Thread Information

On this thread, you can post suggestions as to what tournaments should be hosted on the site! When you post suggestions, please make sure that you include all rules that will apply to your tournament and the amount of members in it. The most popular tournaments, determined by those with the most votes, will be hosted next. Old and not-so-popular suggestions will be hidden over time to prevent clutter.

Please check through the existing answers and the tournament winners pages linked above to make sure your suggestion hasn't already been made.

Take note that these tournaments will not be hosted on the 3DS (or a Switch or whatever fancy gadget you're using nowadays), but on a Pokemon simulator called Pokemon Showdown. Also if you have a new suggestion that has not been suggested, post it and see if it gets support!

Please read the selected answer (the first answer you'll see) for additional information.

Heatran is banned from Fire Teams
No Stealth Rock" etc

Add any extra details or more complicated rules at the end. These rules will be default in case you forget to add those complicated rules.

Single elimination best of one brackets
Battles are to be held on the Pokemon DB Showdown! server.
Save replays and show them to the host. You can make them private if you don't want anyone else to see them.
Players can change teams between battles.
If someone disconnects during a battle, then the opponent can take the win or redo the battle.

Got it. Just making sure.
The new “seasonal format” is twice a season, right?
Why was the Anime Tour skipped?
PX made the tournament a couple years back, and now that it was coming around to it, she was feeling less than enthusiastic about it, so she decided to skip it and move to the next one
oh ok [filler]

Seeing as how we've seemingly revived the DB Tourneys (oh god I hope I haven't jinxed it), I'll revive this thread with an idea...

Pimpnite Tourney

So, perhaps you've heard of this guy. If you haven't, he's basically just a wi-fi battler who does one pokemon sweeps, or theme teams, among other things. A whole lotta theme teams... hopefully you see where this is going. Basically, you take any one of his theme teams and make it your own. Then, we do battle with them. Yep. Heres all 300+ theme teams, for reference.

Couple of guidelines:
- Don't pick any theme teams that are just 6 of one pokemon; thats not really much fun, and kinda defeats the purpose.
- You don't have to stick exactly to the movesets and stuff he chose; just the Pokemon, unless its something like the illogical items team, where the items are integral to the theme.
- Stay away from any Uber-heavy theme teams; this should be a bit obvious.
- Anything I'm forgetting, mention it below, and I'll add on.

Other than that, thats all. Hopefully this can help snowball the DB tourneys a little more!

by
Always upvote Pimpnite. That dude is rad af. Also, his vids are some of the most intense and fun matches I've ever seen! :D
Pimpnite is amazing. I am personally a fan of his Cosmog sweep.

This was an Other Metagame of the Month, so it wasn't my original idea. However, I like it.

Mono-stat (originally Highest Stat Meta)
It's a single elimination latest generation OU singles tournament, but with a teambuilding restriction that's kind of complex.
All Pokemon on a team must share at least one highest base stat. For example, Greninja is allowed on speed teams even if it was somehow invested to have special attack be its highest stat.
This is only checked when the battle starts. For example, Lopunny is allowed on speed teams even if it mega evolves.
If a Pokemon has multiple stats tied for highest, it's allowed on multiple kinds of teams. For example, Sableye is allowed on both physical attack and physical defense teams, and Jirachi is allowed on any team.

I really like this idea

Mono-Move Championships

The rules are:

  • Every Pokemon must have one of the same moves
  • Standard OU clauses/bans
  • Mega Evolutions are banned (Debatable)
  • You can change your team between rounds (debatable)

The way it works is that your team must all have a common move. If you win the battle, you can change your team if you want, as long as it fits the rules. Example: I have a team consisted of a Dodrio, a Raichu, a Ratticate, a Swellow, a Rattata, and a Doduo. They all know Quick Attack, having that be their common move.

The setups are going to be either 8 or 16, randomly paired up. The winner plays the winners, and it is optional, but we can find out who is also 4-16th place.

FEAR and Shedinja are actually very easy to counter.
Should be Lv100 so we can use whatever, there's no reason not to. And if this tour happens it'll most likely be via Showdown! anyway
I don't see the fun in this kind of tournament.

