I currently have a Sceptile that is adamant natured on my omega ruby. I EV trained him in attack and speed, but is a physical offensive sceptile decent in competitive?
Here's his current moveset:
Christmas (Sceptile) (M) @ Sceptilite
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw/Dual chop
- Drain Punch
- Earthquake
- Leaf Blade

Will this work in competitive? Is it even a good set? I've only used it once against a friend and I won. :P

Best answer

Yes

Sceptile has an overlooked physical move set.
I personally prefer a Physical Sceptile a Special one.

Why ?

  • Somewhat unexpected
  • Has Sword Dance for a solid boost while it doesn't have much for a Special.
  • Decent physical movepool and fairly okay attack stats
  • Reaching 110 Attack with a Mega is good enough

Classic Physical Moveset

Sceptile @ Sceptilite
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Outrage
- Earthquake

Thank you for the great answer! :D
Glad I could help ^-^
the attack can grew higher if you use weakness policy for that pokemon which have 5 weakness
if you do so, change it to unburden instead of overgrow
