Fast Physical Sweeper

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Behemoth Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance

  • Behemoth Blade: Good Steel-type move with good power
  • Sacred Sword: Very good physical Fighting-type move coverage
  • Play Rough: Good Fairy-type physical coverage
  • Swords Dance: Setup

I feel like swords dance is unnecessary because of intrepid sword plus base 170 atk.
Well some setup is always helpful. If they are just setting up other things you can get into +5 or +6 and sweep almost everything
Actually, Zacian doesn’t need Swords Dance. Her attack is so high, she’s better competitively than mega Rayquaza. Plus she has Intrepid Sword, raising her attack. Swords Dance is a great setup, but it is quite pointless with a Zacian. It gives the enemy a chance to attack your cute sword wolf (Zacian) and it kind of wastes attack. I killed Leon’s Gigantamax Charizard with Behemoth Blade. She’s just that powerful.
Zacian often runs SD in Ubers/AG so it can OHKO more things. Not giving Zacian Swords Dance means losing to every Dusk Mane Necrozma and Groudon you meet, and not getting some KOs on Steel Resistant Dynamax Pokémon. :P
Staka~ is right, but just be aware of Ditto. Also, Assurance set beats NDM better than Swords Dance, and no one brings  Groudon to it, since it takes around 70% from Behemoth Blade.
They actually nerfed Zacian's attack to only 150 when S\V came out, so that would be bad news...

Fast runner doggo!

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Agility
- Behemoth Blade
- Wild Charge
- Close Combat

With 252 HP, you can now take a +1 Astral Barrage, Life Orb-boosted Max Flare from Yveltal, as well as Max Lightning from Xerneas which would previously kill you. In return, set-up Agility and boom! Use Agility on something like Defensive Yveltal that can't touch you. Then kill the opponent's wish of using Scarf Kyogre or Calyrex-Shadow to outspeed you, because you're faster!

  • 252 SpA Life Orb Yveltal Max Flare vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Zacian-Crowned: 328-387 (84.5 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • +2 252+ SpA Xerneas Max Lightning vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Zacian-Crowned: 298-351 (76.8 - 90.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • +1 252 SpA Calyrex-Shadow Astral Barrage vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Zacian-Crowned: 310-366 (79.8 - 94.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Me big dumb for this set, but it many times catches the opponent by surprise :P

What about Ho-oh? You can't really do anything to it. Wild Charge still KOs offensive Yveltal just like Play Rough does, and also hurts Ho-oh at the same time.
Oopsei, good point. Let me edit that in.
Amazing set. +1

Just wanting to say, this even outspeeds scarf caly-s
Zacian-C is normally very fast. Even without any Spe investment, it outspeeds Max Spe Timid Yveltal. That's some nice speed it gets.
I just wanted to say that mostly on damage rolls you lose more than 90% of your health so with wild charge if you one shot a yveltal you're gonna atleast lose 25% of your health, That'll automatically ko your fast doggo.
Why would you use Wild Charge when Behemoth Blade nearly OHKOes after some chip on offensive, and defensive have no way of touching you (except Foul Play, but they never gonna stay on you).

Also, Behemoth Blade deals more damage to Dynamax Yveltal than Wild Charge.
+1 252+ Atk Zacian-Crowned Behemoth Blade vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dynamax Yveltal: 686-810 (87.2 - 103%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Zacian-Crowned Wild Charge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dynamax Yveltal: 412-486 (52.4 - 61.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Set to invalidate all of its counters
Sun Zacian-C. I mean why not?

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Behemoth Blade
- Solar Blade
- Fire Fang
- Close Combat / Play Rough

Usage tips: Use this set in Gen 8 AG. First, you need a Sun setter. Drought Groudon is your best way right now. Just be aware that due to the Primals and Mega Rayquaza's ability which invalidates weather, this set can't be run in Nat Dex AG. However, it works good in Galar AG.
Why these options: Behemoth Blade is standard and necessary. Solar Blade OHKOes Quaqsire the moment it tries to switch-in to it. Fire Fang 2OHKOes fully physical defense Necrozma-Dusk Mane, which makes this set heat! Close Combat is not much necessary, while Play Rough is chosen to hit Giratina and Zygarde-C which are common walls to Groudon and wall non-Fairy STAB Zacian-C.
Handy calculations.