The Bookemon/Moviemon Tourney

Many people liked the idea of the anime tourney, but not everybody has knowledge of anime. Most user would have already read a book or watched a movie already, so most people could participate.

Rules

Regular OU bans/clauses
1 Uber Pokemon allowed on each team
Every team of Pokemon has to be based off a single book or movie.
For every round, the category of the book or movie changes
If your team is not based off a book or movie, you could get DQed unless there is a valid reason.
You need to name the Pokemon after the character in the book/movie to avoid confusion.
You can choose the same book/movie as someone else, but you cannot have the same Pokemon intentionally.
(Optional) Pokemon should have some physical resemblance to the character if possible.

Example

The first round's category is Fantasy. I choose Harry Potter as my book/movie.
I can choose a Pyroar for Ron (red hair), an Alakazam for Hermione (smart), Hoopa-Unbound for Voldemort (no nose, and dark with magic powers), and Xurkitree for Harry Potter (messy, short hair, strong Special Powers). If I win, I have to make a new team based off of a different book/movie that fits the category.

This is actually pretty cool. Media tours are normally pretty fun and creative.
This sounds amazing.

Color Clash Tourney

This tourney can either be played in whatever format the host wishes, as long as it fits, the format can be decided by round (which format which round is also chosen by host), or it can be an agreement between battlers (caution, may lead to arguments), and note: this is not meant for OM's (only the formats that I've listed a banlist for thus far can be used).

The premise of this tourney is that the pokemon's Pokédex Color has to be the same for all of your pokemon. If the color changes with form change (mega, Pokemon like Castform), the base Pokédex color counts. If the Pokemon is shiny, however, the new color of said pokemon is counted as their base color. You are not limited to any specific color team when you sign up, the color team you want to use can be anyone you wish. You can change teams.

Ex 1: Porygon 2 and Delibird can be on a red team.

Ex 2: Mega Charizard X and Porygon 2 can be on the same team; Even though Mega Charizard X has a Black Pokédex color, it's base form is Red, so it must be used on a Red team and Not a Black team.

Ex 3: Scyther and Shiny Scizor can be on the same team, because Shiny Scizor is technically Green. Scizor cannot be Shiny on a Red Team, However.

To avoid arguing, the host has the final say in what color a shiny counts as.

Rules:

  • Whatever format it is played in, Smogon Rules apply (obviously)
  • It is a bracket tournament, so the player amount should be 4,8,16,32 and so on (although preferably 8/16, so it isn't too long, and that's how many people usually sign-up :P

Banlist Will be here, in case if anything would be too OP and should be banned.

RU None

NU None

PU None

Little Cup None

AG None

CAP None - Although, X-Scizor will suggest Tomohawk and Mega Crucibelle, I disagree.

I'm pretty sure the shiny counts as a variation of the base form, so it doesn't count as a separate color.
Well, sumwun, I decided I wanted to count it as a separate color in my tourney Because:

A) The point of the tourney (color vs color)

B) Cause I both can and want to; it is my tournament idea :P

C) Increase the amount of Pokemon in each group.

Why does this have only have two uproots?

OU Restricted Tournament

Intorduction:
OU is without a doubt great, and is the most popular format on Showdown! However, there is one problem, and that is Landorus Therian. Guys, let's admit it. Landorus-T is the Brawl Meta Knight of the OU format. It threatens all sorts of physical attakers thanks to Intimidate. It has a wide movepool, bringing various sets to the table, such as Defensive Stealth Rock, Choice Scarf, and Double Dance. Additionally, Lando’s typing is great offensively, and defensively, scoring immunities to both Ground and Electric. Top that off with an attack stat of 145. This thing is so good, it has its own tier on Smogon's OU Viability Tier List. (Well, now it shares a spot with Heatran but w/e) If you hate this thing as much as I do, then you would like the OU Restricted Tournament. On the other hand, if you do like using Landorus-T, this tournament will encourage you to try new things.

