PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

Hello guys!

So I've explained to my brother a whole new concept for him: Hail Room Teams.
For those of you who doesn't know whazzat, Hail Room Teams turns Mega-Obamasnow's slowness to an advantage by setting up Trick Room, thus making slower Pokémons the fastest.
My brother loved that, so he wants to create a Hail Room team. By the way, I am gonna post eventually his team to get some advices, now that he accepts criticism.
*(this is a long story for newer users on this site)

He consider having a Reuniclus and an Abomasnow to open out. Abomasnow sets up the Hail, then Reuniclus uses Trick Room so that he gets the priority. But he wonders is it is worthy to consider Dual Screens in Reuniclus's set in order to get something like:

Reuniclus @ Light Clay:
Trait: Overcoat
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 Sp.Def
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Speed

  • Reflect
  • Light Screen
  • Focus Blast
  • Trick Room

Or to leave the Dual Screen setting to another Pokémon,

Or not to use Dual Screens at all.

So, three choices; one answer:

1) Reuniclus w / Dual Screens + Trick Room
2) Another PKMN w / Dual Screens ; Reuniclus w / Trick Room
3) No Dual Screens at all, Reuniclus w / Trick Room

What he said:

" Dual Screens are useful in any team, but if I were to pick the first choice, then Reuniclus would be my key and without it, I may end up by losing. Also, this limits Reuniclus's choices.
If I were to take another PKMN with Dual Screens, I may waste a free slot; leaving three attackers.

Me: Leave the Dual Screens to another PKMN.

He: I am unsure. Can you ask the Database for help ?

Me: Of course I can :)

"I may have a third choice: Abandon Dual Screens. It may be wasting my time, finally."

Many thanks from me and him, btw ^^
Have a nice day ;)

An Espeon maybe?

Regardless, Reuniclus should have Magic Guard. It'll stop hail buffeting and also make Toxic & Burn useless, which means it does what Overcoat does and more.

I think that setting up Trick Room and screens takes too much time. Trick Room will only last 5 turns and there's no way to increase it, unlike the screens. If you get Reuniclus to use Screens + Trick Room, it's too susceptible to Taunt. If you get something else to use Screens, you need to switch, and in doubles it's best not to switch since you're essentially switching into 2 moves which means more chance of getting KO'd.

Also, a surprising amount of Pokemon carry Brick Break, like Victini and Weavile.

Doubles is hyper offensive, so I recommend:

Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 4 Def
Nature: Quiet
- Trick Room
- Recover/ Protect
- Psychic
- Focus Blast

Abomasnow @ Abomasnowite
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP, 228 Sp. Atk, 28 Atk
Nature: Quiet
- Protect
- Blizzard
- Wood Hammer/ Giga Drain
- Ice Shard/ Earthquake

Protect on Reuniclus is needed if you choose to run E-Quake on Abomasnow. Protect on Reuniclus is probably more useful than Recover in doubles because of Fake Out. Recover stalling is so much harder in doubles anyway.

The dual screen Reuniclus and the trick room idea is awesome, especially combined with the Abomasnow to boost its defences and speed. Leave the dual screens to Reuniclus as it can take many hits whilst setting up. I suggest leading with Reuniclus to set up;once finnished setting up (don't worry if it dies when finneshed setting up, because its done its job), switch into Abomasnow and sweep away without any worries of dying.
I'm just wondering what other Pokemon you will build around this duo!

Hope I helped!

fondant's right. In fact, I am a Taunt Bait. Regardless, I still give you a vote since you bothered, and not to look unfair.
Thanks :D btw, fondant was right about the Reuniclus ability magic guard.
