Our approach to shared-network accounts
On PokeBase we have a strict policy against users who create more than one account. Extra accounts, commonly known as 'duplicate accounts', are blocked on sight. However, our means of tracking this can cause confusion with users who own separate accounts, but connect to the same network. While we could opt for the safest approach, which would be to block all accounts that come into question, we've decided to compromise.
If you regularly use this site through a network or device you know other users are using, leave an answer here indicating this, including a link to the account/s in question. Frequently, these accounts will belong to siblings, relatives and co-workers. This thread will act as a 'whitelist' of sorts to inform moderator decision-making.
So what's the catch?
To prevent abuse of the points system, ALL users in question must be in mutual agreement to the following rules regarding shared-network accounts, or moderators will block them like with all other 'duplicate' accounts.
The users involved will not be allowed to vote each others' posts. The inclination to vote a sibling or colleague's posts is a threat to the integrity of our points system and is therefore disallowed wholly.
You will not be allowed to answer each others' questions. Talk to each other if you know the answer! This prevents people from coordinating posts to gain points, which again compromises our site systems.
Users who have previously had problems with duplicate accounts cannot participate in this agreement. If any user involved has breached our trust in the past, exception will NOT be made for them nor you.
If any user involved breaks these rules, all accounts involved will come into question for a ban. If you cannot respect the terms of this agreement, we won't offer it to you. Do not ruin this for other people.
Thanks for your cooperation!