+1 252 Atk Zacian-Crowned Solar Blade vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Unaware Quagsire: 536-632 (136 - 160.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Quaq quaq dead.

+1 252+ Atk Zacian-Crowned Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane in Sun: 195-231 (48.9 - 58%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO

2OHKOing this is impressive. Close Combat tends to 3HKO, so this has higher damage output than it in sun.

by
edited by
you good at math.

also, WHY SOLAR BLADE?
it OHKOes Quaqsire which is a solid wall for it which it can't break.
19   | Quagsire           |  4.51688% | 2803   |  1.902% | 2171   |  2.084% |
Quagsire usage rate based on this:
https://www.smogon.com/stats/2020-12-H2/gen8ubers-1760.txt

Quagsire is definitely problematic and takes Zacian's normal moves well.

I don't know if Swas is good at math or not(I know I always score well though), but he used this tool:
https://calc.pokemonshowdown.com/index.html
Can't you see he quoted it :P

Fire Fang is still okay, but I would like to comment on it.

Assurance is also a possible choice if you don't want to set up sun as most Necrozma DM will switch in.

+1 252+ Atk Zacian-Crowned Assurance vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane: 240-283 (60.3 - 71.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Heavy Duty Boots NDM is also popular. Regardless, switching NDM into Sword Dog requires a lot of prediction while Fire Fang is easier to handle. When did I say that Sword will set-up Sunny Day bruh. I will lead with Groudon, force xygarde in, then switch into Sword Dog, lure in NDM and get the desired 2OHKO. Also, setting up Sun is easier to set-up Stealth Rocks or other Spikes, etc.
"I don't know if Swas is good at math or not(I know I always score well though)" Idk why you put this matter. Regardless I scored 39/40 in my exams :)
You could actually partner this up with Koraidon now that Gen 9's come out. Great idea, Tensa!
The Metagame is a lot different in Gen 9 Ubers. Quag isn’t Zacian-C’s Main problem. It’s Skeledirge, who does an immense better job at checking Zacian-C than Quag.
Oh, good point.

Why does zacian have weird ev's? It should be hitting as fast and as hard as possible, not to mention some ev's are wasted due to a lack of multiples of 4.
They're not "weird" EVs, they're balanced EVs. Intrepid Sword already helps Zacian become a hard hitter when it comes into battle, and this Zacian's speed is 400, that's perfectly fast. And if it doesn't attack first, it'll still be able to win since it can take hits unlike other Zacians. And no EVs got "wasted."
some EVs did get wasted, there are 6 evs wasted, meaning you could have 4 HP/100 Atk/136 Def/136 SpDef/128 Spe, and still have the same outcome, so you can give 4 more evs to a stat.
Interesting. Okay thanks, I updated my setup.
An alternative to Sacred Sword is Close Combat. Zacian can 1 shot so many pokemon that lowered defenses might not matter because they have no chance to hit.

National Dex Anything-Goes

Dig Dog Go brr

Loser of many battles (Zacian) @ Groundium Z
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Close Combat
- Dig

  • +3 252+ Atk Zacian Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane: 436-514 (109.5 - 129.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • +3 252+ Atk Zacian Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Groudon-Primal: 490-578 (121.2 - 143%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Does this thing requires any explanation? I guess no. One of the most under-explored sets for it, Z-Moves are what that distinguish this from Zacian-Crowned. This set is capable of punching holes through slower teams, but take care of opposing Calyrex-Shadow, Zacian-C and Jolly Marshadow for which you need some speed control. But, after doing a Swords Dance this just wrecks Dusk Mane lion as well as Earth's living entity.

Close Combat for other non-Z purposes, though Wild Charge is required to hit Ho-Oh which resists all of these moves. Since there are not many viable users of Z-Moves in Nat Dex AG, allocating one set to it is fine. Beware Ditto, but since Dig is a two-turn move you have the advantage.

