Deerling does indeed have a very limited movepool but it still has just enough moves to make it a deadly sweeper

Sun-Sweeping Deerling

Deerling @ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs:196 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SpD / 236 Spe
Adamant Nature

  • Seed Bomb
  • Return
  • Jump Kick
  • Wild Charge

I personally find this set to be of more utility then the choice scarf set as under sun, Deerling will even be faster then it's choice scarf variants. With Seed Bomb as a substitute for the rather preferred Horn leach which it doesn't have access to yet, Deerling can be a very dangerous Pokemon in the LC tier as it is one of the few that will still be able to outpace and kill of Shell Smash Clamperl who I believe you know is extremely dangerous. With Vulpix as it's backup and sun summoner, Deerling can be a total monster in LC and it can even profit from this set more seeing as it will not be forced to be stuck in one move. With max friendship Return is an extremely powerful STAB normal move and will thus enable it to hit many Pokemon with a nice amount of damage. Jump Kick is that move that will enable you to take down annoying threats such as Houndour and Pawniard as well a whole bucket full of normal type Pokemon. Wild Charge is just for a bit of extra coverage when facing the common flying types in the tier such as Murkrow and Drifloon

Vulpix is banned in LC...
It is? I used it in an LC team and it didn't stop me from battling with the team...
I never said it was, I just said I could still use it on showdown. And there are enough Pokemon that can set-up sun in LC so yeah....

Baton Pass Deerling

Deerling @ Eviolite
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 36 HP, 196 Def, 36 Sp. Def, 236 Speed
Nature: Jolly
- Work Up
- Agility
- Baton Pass
- Seed Bomb

There is a prevalence of popular water types in LC that lets Deerling set up, notably Staryu, Chinchou, Slowpoke and Squirtle, which are frequently running bulky and/or utility sets. One Agility and Deerling is almost certain to move first (without Trick Room). Sap Sipper is there for any extra boosts, and indeed to be immune to Stun Spore/ Spore/ Sleep Powder/ Leech Seed. Seed Bomb is there to deal with Taunt and also Water types. Deerling also has enough bulk to escape from Timburr and Mienfoo, but its escape has to be timed well in order to not lose your boosts by letting Deerling faint. Additionally, Work Up is a good option for Baton Passing in LC, since it raises both attack and sp. atk, meaning you can pass to either a physical/ special sweeper based on what's out in the field.