Description:
This will be a single elimination OU tournament that bans Landrous-T. But why have a whole tournament banning one Pokémon? To spice things up a bit, you are restricted to only 3 Pokémon that are A- and up on Smogon's Viability Rankings. This will encourage the use of some slightly less powerful Pokémon such as Rotom-Wash, Mega Sableye, and Latios. That way, you can get the best of both worlds. And you don't have to worry one bit about Landrous-T when Teambuilding!

Rules and Stuff:

  • Single-elimination bracket tournament
  • Will take place in OU format
  • Smogon bans and clauses will apply
  • 8 or 16 participants
  • Landorus-T is banned
  • Heatran is banned (debatable)
  • You are restricted to 3 Pokémon that are A- or higher on Smogon's OU viability rankings

Yeah, that's basically it.

Yo Ubers is NOT OUBL. I meant a new tier that border lines powerful Pokémon. Sort of like how UUBL Pokémon are banned from UU but may not be viable in OU. Lando is on every single OU team, which is a problem. I think I good ice type would be a great addition in Gen8, if they decide not to make a whole new tier.
Sorry for sorta necroposting, but I want to disclose my part of this comment section. I am not trying to say anyone is wrong or make anyone mad, I just want to present why I don't agree. Of course, this is an opinion, but there is a bit of reasoning in there, too. (and sumwun said the comments on a thread could never get too long) :P

OUBL would ban the pokemon to Ubers. Ubers isn't a usage based Tier, and is a banlist, therefore, Ubers is the exact same thing as OUBL would be (a non usage based banlist). If you wanted a tier in between, You would have to create a new tier (like ZU, SU, MU, etc) not a borderline, because that bans it to an above tier even if it doesn't have much usage.

And, sumwun (and eXcess), I understand that there usually are 2-3 S ranks, but If you ban all current S ranks, some other Pokemon will become S rank. There will always be S rank Pokemon, whether anyone likes it or not. If we ban lando, Kartana, and Heatran; what if a worse S rank is developed in the meta? Do we unban them? Do we ban the new ones? Where do we draw the line?

If we keep doing senseless banning, the meta will be erratic and become way less popular (as it will be hard to keep up with). We'd effectively break the tiering system. (Of course Smogon won't ban Lando without good reason besides "it is S rank", they don't want to ruin the tiers, so they think and discuss these things).

Finally, consider this: Will banning Lando make the meta more enjoyable, or make it worse?
OUBL is an acceptable term, you don't need to create a new tier for it. You're just making it more complicated than it needs to be.

Banning the S-Rank best Pokemon would make the next best Pokemon the de facto best? That's the whole point. To see how good Pokemon are without others in the tier. I don't agree or disagree particularly with actual specific bans, but you're kind of just not making any sense here. What is your actual point?
Guys, this is just one tournament. It's not like we're permanently changing the OU format or anything. If you think this idea is bad, then just scroll down (or even up; our weird ideas get lots of up-votes).
I originally came up with this tournament idea because I was salty after figuring out my team is countered by Landorus-T lol. I thought maybe there should be an OU tournament, but Lando is banned.

"Will banning Lando make the meta more enjoyable, or make it worse?" You have a point when you say banning one Pokémon will make another better. But the way I see it, it will be better. Will Heatran become the best Pokémon, since Landorus is no longer in the tier? Maybe so. Well it be as overpowered as Landous-T is? Maybe so. Zygarde, Ash-Greninja, and even Tapu Koko can counter it. Will Zygarde rise in usage a ground type attacker? Maybe so.

In away, that is what this tournament tests. As PX said, removing Lando will let us see how good *other* Pokémon are in the tier. It may be a bit farfetched, but as sumwun said, it is just one tournament. Sorry about all the pointless blabber. :P

My Pokken Tourney idea was very successful, so let's try this!

Introduction

Hi, I'm eXcess. Today, I'd like to introduce you to a new PokémonDB tournament idea:

Pokemon + Smash Tournament

As you may know, Super Smash Bros. is an action game about smashing beloved game characters off the screen. Many Pokémon have appeared in this series, whether as fighters or from PokéBalls. I'm sure you are all eager to find out who will be joining this tournament. So I made a list to showcase some Pokémon appearing in the tournament. Please take a look!

