Here's what I think...
Ability: Sheer force
Nature: Adamant/Jolly OR Timid/Modest
Adamant/Jolly set: Earthquake (STAB), Poison Jab (STAB and boost from Sheer Force), Shadow claw (covers Psychos+Sheer force boost), Your choice/Hone Claws (or Claw Sharpen in the Japanese's case)

Modest/Timid set:
Earth Power (STAB and boost from sheer force), Thunderbolt (boost from sheer force, covers water types), Flamethrower (Boost) and Sludge Wave (STAB+ sheer boost)

I'd say the timid/Modest set is better but it's entirely up to you. :) Go with the adamant/jolly set for higher attack.

ive found a good way to really annoy people:

first use Toxic Spikes

then keep using Roar to poison their full team

Earthquake for steel and poison types

Venoshock with STAB and them being poisoned its got crazy power

or as speed freak reminded me u could use ice beam to cover flying types and levitators instead of venoshock

hope it helps...

Item: Life-orb
Ability: Sheer-force
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Hp

Earthquake is STAB. Ice and Thunder-punch are bolt-beam-coverage. Fire-punch is coverage while Sucker-punch is priority. This set without Sucker-punch is the Physical version of the Special based Nidoking I use. This guy is just awesome.

This is the most dangerous nidoking ever built.

Yeah, this Pokemon is strong if you know how to use.

Nature: Adamant
IVs: Defense

Poison Jab: Yep, this move has 30% to poison opponent, is very high, you know.
Mega Horn: Oh my god! This is pain, and can cover weakness.
Aqua Tail: Oh yeah, cover weakness.
Stone Edge: Increase critical hit radio is nice eh? Also can cover weakness.

Item: Poison Barb/Razor Claw

Every one posted great advise........
My personal oppinion is....

Rock Slide - great coverage

Mega Horn - deal with psychic and dark

Earthquake - Oh yeah!.... STAB

Poison jab/ice beam/shadow ball/focus blast - This slot is really up to you, its all prefrence, I'd say Poison jab for STAB, but I do realize poison isnt really useful like other attacks. Give me your oppinion for slot four....happy to hear it.

Earth Power- STAB, boosted by Sheer Force
Flamethrower- Coverage, boosted by Sheer Force

Yes, I know Special Nidoking is better than Physical. And that Sheer Force Nidoking outclasses every other Nidoking. But here's a set that goes with the latter on both.

Nidoking @ Lum Berry
Ability: Poison Point
Jolly Nature
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Hone Claws
-Focus Energy
-Stone Edge
-Drill Run

This set takes a sort of double-dance approach. Hone Claws boosts attack and accuracy, as both attacks tend to miss. Focus Energy makes it so that you will get a crit every time with those moves. Sticky Web support is vital, as Nidoking is quite slow.

Standard Nidoking with a bit of a twist.

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Naive Nature
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Earth Power
-Sucker Punch

Now, Sucker Punch off of Nidoking's high Attack allows for a lot of revenge kills that the opponent wouldn't suspect. Picture they've got a weakened Crobat and you have Nidoking in. You've already established you're not Scarf, and he's about to go for the kill with Brave Bird when WHAM. A Sucker Punch to the face.
