if you switch into shadow tag, on the same turn your opponent is trying to switch out, are they still locked in?

i know the fastest pokemon switches first ( just read that )
but if i'm the faster pokemon, i switch first, and i switch into a pokemon like shadow tag chandelure.
what will happen to my opponent?
wasted turn? voided effect? etc.

Voided Effect, and wasted a turn.
It's just like when you use toxic, but the faster opponent uses taunt.
