well i know it sounds weird but the moveset should be morning sun flare blitz will o wisp and extreme speed also its ev's should be max hp max sp.def and the rest in attack
Do you know what's annoying? Got a shiny growlithe from SOS chaining and it's got an adamant nature and I can't breed for Close Combat XD
Arcanine (Physical)
Arcanine @ Life Orb
Trait: Indimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Jolly nature (+Speed, -SpAttack)
- Flare Blitz (STAB)
- Wild Charge (dealing with water and flying types)
- Extreme Speed (priority)
- Close Combat
Please answer instead of doing a comment
GoldenTime why would you use a move like Wild Charge when you can just use something like Thunderbolt? Why take the recoil if you dont need to?

Edit: Ahhh i see this is a physical build.

Arcanine is a great Pokemon that can perform well in most situations.

[email protected] Expert Belt
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Mild
Moves:
Flare Blitz/Flamethrower
Sunny Day
Solarbeam
Morning Sun

This is my personal favorite setup for Arcanine. You can choose either Flare Blitz or Flamethrower for your STAB move depending on if you want Arcanine to be a special or mixed sweeper. If you want him to be mixed, I would place his EVs as follows: 252 Atk, 252 SpAtk, 4 Spd. If not, I would place them like this: 252 SpAtk, 252 Spd, 4 Hp. Solarbeam gives you coverage against all of Arcanine's weaknesses and even without STAB the expert belt gives you the power you need to deal considerable damage to your opponents. Sunny Day is a no-brainer. It gets rid of the charge move for Solarbeam and strengthens your STAB move. It also increases the healing power of Morning Sun. Finally, Morning Sun will heal for the recoil of Flare Blitz and any other attacks Arcanine withstands.

Just like a lot of the gen 1 Pokemon, this guy is also a classic. Anyways allow me to show you an awesome physical moveset that will obliterate your opponent's Pokemon.

Item: Choice band.

Nature:Adamant.

Ability:Intimidate.

Moves:

Flare blitz: Does lots of damage at the cost of some hp.

Wild charge: A powerful physical electric attack that costs some hp You don't have to worry about those worthless water types anymore ;D.

Dig: Deals with rock type Pokemon.

Extremespeed or outrage: Extremespeed is a powerful move that most of the time lets you attack first. Outrage is even more powerful but you get confused after using it and it isn't a priority move.

Strategy: Choice band will allow your attack stat to be boosted however you can only use one move. (unless you switch out.)

Here is my Arcanine set:
train him in attack EV
Nature: serious/hardy/docile
I don't really mind about the nature. Its base stats are good enough
Arcanine @ Razorfang (make foe flinch with its good speed stat)
-Crunch (good coverage and may lowers defense)
-Thunderfang (coverage against water)
-Extremespeed
-Flamethrower
you can change flamethrower to flareblitz but give it Leftovers instead

Arcanine l Adamant l Intimidate l Life Orb
252 Attack l 252 Speed l 4 HP

1: Wild Charge - Boost Attack EV and Life Orb, deals with Water Type.

                                               ~Or~

Attack EV Flare Blitz - Boost by STAB, Attack EV and Life Orb.

2: Extreme Speed - Goes firsts (Useful if the opponent is a water with Focus Sash Poliwrath etc. )

                                                ~Or~

Sunny Day - No charge for Solar Beam and good for Flamethrower.

                                               ~Or~

Close Combat - Physical, 120 power, Wynuat?

3: Morning Sun - Life Orb does damage too so you need to heal it.

                                               ~Or~

Solar Beam - Deals with water and should have it if you don't have Wild Charge.

                                               ~Or~

Flamethrower - Boost by Sunny Day (STAB)

4: Sword Dance - Nor really needed but really useful to KO opponent with Extreme speed or Flare Blitz.

Choose any :D

Arcanine (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Impish Nature - impish or careful is my recommendation because it is a tanky set
- Extreme Speed - Priority
- Morning Sun - Healing
- Will-O-Wisp - Dmg adds up and since its atk isnt too great without the nature/evs it helps chip away (STAB sarcasm)
- Flare Blitz - high base power with STAB (Recoil)

I WOULD SAY
Arcanine @ Luminous moss (Boosts Sp.Def if hit by an Water type attack!)

Trait: intimidate (lowers the enemies attack for the ones that didn't know that.)
Nature: Brave
moves:
Roar: good combo with Toxic/will o wisp
Swagger: works together with Intimidate.(First you lower the foes Attack and you boost it and Confuse the target.)
Toxic/Will o wisp: to poison/burn the target then switch it out and eventually his whole team is poisoned/burned.
Thunder fang/Solar beam: thunder fang is super-effective against water and may flinch the target! solar beam is a two-turn move but has 120 power!

i think that you can win a lot of battles with this Arcanine

This is a Arcanine built created for doubles to decrease the opponents attack while being at max speed to try and go first so your opponents Pokemon have their attack decreased at the start, it is quite bulky for taking hits, healing and then dealing some damage and protect to scout or if you think your opponent will attack only you Arcanine this turn. Also the Lum Berry is for if your opponent does try to harming Arcanine through status conditions. I think this set would work with a trapper like mega Gengar or Gothitelle to prevent your opponents Pokemon from escaping to get rid of its attack decrease.

Arcanine @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Snarl
- Morning Sun
- Protect
