pokemon can use rock attacks, so hurricane is an extra precaution, especially since volcaronas defense stat is average, so this set covers all weaknesses except flying, which is okay because you could probably knock it out in a shot, or at least severely damage it with heat wave, rock attacks are the main thing to watch out for, especially since most of them deal physical damage. Swarm helps boost bug buzz, making this Pokemon a sweeper of note, especially with its back against a wall, a very good addition to your party, and an unstoppable one if EV trained correctly, please note that it is female to counter act Pokemon who use attract, as most female Pokemon users equip them with attract, also wide lens covers the accuracy gap in heat wave and improve the accuracy gap in hurricane (please know that hurricane receives full accuracy in rain, 50% accuracy in harsh sunlight and is capable of hitting Pokemon using fly or bonce in its invulnerable stages).

P.S if you are worried about the flying weakness, you can replace hurricane with hidden power (ice, rock, or electricity) or alternatively, replace giga drain or hurricane with quiver dance, it raises speed sp.atk and sp.def all in one go, volcaronas best three stats.

Volcarona (M) @ Charcoal
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Bug Buzz
- Fiery Dance
- Giga Drain
- Hurricane

Charcoal boost up your Fiery dance that has a 50% chance of boost your attack
Bug Buzz- STAB and powerful
Fiery Dance- STAB plus 50% chance of boosting your attack
Giga Drain - For Water, Ground and Water type Pokemon
Hurricane- Super strong Flying move

Volcarona @ Expert Belt
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature

  • Giga Drain
  • Quiver Dance
  • Solar Beam/Bug Buzz
  • Flamethrower/Fiery Dance

Build up some Quiver Dances and you are good to go, Giga Drain is a powerful attack that will not only kick ass, but will get you some serious amount of HP back if you have stacked Quiver Dance. It also covers both water and rock type weaknesses at once. Solar Beam is a nice move to have in double battles with a Pokemon like Lilligant, which can have Sunny Day and maybe Synthesis. Bug Buzz is a nice STAB move and most powerful Special Bug move. For the last spot, a fire-type move should be perfect.

Try a sun set
Volcarona
Modest
252 SpAtk and Spd

Sunny day
Morning sun
Solar beam
Fiery dance

Sunny day powers up everything else. Only downside is no bug move

Gender(you choose)
item:Weakness Policy(good if get hit by super effective moves and survive+evs help survive)
Ability:flame body(hits physical attackers and have a chance to burn them)
evs: 252 def 252 sp.atk 4 speed(it dies easily from physical atks,it has good speed + quiver dance and we want it to hit harder + quiver dance)
moves:
Giga drain(coverage and heals you )
Fiery dance(you will not use 6 quiver dances as the opponent may kill you during that time +stab)
Quiver dance(gives you 0.5 sp.atk,speed,sp.def and good for sweeping and survive water special attacks)
Bug buzz(stab + op move)

Seriously, this guy can be used to a huge advantage in battle.
Role/What it is going to be used for: Special Sweeper.
EVS: 252 Sp Attack/252 Speed/4 Sp Def
IVS: I Would recommend to get at least over 20 for Sp Attack and Speed.

Moveset:
Quiver Dance: Raises SP Attack, SP Defense and speed by 1 stage (very op)
Flamethrower/Fiery dance: Flamethrower for STAB, chance to burn target. Fiery dance for Raising SP Attack (50% chance)
Hidden Power (Water or Grass)/Giga Drain: It sucks it couldn't learn Giga Drain in S&M, So Hidden Power is for S&M
Bug Buzz: Main Stab, Good for Killing Psychic Types :)

Disadvantages: Dragon, Rock (if it would resist grass & water), Flying Types. Also Physical Sweepers/Attackers.