At this rate u will sooner or later make a electrium z set to hit ho-oh. Or maybe even farium z
Lol no, there's not much need to hit Ho-Oh. It dies to a +2 Wild Charge or even if its at 66%~ around of HP, Dusk Mane is more bulkier that's why I thought this is a good idea

Gen 9 Ubers Wincon + Wallbreaker

Zacian

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Behemoth Blade
- Play Rough
- Trailblaze

Zacian-C got Trailblaze in SV, so now it has a damaging way to outspeed all of the (viable) meta, even Scarfers. Tera Grass + Trailblaze flips the Ground weakness and OHKOs Kyogre. The Intrepid Sword nerf hurts, but SD fixes that a bit. Behemoth Blade and Play Rough serve as STAB, BB OHKOing Clodsire. Pairs well with hazard stackers like Ting-Lu to guarantee more OHKOs. Watch out for Skeledirge, which hardwalls almost all Zacian-C sets this gen.

  • +1 252 Atk Zacian-Crowned Behemoth Blade vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Clodsire: 408-481 (87.9 - 103.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes
  • +1 252 Atk Tera Grass Zacian-Crowned Trailblaze (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kyogre: 356-420 (104.3 - 123.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • +2 252 Atk Tera Grass Zacian-Crowned Trailblaze (60 BP) vs. 200 HP / 0 Def Groudon: 326-386 (83.3 - 98.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after 2 layers of Spikes
  • +1 252 Atk Zacian-Crowned Behemoth Blade vs. 248 HP / 120 Def Arceus-Fairy: 422-498 (95.2 - 112.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Behemoth Blade has high power. Play Rough can lower the opponent's Attack, Sacred Sword can counter Fire types and Psychic Fangs for breaking shields. Wild Charge can take out Ubers such as Multiscale Lugia which can be troublesome to take out, or Ho-Oh, a popular Galar AG mon.

Great moveset! I'm definitely using this one!
Good moveset!
Sacred Sword isn't super effective against Fire.
I think what they meant by "covers fire types" is that it deals neutral damage to fire. Both of Zacian's STAB moves would deal half damage to fire types

NatDex AG Smeargle counter set

Sword doggo (Zacian-Crowned) @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Behemoth Blade
- Close Combat
- Wild Charge
- Substitute

Smeargle grows more popular higher you go into the NDAG ladder so you're basically forced to come up with a goods solution to shut Smeargle down. Turns out, no one uses attacking moves on a Pokemon with a 20 BST on both its offensive stats so Substitute basically shuts it down entirely. However, it's hard to predict a Smeargle switchin sometimes.

by

I personally like using other leads to counter smeargle that are faster, I think it can easily counter smeargle with a quick taunt. After that, you've shut it down. Honestly, you can even counter it with...another smeargle. You really just need a fast taunter.

Bulky zacian has a lot of EV value.

I don't remember most of the calcs tbh, but they are quite important. 4 Spe actually outspeeds max speed Landorus-Incarnate by 1. Using Rillaboom is to kill Lando with zacian is really nice. Grassy Glide and Behemoth Blade into it, it dies.

RestTalk Zacian-C

Format: Gen 8 Anything Goes

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 216 HP / 156 Atk / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Fire Fang
- Rest
- Sleep Talk / Wild Charge

Rest + Sleep Talk is a pretty interesting combination for Zacian-Crowned. Between Rocky Helmet chip damage, hazards as a whole and pivoting aggressively into Yveltal / Necrozma-DM / Eternatus, Zacian tends to get worn down extremely quickly. Rest grants it the longevity factor while retaining the ability to beat its common checks in Necrozma-DM and Ho-Oh.

The moves are pretty simple here. Play Rough is the chosen STAB option than Behemoth Blade because if the latter is opted, Kyogre would straight-up hard wall the set, which I didn't want. Play Rough also sports more PP than Zacian's other premier STAB option, Behemoth Blade (8 as compared to 16), and for a set which is supposed to last in long-term games the latter felt pretty restrictive and counterproductive. Fire Fang was chosen over Close Combat for the reasons which are already stated above; the former sports more PP which helps in longer games.

