Is Galar Yamask's design intended to be a pun?

Sorry, but I was just thinking about all the Galar forms, and was wondering whether the rock type on Yamask is a pun on being "stone dead?" Probably a bit dumb, I am just wondering if there is a trailer that says it and I just missed it.
Also it says there is no yamask tag so idk.

It's ground type, not rock type. Most Pokemon are designed by Japanese people, so English puns in Pokemon games are rare.

I'm not sure that's the whole picture, though. Pokemon almost certainly have designers/translators who speak languages other than Japanese who help preserve the humour/meaning behind particular names or items of dialogue. They don't always get it right (e.g. Splash or Dark-type), but other times the intent behind the character is very obvious (e.g. Girafarig).

There's no such mention of this afaik. It's more likely that the ground typing is related to deserts and mummies and the like.

First of all, Galarian Yamask isn't a rock type. It's a ground type. There actually isn't a rock ghost tye Pokemon yet. So the chances of Yamask's design being based off of this pun is very unlikely. Tbh there is no way to figure out if it tye design is intended unless you got an interview with game Freak.

It's speculation but nobody interviewed Game Freak. Imo i don't think it is because the art designers probably had more important things in mind then make it based off a saying that doesn't even match its type.