Overall, This Pokemon would be Very good in Double Battles, With a Pokemon that has the Ability Dancer, Can also set-up. I used this Pokemon for the Battle Royal :DDDDD Worked out Great

Typical Volcarona:
[email protected] Orb
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 248 Def / 252 Sp Atk / 4 Sp Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
Moves:
Quiver Dance
Fiery Dance/Fire Blast
Bug Buzz
Morning Sun
This thing has absolutely no type coverage... AND I LUV IT!
Quiver Dance couple times, Morning Sun to cover up the Life Orb recoil and to clear up any damage from Quiver Dance abusing. I like Fiery Dance better but as Quiver Dance already boosts it so much Fire Blast can be useful. Oh BTW I like Fiery Dance better but I have Fire Blast instead. LMAO. Getting it to lvl 100 to learn Fiery Dance again.
Bug Buzz... I really dont have to explain, right? Morning Sun... you know why. Then here's the ultimate type coverage set:
[email protected] Root/Leftovers
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 Def / 252 Sp Atk / 4 Sp Def
Modest Nature
Quiver Dance
Fiery Dance
Giga Drain
Bug Buzz
Bug types... :( They'll probably switch out Psy or Dark type Pokemon once they see this beast anyways...
Set up with Quiver [email protected] and then couple Fiery Dances. Next Giga Drain deals HUGE damage against Water and Rock+healing. Draining, I mean. LMAO (Bug BUzz... you know why.)
Next, a physical Volcarona. I know, I know, physical sux. But, who cares?
Volcarona[email protected]
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Sp Def
Jolly Nature
Leech Life/U-turn
Wild Charge
Aerial Ace
Flame Charge
U-turn is weaker and doesn't drain but is useful against rock or water types. Wow. Yo gonna kick opponents butts.
Now, sunny day volcarona:
[email protected] Orb
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 Sp Atk / 4 Sp Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
Solar Beam
Quiver Dance
Fiery Dance
Bug Buzz
Typical... works well with Niinetales., M Charizard Y etc...
And that's it! Thanks for enduring this!

Volcarona @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 12 SpA / 4 SpD / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
– Heat Wave
– Bug Buzz
– Rage Powder
– Tailwind

This vgc set combine all you need from a redirection support, decent special and physical bulk, good fire power (ah ah) and speed control. With it's typing it can redirect easily will-o-wisps making it one of the best partner for physical type attacker, it has tailwind for speed control and heat wave for spread damage (you can change it for fiery dance but spread damage is better in my opinion). You have to be careful about incoming rock slides and rock type attacks in general but volcarona can be deadly if you are not prepared.

Damn, we need to clean this page up of old inexperienced answers.

While my set is rather gimmicky, the sheer surprise factor this carries coupled with multiple nuclear options makes it often quite a viable set.

Volcarona @ Firium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Overheat
- Giga Drain

Firium Z Overheat basically takes care of any problem except Chansey. Quiver Dance can help you take less damage from further Overheats and gets you sped up. Bug Buzz and Giga Drain are standard Volcarona offense. This is my favorite Volcarona set.

Volcarona @Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
Evs: 252SpA 200Spe 58SpDef
Nature: Modest
Fiery Dance (STAB, stat boost)
Bug Buzz (STAB, OP move)
Giga Drain (Weaknesses? What are they?)
Hurricane/Quiver Dance (Power/Stat Boost)

Personally I would use Hurricane over Quiver Dance as he already has Fiery Dance for SpA, he is already really fast, and my Volcarona is fairly weak on the defensive side, even with the 58 evs in Def. Hurricane also kills Fighting types cough cough Blaziken

Mothzilla(Volcarona)@Focus Sash
Flame Body
Timid
EVs 104 HP/202 Spd/202 SpA
-Quiver Dance
A great move for Volcarona. The Focus Sash helps with it a lot.
-Bug Buzz
Ideal STAB Bug Type move for Volcarona. May lower SpD.
-Fiery Dance
Ideal STAB Fire Type move. High chance to raise SpA.
-Psychic
It is impossible to resist or be immune to all three of this Volcarona's attacks when Psychic is involved.