Eligible Pokémon

Fighters: Charizard, Greninja, Ivysaur, Jigglypuff, Lucario, Mewtwo, Pichu, Pikachu, Squirtle, Ice Climbers

PokéBalls: Abra, Arceus, Articuno, Beedrill, Bellossom, Bewear, Blastoise, Bonsly, Celebi, Chansey, Charizard, Chespin, Chikorita, Clefairy, Cyndaquil, Darkrai, Dedenne, Dialga, Deoxys, Ditto, Eevee, Electrode, Entei, Alolan Exeggutor, Fennekin, Gardevoir, Genesect, Giratina, Gogoat, Goldeen, Groudon, Gulpin, Hitmonlee, Ho-oh, Inkay, Jirachi, Keldeo, Koffing, Kyogre, Kyurem, Latias, Latios, Lugia, Lunala, Manaphy, Marill, Marshadow, Melloetta, Meowth, Metagross, Mew, Mimikyu, Moltres, Munchlax, Onix, Oshawatt, Palkia, Piplup, Porygon2, Pyukumuku, Raikou, Scizor, Snivy, Snorlax, Solgaleo, Spewpa, Starmie, Staryu, Suicune, Swirlix, Togepi, Torchic, Unown, Venusaur, Victini, Vulpix, Alolan Vulpix, Weavile, Weezing, Wobbuffet, Xearneas, Zapdos, Zoroark

Note: Pokémon that appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may participate

Note: Evolutions may participate

That's right! Every Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. history is joining the battle. Indeed, absolutely every Super Smash Bros. Pokémon ever is in this tournament, whether they are fighters or Pokémon that appear in PokéBalls. I believe this is what DB users want, so I made the impossible possible. Anyway you slice it, this has the most Smash for your signup post. Simply put, this is the biggest tournament in DB history. Once again, DB users will collide.

Jokes aside...(for now)

Other Info

To make this feel like an actual Super Smash Bros. tournament, this tournament will be double-elimination. Basically, Round 1 winners proceed to the winners bracket, and losers will proceed to the losers bracket. That way, if you slip up or have an unlucky game, you won't be knocked out of the tournament completely. For more information, go here. That being said, a participant total of 8, 16, or 32 is preferred.

As of now, this tournament will use the Uber format. However, if other users prefer OU, I can alter the eligible Pokemon list accordingly. Nonetheless, Smogon bans and clauses will apply.

Note: You do not have to have a fighter on your team. Teams made up of all PokéBall Pokémon are acceptable.

Summary

Here is a summary of the rules for your viewing pleasure:

  • You can only use Pokemon that have appeared in a Super Smash Bros. game (trophies don't count)
  • If an eligible Pokemon is an NFE, that Pokémon's evolution(s) is allowed
  • Double-elimination bracket tournament
  • 8, 16, or 32 participants
  • Will take place in the Uber format
  • Red Orb is banned (debatable)
  • Blue Orb is banned (debatable)
  • Normal Smogon bans and clauses apply

Before I go...

I hope you are excited as I am. I will continue working hard updating this post until the tournament starts. I really appreciate your upvotes. I made including every single Super Smash Bros. Pokémon ever my number one goal, so I was kind of hoping you weren't excepting too many eligible Pokemon. However, due to the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, new Pokemon will join the battle!

Corrected a minor error.
Ahh, how could I forget Ice Climbers?
Did you know Solgaleo and Lunala will join the game?!
Yeah, as well as some others like Alolan Exeggutor (however you spell it), Abra, and Bewear. I should probably skim the Direct and add those Pokemon. I also forgot Genesect ;-;
I have a question, do with evolutions everything similar to that count? Like mega-evolutions and alolan/non alolan Pokémon?
You can mega evolve anyone you want, but I’ve decided to seperate Alolan and normal forms because in SSBU, some Pokemon appear in only their Alolan forms and vice versa.

Monotype + Monoitem Tourney

All the Pokemon on your team must hold the same held item as well as share the same type.