As you'll usually be pairing this Zacian-C with Groudon, the Sun would be boosting Fire Fang's base power to 130. With the increased power, Zacian-C's most common check, Necrozma-DM, has a nice chance of being 2HKO'd after a layer of Spikes, and without any prior damage, Necrozma-DM is getting 3HKO'd by it, and with Rest + Sleep Talk, it would get worn down eventually, thus making it easier for you to break NDM. Fire Fang also hits Physically defensive Ferrothorn for a clean OHKO in Sun, and a 2HKO without Sun's boost, though Ferrothorn staying in against Zacian-C is pretty rare.

The last move is more of a filler; you can run Wild Charge for Ho-Oh, but usually, Sleep Talk is a better option when you're not running any Pokémon which can provide the Zacian-C with clerical support, such as Calyrex-Shadow, Xerneas and Blissey (or exotic options such as Magearna).

The EVs allow the Zacian-C to survive a +2 Max Lightning from Xerneas, and KO a chipped one (<50% HP), or bring it to Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike range. The Speed EVs aid it to creep Adamant Zacian and the vast majority of other Jolly Zacians creeping for the 395 benchmark, as well as max Speed base 130s such as Eternatus. If you're running the Zacian-C on a bulky balance, where it is your fastest Pokémon, the Speed EVs would surely help against the aforementioned threats, and is pretty important to run too.

Team Options

Pokémon which can take care of Groudon, Necrozma-DM, Ho-Oh and opposing Zacian-C are appreciated. As you'll be struggling to break past these Pokémon, especially Ho-Oh if not running Wild Charge, Pokémon such as Zygarde-Complete, Giratina-Altered and Groudon make for great partners. Life Orb Zygarde-Complete can also take down all the aforementioned Pokémon with ease, whereas Zacian-C can slowly chip Lunala and take over Ferrothorn for the Zygarde-C. Giratina-A is fun to use, and it can burn Necrozma-DM, making it even easier to chip it slowly.

Groudon is pretty much mandatory with this Zacian-C, as it summons Sun, which helps in hitting Necrozma-DM for more than 45%, and otherwise getting past it would get pretty difficult. Groudon can also straightaway go for the rolls on the aforementioned Pokémon, while Zacian-C cripples opposing Zygarde-C and Lunala, eventually.

Here is a team build around this Zacian-Crowned set. The team was build by baconeatinassassin for his AGPL game vs. lotiasite. He initially used it as a tool against Choice Band Yveltal, which was gaining heat at that time, and it worked well too. As you can see in the replay, lotiasite had to eventually sack the Eternatus because he couldn't risk the Sun-boosted Fire Fang rolls on NDM, as that would've ended the game then and there. Afterwards, Groudon cleaned, and Zacian's initial wallbreaking was very vital for it to win end-game.

This set can catch the opponent off-guard easily, and with the correct plays and predicts, it becomes a demon late-game. Have fun using it!

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Behemoth Blade
- Play Rough
- Sacred Sword
- Crunch / Swords Dance

The first two moves are STABs and the latter two are coverage options.

The choice between Crunch or Swords Dance is dependent on whether you want more coverage or more damage on top of the 1.5x boost. Now on to the Nature. If you're fighting a lot of Zacians, I would recommend Adamant since a Behemoth Blade will usually OHKO other Zacians if you run Adamant. However, If you aren't fighting many Zacians, then maybe run Jolly for the extra Speed. Just as a quick warning, if you get a low roll with Behemoth Blade on an Adamant Zacian, you won't 1 shot the other Zacian, so be careful.

Fast sweeper zacian
Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Swords Dance

- Play Rough

1 agility, if they still aren't attacking then swords dance. You can outspeed almost anything and kill most things almost instantly with a +1 attack boost

by
While double dance is generally a good strategy the only unboosted pokemon zacian doesn't outspeed are electrode, ninjask, and deoxys, deoxys attack, and deoxys speed. This list is small, so you wont be needing agility. I would suggest something like wild charge, close combat, or sacred sword.
True. But I found that if they get any speed boosting moves they have legit speed they normally out speed. Also, it is trying to outspeed and kill fast enough so it doesn't take any damage
in addition some scarfers (like reshiram) can get a KO off because zacian can't outspeed (though I don't see how zacian could get off both agility and swords dance in such an offensive metagame Ubers is)
normally I just did one agility, and if they were still setting up then I did some swords dance
I would replace swords dance with sacred sword because if you face a steel or fire type your screwed because behemoth blade and play rough aren't very effective.
I would use Close Combat. It is better than Sacred Sword because it does more damage. If you outspeed and kill everything, defense drops don't really matter.

