I've managed to EV train mine so that Sp. Attack and Attack are pretty much equal. It has the ability Intimidate. It knows:

Thunderbolt: Good power, high accuracy, STAB, chance to paralyze, can hit Pokemon using Fly.

Ice Fang: Decent power, chance to cause flinching or freezing, used to deal with Ground types.

Crunch: Good powe, high accuracy, decent chance to lower defense, type coverage.

Return: High power, high accuracy, helps against Pokemon that the other moves aren't very effective against.

flame orb negates facade
not with guts
Wow, nowadays any DW Pokemon will have guts!  Sweet!
Hey Trachy, Yukang here. Luxray's my favorite Electric type. I was wondering if you had an updated version. I'm really loving this set but would you change anything with the changes made in Gen 6?
I'd replace facade (as it isn't stab) with superpower to deal with steel and dark types

Here's a physical set from Gen 4:

Spark (not very powerful but your only Electric option really)
Ice Fang

Magnet Rise is a great option - basically gives you zero weaknesses :D You could also replace Spark or Superpower with a status move like Double Team or Toxic or Swagger (with Persim/Lum berry).

LUXRAY COULD LEARN MAGNET RISE!!!!!!??????????????????
I DIDN"T KNEW THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thunder Fang could replace Spark for less accuracy but the chance of flinching. Other than that, there's no difference between them.

Thunderbolt-since yours has SP ATK EVs

light screen-boost special defense

ice fang-cover ground weakness

thunder wave//return-wave if you want to slow down enemies, , return if you don't want to electric moves

I don't think it can learn Reflect.
Crap I meant light screen. But he has decent SP DEF. (even though they are equal

Luxray @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate/Rivalry
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

  • Wild Charge
  • Ice Fang
  • Superpower
  • Volt Switch

Wild Charge is pretty much the best STAB option for Luxray.
Ice Fang hits Grass types, and gives Luxray the coverage of electric and ice, which is pretty cool.
Superpower gives further coverage, also hitting Steel types.
Volt Switch is for when you predict a switch, you can gain switch advantage.
Intimidate is more reliable than Rivalry, though Rivalry can be used to boost the power of all of Luxray's moves if the opponent is the same gender, but it will lose some power if the opponent is the opposite gender, so this won't always work out.

Well, here's mine:

Trait: Intimidate

Main stat: Attack

Item: Leftovers

Thunder wave: Good effect with paralysis.
Swagger: Works well with Thunder wave, low chance of attacking.
Crunch: Good chance of lowering defense, covers psychic and ghost types.
Wild charge: Use only when foe has below half HP, Leftovers will cover up recoil.

My Luxray (nicknamed Spike) has the Intimidate ability as well. Right now it knows:

Discharge (Physical, might paralyze)
Hyper Beam (Physical, but needs recharge. For grass and ground types)
Double Team (Stat, raises evasiveness)
Flash (Stat, lowers accuracy of foe)

If you don't want to use Flash or Double Team, replace one of them with Swords Dance. I like having those two because they make it very hard for opponents to hit Spike, which helps save him from the recharge needed by Hyper Beam.

Lol. Replace one with Swords Dance? No thank you. Both are special moves. xD
I run into people who hate on double team a lot, which is why I suggested swords dance instead.
Luxraay is NOT special
^ Luxray's special attack may not be the highest, but with the right training it isn't low either. I replaced Discharge with Thunder, and building up stats with Flash and Double Team helps make up for Thunder's accuracy and Hyper Beam's recharge. Only type I can't beat is rock types, Luxray remains my most used and highest level Pokemon my main team.

Here is my set. This is for my Pokémon story, but I still like the set. Not sure about Competitive Play but I think it has what it takes.

Luxray (M) @ Razor Fang
Ability: Rivalry
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA
Lonely Nature
- Electric Terrain
- Wild Charge
- Giga Impact/Crunch
- Volt Switch/Ice Fang

Electric Terrain: If you have just a chance, just one little chance, you can set up and hit with a very deadly Wild Charge. And plus, no sleeping always helps. Sleep Powder Liligant got nothin' on Luxray.

Wild Charge: STAB, very powerful and deadly alongside Electric Terrain.

Giga Impact: Very powerful and is Normal, so it can hit almost every Pokémon, except for Ghosts. It also hits everything that Electric doesn't touch.

Crunch: Less powerful than Giga Impact, but its coverage is wider than it.

Volt Switch: STAB, also if you want to get out of bad scenarios.