Rules:
Standard Monotype rules
Save replays of battles

by
Great idea, except you then realize poison has an exclusive leftovers that damages non-poison types AND has toxapex on their side
it's not like toxapex is unbeatable with black sludge
You can have an entire ground team holding choice bands. Those are pretty broken.
and water still has 5 turn drizzle, swift swim, and life orb
3 votes

Dunno if this has been done yet, if it has I'll hide this. But presenting
Monotier
Rules
You have to use 6 Monotype tourney, but they must be from specific tiers as following.

  • 2 OU
  • 2UU
  • 1 RU
  • 1 NU

No SR
You can use one Pokemon from another type, but it has to be RU or NU.
This should be gen 6, so you can use MEGA POKEMON.

Banlist

  • Shellsmash Baton Pass
  • Stealth Rock (More Fire, Ice and Flying teams)

I'll come up with more if this gets more votes. Please comment on ideas as well.
It should be 16 people.
Hope you like it!

I just reformatted this because this was really badly indented. :P
Thanks
Why can't we just do Monotype but with the 13 point mixed tier rule? It gives us a lot more freedom.
Because that's a different tournament

OU Monotype Changing Tournament

Basically the rules are simple, it will be a 16 man tournament set in Gen VI. You have to create a full team based around a certain type for example Fire. All Pokémon in the team need to be at least part Fire.

Ditto is banned from competing against all types expect Normal. Mega Evolutions that aren't already banned are allowed, as long as they are in there respective type. You cannot use Mega Evolutions such as Mega Aggron in a Rock type team, regardless of it being a Steel/Rock type before Mega Evolving, since it loses it's secondary type when it Mega Evolves.

The following Abilities are Banned: Dry Skin, Flash Fire, Sap Sipper, Lightning Rod, Motor Drive, Storm Drain, Volt Absorb and Water Absorb.

Overall it would look like this:

1st Round: Fire- 16 Participants
2nd Round: Water- 8 Participants
3rd Round: Grass- 4 Participants
4th Round: Electric- 2 Participants

Types can be changed by a public vote.

Of course the normal Smogon Clauses are also in effect:

Species, Sleep, Evasion, OHKO and Moody
Latios/ Latias may not hold Soul Dew
Sand Veil and Snow Cloak Abilities are Banned
Shell Smash and Baton Pass is Banned

32 is too big.
I'll change it to 16 :)

The Metagame (tournament)

Description

This is a tournament in which the style of each round is completely different, and will be played in a different Meta. So, let's say, round One was Ou, and the Meta was Stall. All teams would have to be stall-like teams. Then it could be Round 2: Ubers, Hyper Offensive. The UU, Sun etc etc until only one competitor is left.

Too make sure the teams fit the criteria, I will be looking for someone to help out who isn't in the actual tour. . Teams will be submitted to this person (or people) to check if they fit the criteria (feel free to ask if you are not sure what the meta terms are).

Rules

16 man tour, regular smogon rule apply for each tier

Teams must be submitted by deadline date to the individual officiating the tournament

Teams must not use weather unless that is the selected Meta

No FEAR, OHKO moves, blah, blah )standard procedure stuff)

Feel free to suggest rules

These Touneys are in Showdown, not WiFi.
I know that. Did I include something Wifi T-T?
"The Mega Pokemon you will be using must be exclusive to your game." what do you mean by your game? does each contestant choose a version?
I edited it. I guess it makes it sound confusing.
I say we do Custom format and able to use 3 mega forms, but all must hold their respective Mega Stones.

http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/350-cup-pawniard-darumaka-ban.3512945/

look for the rules there, it seems like a really fun metagame. it's already been coded and is wouldn't be too hard to implement (Or it might be I don't really know), so it seems like a fun tourney c:. it would be a 16 person tourney, single elimination, and be held on our server (or any server that has it).

THE KILLZ TOURNEY

enter image description here

Welcome to the KILLZ tourney.

8-16 players, they will face each other twice, once in a Double Battle another in a Single.
The Pokemon with the most kills wins.

A Killz is when they make another Pokemon faint, it is 1 point.
Let's say, Kronos's Infernape has 23 points while other people's Pokemon have less points than that, that means that Kronos will win the tourney because his Infernape has more points than any other Person's Pokemon.