Being the fastest Mon in gen 8 Ubers currently, with the exception of scarfers, you will need the extra power in Close Combat over Sacred Sword. Psychic Fangs works as nice coverage against Eternatus, or any other coverage move works well too.

by

I agree with using Psychic Fangs, but I cannot imagine a scenario using Eternatus against Zacian, I mean, it's STAB moves don't deal damage to Zacian and here is the results of Eternatus using Flamethrower.
Life Orb
240+ SpA Life Orb Eternatus Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zacian: 134-159 (41.2 - 48.9%) -- 62.1% chance to 2HKO
Zacian's turn
+1 252 Atk Zacian Psychic Fangs vs. 0 HP / 92 Def Eternatus: 264-312 (62.7 - 74.1%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
Choice Scarf
240+ SpA Choice Specs Eternatus Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zacian: 154-182 (47.3 - 56%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Zacian also moves faster than Eternatus, Eternatus would still not be able to KO Zacian even with full 252 EVs and this is supposedly the best set.

Fast Physical Sweeper

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Behemoth Blade
- Crunch / Psychic Fangs
- Play Rough
- Close Combat

  • Behemoth Blade (Strong Steel-type move, STAB, double power on Dmax/Gmax)
  • Crunch / Psychic Fangs (Coverage, breaking shields, chance to lower Defense)
  • Play Rough (Good power, STAB, chance to lower atk)
  • Close Combat (Strong move, coverage, although Defense and Special Defense are lowered)

I have Behemoth Blade for obvious reasons. It’s super strong against Dmax or Gmax Pokémon, has good power, and gets STAB. Crunch and Psyhcic Fangs are good coverage, and Psychic Fangs can break shields, like when annoying walls put reflect up against Zacian. Play Rough has good power plus STAB, and has a chance to lower the target’s attack, if they survive the hit somehow, which is quite rare. Close Combat is very strong, and gives coverage. Sometimes it doesn’t matter if her defense is lowered because she can 1 shot almost any Pokémon before they attack and they won’t have time to attack you even with lowered defense. At least that’s always true with NPCs. In the end, it comes down to what works best for you.

Behemoth Blade is powerful STAB that also does a lot to Dynamaxers. Close Combat is coverage for most Steel types and hits Primal Groudon for quite a lot. Swords Dance lets you beat almost anything that outspeeds you except for Necrozma-Dusk Mane, Primal Groudon, Lunala, and Shedinja, Assurance beats all of those with hazards up, and Play Rough does a lot to Zygarde and gets rid of Mega Rayquaza. Wild Charge removes Ho-oh and Primal Kyogre, as well as Toxapex and (after a Swords Dance) Lugia if you ever see those.

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance

Now Zacian-Hero is getting suspect tested for Ubers, so use it while you still can. This is a set that apparently has been popping up more lately; being able to beat its standard check in Necrozma-DM. It SD's on switchin, and with Babiri Berry it is able to live a Sunsteel Strike and fire back with 2 +3 Close Combats to knock it out, or try to set up in its face if it has been chipped. Of course, it can still be revenge-killed and worn down by Helmet, but if the opponent doesn't have Marshadow or Calyrex-S they can be in huge trouble.

0 Atk Necrozma-Dusk-Mane Sunsteel Strike vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Babiri Berry Zacian: 142-168 (43.6 - 51.6%) -- 9% chance to 2HKO

Ability: Intrepid Sword
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Play Rough
- Close Combat
- Crunch
Play Rough and Close Comabat are obvious, and Iron Head and Crunch will try and threaten Calyrex in trying times...
You know, I never expected Zacian to be a more fun Pokemon than it was unbalanced