Good set, but remove Volt Switch and add Ice Fang.  It gives Luxray great coverage.
Oh, and I would remove Giga Impact since it requires a turn to recharge, which is bad when used competitively.
Yeah, I was considering Giga Impact as a "last resort move", but coverage comes first. That is why I put Crunch as a second option. If anyone wants to use Giga Impact as a last resort or use Crunch for coverage for Golurk and others, its up to them. I use Crunch on my competive team though. And I agree, Ice Fang is better than Volt Switch when it comes to priority, but Volt Switch helps switch out during bad scenarios, but most likely, that would be inevitable. So you're right, Ice Fang is a better option.

My Luxray knows:
Thunderbolt: STAB, great power and accuracy

Ice Fang: cover weakness against ground-type

Crunch: good power and accuracy, chance to lower Sp.Defend

and my favourite, Magnet Rise: prevent super-effective hits against ground move like earthquake for 5 turns. it can be learn in a house in Snowpoint City by shard hunter.

Luxray @ Salac Berry
Trait: Rivalry
Evs: Speed and Attack
-Ice Fang
-Wild Charge
-Night Slash

answered by
One problem with your moveset; Luxray can't have Ice Fang and Night Slash at the same time, since no possible parent Pokemon can give it both. For an alternative Dark-type move, I would suggest Crunch. Ice Fang is its only Ice-type move, though.
Ummm, Smeargle! Sketch FTW haha

Luxray @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Guts

  • Superpower

Mixed Scarfer + Status Absorber :D

Role: physical scarf

Ability: Intimidate

EVs: 252 atk, 252 spe, 4def

Nature: Jolly

  • Wild charge/Spark
  • Ice fang
  • Crunch
  • Fire fang/Superpower

This set grants Luxray with the most speed possible, plus some great attacking moves.
wild charge or spark would be your main stab move, ice fang is for ground weakness, crunch is because, well, it's just a nice move, and fire fang or superpower is the same reason as crunch

Luxray @ shell bell
Trait: any
EVs: 4HP / 252Atk / 252Spd
IVs: 31Atk / 31Spd
Nature: jolly (+Spd -SpAtk)
·Charge (what every good electric sweeper needs)
·Wild charge (STAB, great power)
·Ice fang (coverage, also rapes the dragons)
·Crunch (need I say more?)

If you use wild charge, first use charge to double its power, and now its power will most likely OHKO your opponent. But this will recoil damage your luxray alot, but then your shell bell can restore alot of that heavy recoil damage, so your brave electric soldier can keep on going.

In a sense, Luxray is a good wallbreaker or just your average electric type Pokemon depending on how you look at it. Let's start with the stats:
High Atk, low Spe. That is a big problem, considering Luxray might get OHKOed before it can even make a move. So aside from movesets, you need a speed passer to support it, as my movesets heavily depend on it.
Now, the moveset:
Luxray @ Muscle Band
Trait: Guts
EV: Suit yourself: faster or stronger?
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
·Magnet Rise
·Ice Fang
·Thunder Fang/ Wild Charge
·Facade/Crunch/Fire Fang
So if you followed the instructions and passed the speed to Luxray, use Magnet Rise. Basically this is to ensure you get the move to eliminate any single weakness, then you are good to go. Ice Fang is obviously coverage on ground types, Thunder Fang and Wild Charge works but WC does have recoil, so be careful. Fire Fang and Crunch both works, and should you get Statused Guts and Facade will help, along with a Muscle Band increases all Attacks power, to deal with pesky switches, instead of Choice Band and forced to return.
Hope this helped!

this luxray moveset is based of his traits: gust and rivalry (gust boosts attack when you have a status condition and rivalry boosts attack when he has the same gender as your opponent)

item-flame orb
gender-male (most trainers wants a male)

ice fang or fire fang - stab and freeze/burn (with al your boosts this attack will be more powerfull!)
wild charge- stab and high power (other option is thunder fang)
every move you want
Getting a flame orb is very ****. if you dont have one you can do this move set:

item-what you want

sleep talk
wild charge
ice fang or fire fang or thunder wave or other moves

you also have a moveset that lowers the change of get damage from your opponent:

item-what you want
nature- sassy or brave

thunder wave- you will outspeed your opponent
swagger- make your opponent confuse but raise his attack however
all moves you want

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Speed

-Spark: STAB, has a 30% chance of paralyzing the opponent ^-^

Usually, Ground type pkmns aren't too fast, so you shouldn't have any problems.