A Killz Assist is 0.5 points, if you damage a Pokemon with an attack and another Poke kills it, than the Pokemon that damaged it first gets 0.5 points.
The Pokemon that LAST attacked it before it died gets the killz assist.

Toxic, Burn damage counts for both. SR, Spikes and T-Spikes damage does not count.

The Double Battle part makes it much more interesting, it's much easier to get Killz and Killz Assist if there are 2 Pokemon on the field instead of one.

The point is to make team based around one Pokemon, try to make that Pokemon get as many Points possible so that you win the whole tourney.

Make sure to stop your opponent from killing your Pokemon!
I hope you guys like it :D
The rules are

  1. Standard OU
  2. Regular OU banlist
    Any other ideas?
If you guys didn't understand anything, feel free to tell me in the comments :D

"Win Consecutively with Rental Pokémon"
Battle Factory Tournament
Each player goes on Pokemon DB's Showdown! chat room and enters "/randpoke" until he/she/it gets six different Pokemon species. It must be on that chat room because otherwise they won't appear in logs that we can check. He/she/it must then build a team with those six species but gets to decide the other details, like moves. If a chosen species has multiple forms, the players can also pick whichever form they want. After each battle, the winner can replace up to two of his/her/its Pokemon with Pokemon species that the loser used, and is again free to modify details like moves and forms.

This is one of the tournaments where the participation must be a power of two, because each player should have the same number of chances to change their teams.
Set in Uber (to include every species but also ban stuff like double team)
Everything except species can be changed between battles.

So I got this idea from a Smogon Forums user named Mr.E. This is what he said.

It's like how chess is a cool game even though every "team" consists of the exact same pieces in the exact same starting configuration every single time. How you maneuver those pieces is just as important as the pieces you have, but ultimately being a means to entertain one's self some people prefer having a wider variety of pieces to choose from.

After thinking about this for a while, I asked myself a question. If this can be accomplished in Generation 1, why can't it be accomplished now? Without further ado, this is my answer.
OU less stuff tournament

This is identical to an OU tournament, except that players may only use Pokemon that are ranked S, S- or A+ on the OU viability rankings. Currently, these Pokemon include, and only include, Landorus, Heatran, Kartana, Clefable, Ferrothorn, battle bond Greninja, Magearna, Tapu Koko, Toxapex, and Zygarde.

Pokken Tourney:

Overview:

This tournament will incorporate fighters and support Pokémon from Pokken Tournament DX on the Nintendo Switch. There are many great Pokémon available for this tournament, such as Latios, Mewtwo, Scizor, and much more. But as for your legendaries, choose wisely! Only 3 legendary or mythical Pokémon can participate. In order to mix things up, 3 of your Pokémon will be Battle Pokémon, and the other three will be Support Pokemon. Here is a list of battle and support Pokémon that are in the game, and so, can participate in the tourney. DLC Pokémon Aegislash and Blastiose, as well as their respective support Pokémon, may also participate! Ready... fight!

Rules:

  • Battles in the tourney will take place in the Ubers format on Showdown!
  • There will be 16 participants
  • It will be a single elimination tournament
  • The battles will be Single Battles
  • You can use 3 Battle Pokémon and 3 Support Pokémon
  • You are limited to 3 legendary or mythical Pokémon
  • All Mega Stones are allowed
  • Z-Crystals are banned
  • Mega Rayquaza is banned
  • Smogon bans and clauses will apply

Sample Team:

Mewtwo, Blaziken, Scizor, Yveltal, Mimikyu, Victini

Yasss an upvote!
Given these Pokemon, I'd have to say I'd probably not want this because: It is a very limiting tournament with very complex rules, and limits Pokemon too much. Only having 2 legendary/mythical doesn't makes sense because: most of the viable support Pokemon are legendary/mythical,  making Dragonite, Lapras, and Togekiss insanely common, especially if you have no support legendaries. That, and many other strange meta-game stuff that sumwun would explain better than me :P
Okay, let's agree to disagree. "It is a very limiting tournament with very complex rules" How are the rules complex? You use Pokémon from Pokken Tournament DX. 3 battle Pokémon. 3 support Pokémon. It's certainly not simple, but doesn't that make teambuilding less boring? I can understand how it may be limiting, but I think this is not a big deal. First of all, have you seen the roster? Pokken Tournament DX has many good Pokémon to choose from: Scizor, Blaziken, Mewtwo, Dragonite, Mimikyu, Mew, Aegislash, etc. are all good Pokémon. But I see what you mean when you say having only 2 legends doesn't make sense. I don't play the game very often, so I forgot about how many legendaries. I can always edit it to 3/3 instead 2/4. I also will admit that many support non-legendaries suck. Remember. This is your tournament, so I'm open to suggestions. We could even enforce a limit of 3 Uber Pokémon rather than a limit of 3 legendaries. I simply wanted to have things mixed up, so every team wouldn't be filled with box-art legends. But seriously, if you compare this to the Mono Arceus Tournament, it isn't that limiting, especially because of the release of new Pokémon in the DX version that will add more variety to the mix. But sure, I'll change the rules to 3 legendaries/mythical Pokémon for now. Also, since the Battle Pokémon are actually good, I could make it so you can use 3-4 Battle Pokémon and 2-3 Support Pokémon. If this for some reason isn't good enough, than please tell me.
well, the point of mono-arceus was to be limiting to arceus. Limiting to 3 ubers is better, and if we really wanted to, we could do the random teams format levels instead (Lower tiers are slightly higher levels), but we could do either or. :P
Oh, thank you for the suggestion.

The Points System

This is similar to another suggestion I saw earlier but a little different.

  • LC = 0 Points
  • PU = 1 Point
  • NU = 2 Points
  • RU = 4 Points
  • UU = 7 Points
  • OU = 9 Points
  • Ubers = 15 Points
  • AG = 20 Points
  • Any BL is 1 point less than the tier above it

You get 20 points to spend. Ubers are basically unsusable as they cost 3/4 of your points. Mega Rayquaza is almost 100% unusable because it costs ALL your points. There are 3 rounds against each player. Every round, you MUST lose 3 points somehow. (Ex. Get rid of 3 PU pokemon, an NU and a PU, etc.)

Let me know why this tourney is the worst thing you've ever heard of and why you wish I was banned

I feel like that was a shot at me good idea  upvoting
No I always end like that you can check my Chat Room Improvements post
You should edit this to 99.999% unusable. :P
I actually really like this idea for some reason. :P

Bonus Type Tourney :3

This will probably need a custom format (or 2) on the Pokemon Database Showdown! server :P

Thought this up when I was bored.

  • Every pokemon gets an additional type of your choice. (can be a type the Pokemon you choose already is, because then you A) stay the same type, and B) get a Slightly wider movepool)

  • The Pokemon can learn moves of that type you chose from the list below VVV

  • If a Pokemon is dual typed and gets a type other than it's own picked, it is a tri-type (has 3 types).

  • Will have 2 formats (depending on what the host chooses) OU Bonus Type (uses OU Pokemon, has banlist)/Ubers Bonus Type (uses Ubers Pokemon)

Banlist

The banlist is for the OU like format; all of these can be used in the Ubers one, however.

Mega Pinsir + Extreme Speed

Dark Type Gengar

That's all I can think of, comment any more that could be banned, and why
You can also suggest changes to the movelist

Hope you like this...

In that case, can you please ban sticky web and trick-or-treat? They are too OP.
Done :P
What happens if Ditto/Smeargle participates?
exactly what the answer says will happen
Actually, Gengar doesn't have levitate anymore, so it could be legal.

This is sort of like PX's I'll Follow You tournament, but with a twist.

So, you start out with any Pokemon that you want that at least has one weakness. Then, you have to use a Pokemon that is a type super-effective against the previous Pokemon you chose.

For example, let's say I start with Swampert. Now, I have to use a Grass Pokemon. I could add in Whimsicott. Then, it goes on and on until the last pokemon.

Rules:

Standard OU Rules.
All Pokemon must have a weakness.
Showdown clauses.
16 participants.
Save replays of the match.
