Mine has the ability Rock Head. It knows:

Double-Edge: High power, high accuracy, no recoil.

Earthquake: High power, high accuracy, double damage against Pokemon using Dig, used to deal with Fire types, STAB.

Crunch: Good power, high accuracy, decent chance to lower Def.

Iron Tail: STAB, high power, good chance to lower defense.

Onix (M) @ Evolution Stone
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 160 Atk / 252 SDef / 96 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Dragon Tail
- Rock Polish
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Steelix (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 40 HP / 216 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Tail
- Body Purge
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
U should replace chrunch with thunder fang so that you can deal with water types
I'm not very good at EV spreads, so... Which is a better spread for a physical offensive Steelix with Sheer Force/Life Orb?
252 Sp.Def/128 Atk/128 HP
252 Sp.Def/252 Atk/4 HP
It's supposed to hit hard, but HP would also be very nice. Opinions?
What is body purge?

steelix
ability: rock head
ev spread: 252 defense 252 attack
moveset:
earthquake: high 100 base power and deals with: fire weakness
stone edge: moderate accuracy, high base power and has a higher chance of landing a critical hit
thunder fang: moderate accuracy and power and deals with water weakness
ice fang: just like thunder fang but deals with ground weakness

note: I am not the REAL Pokemon expert. and this moveset is used to make steelix deal with 3 out of 4 of its weaknesses. if you think this oveset sucks, pleae suggest on changes. And hey, i'm just ten.

this set is as tanky as it possible gets considering his defense and low attack  i suggest you look at all your pokemon moves before and stats before you make a decision i recomend eartquake roar stealth rock and gryo ball this set is very main stream so to say but it works well in theory because steelix as you notice has alot of weakness and as soon as you come in with him hes only going take a couple hits before they get mad and switch to someone that can do something with steelix and you gotta predict things like this to use roar to your advantage another set would be curse rest gryo ball and earthquake for this set you are combining curse and gyro to work together for the speed wise and once he is low on hp use rest with a chesto berry and the other person team will be pretty close to where they started at. ive looked at his move pool and he has some very nice moves you can do many things with him like a stall but  you can do alot with other poke its a matter of what your team needs and what you need/want

Answer our "Why was your post hidden" section if you are confused. you can't really tell a Moderator not to hide something.
Thanks. I read it, and it was useful. P.S.: I was just saying that it really doesn't get rejected. Just that, I wasn't commanding Mewderator.
Why would you max his speed and then have Gyro Ball O.o
Or just Lower his Speed and make more Defense.

I've been doing very well with this guy in my UU team as a lead

Thought I should share it

I can see how this will work :). What EV's/item/nature do you use with this? You could also replace curse with stone edge for coverage.

[email protected] or water counter berry

Ability: sturdy or sand force( m. evolution )

Evs: invested in attack and sp. defence

Iron tail: high power, STAB, chance to lower defence

Dig/earthquake: earthquake deals more damage and does double damage to Pokemon underground, but it hits adjadacent Pokemon( including allies, unless they have telepathy ). Dig is single target and allows Steelix to avoid attacks while underground. Both get STAB

Crunch/thunder fang: Crunch does more damage and has a chance of lowering defence. Thunder fang counters water types and has a chance to make the opponent flinch while also having a chance to paralyze

Stone edge/ gyro ball: stone edge counters fire, bug, flying, and ice, and has a good crit. ration and damage. Gyro ball has STABand makes use of steelix's slowness

Hoped this helped:)

Steelix-Mega @ Steelixite
Ability: Sheer Force > Sand Force
EVs: 200 HP / 56 Def / 252 Atk
Sassy Nature
- Earthquake
- Sandstorm /Smack Down
- Curse
- Gyro Ball

Use Curse to higher your attack and lower speed, which is a great combo for Gyro Ball. Smack down can be used for coverage and to hit Flyers- makes flying types and Levitate, Magnet Rise, and Telekinesis Pokemon get hit by ground type moves later with EQ! Or go with Sandstorm to raise power of moves by 30% (Sand Force)

I haven't really tried this out too much but I think it's liable.

Steelix w/ Leftovers or Life Orb
Brave Nature (+Attack -Speed)
Ability: Sturdy
EV's: 252 ATK/150 SpD/106 HP
Recommended IV's: 0 Speed
Recommended in Doubles or Triples

Gyro Ball - Power increases with how much slower the user is compared to the Pokemon it's fighting. (With an added STAB bonus)

Earthquake - High Power and works as coverage and a counter for fire types. (Also an added STAB Bonus)

Thunder Fang/Ice Fang - Ice Fang works as coverage and counters ground types while Thunder Fang is coverage and a counter for water types, use whichever works for you.

Curse/Rock Slide/Stone Edge/Stealth Rock Curse boosts attack and defense while lowering speed, which is what this moveset needs. Stone Edge has a high power and has a higher chance of a critical hit, with a downside of a lower reliability. Rock Slide has a lower power but a higher reliability, with a chance to flinch. Stealth Rock is also an option, annoying your opponent with instant damage the moment they send in a Pokemon.

Alongside a teammate with Trick Room, this guy can shine, sweeping through a team with his varied moveset.

So, I haven't really used this moveset in Showdown or anything yet, but here it is.
Steelix @Steelixite
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Sturdy -> Sand Force
EVs: 252ATK / 252DEF / 4HP (ATK and HP EVs are interchangeable, you can use 252 on HP and 4 on ATK)
Moves:
. Defense Curl/Double Edge/Curse (It depends on whether or not you want to raise stats or not)
. Earthquake
. Crunch
. Iron Tail

The defense EVs along with the nature Relaxed will give your Steelix a defense of 548 and Mega Steelix a whopping 614 defense when it's at level 100, and using Defense Curl can raise that defense even higher, and if you use Curse you can raise its 349 attack even higher as well as its defense. Since ground-, fire-, and fighting- types are mostly physical, Steelix's defense can cover those moves, but if you're facing a water type with a high SP.ATK like Primarina, you're done for, but if you use it correctly, a Mega Steelix can dominate the battlefield.

Steelix (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power STAB and demolishes
- Flash Cannon STAB and pesky fairys
- Dragon Pulse STAB and dragon types
- Dark Pulse STAB and psychic types

My Job here is to make weird sets that work (before you say anything Dragon Pulse does more damage that SF boosted Dragon Breath) If you want to battle me I'm on Showdown as SytheScythe!

Mega-Steelix - Curse Set / Hazard Set Up

Steelix - Item(Steelixite) - Ability(Sand Force) - Nature(Sassy, -Speed +Sp.Defense)
EV Spread - 252 HP, 252 Sp.Def, 6 Def/Atk
Moves - 1. Curse - This boosts Mega Steelix's already amazing defense, and a nice attack raise. 2. Stealth Rock / Sandstorm/ Toxic - If you already have a Hazard Setter, then Sandstorm is a great way to boost Steelix's moves' damage while gradually hurting the enemy if it isn't resistant. STAB paired with 1.3x the power can pack huge punches on sweepers, espesially with a Curse boost. If you would prefer more of a wall, then Toxic is a better choice to do it. 3. Gyro Ball / Heavy Slam - Gyro Ball paired with Curse is amazing. A raise to attack and a lower to speed doubles the power of this move, and with Sandstorm up as well, it will do loads of damage. Still, if you are a bit iffy on speed and prefer weight and PP, you can always go for Heavy Slam. 4. Earthquake - Great coverage and damage. STAB and Sandstorm makes this move deadly to be hit by.

Explanation
Mega-Steelix offers great defensive and offensive capabilities, as well as hazardous ones. Its' ability could be better, I think we can all agree on that, but it is still decent. Curse can turn it into a dangerous and hard-to-kill force that can not only easily take physical hits, but can start to land hard ones as well. With a lack of recovery however, it can still gradually be killed. To help this, you could always go for a Rest and Sleep Talk, but that is another set. While it is up and running, it can pack a serious punch, and with good investments into defenses, he will be up a lot longer.
