Or will there ever be a thread specifically for the IoA? I've seen quite a few people say they would start fresh in the IoA, not use the team they used to beat the game, which is why I'm asking.

what is IoA?
Isle of Armor, the first DLC for Sw/Sh.
I second this suggestion.
What suggestion, Jason? I'm just asking where to put it.
Should prob be its own thread.
My assumption is to just put it in the existing thread and specify that it's DLC, but I'm not opposed to a new thread. I like the idea of seperating them for the reader's convience.
Still going to respond to this. I’m extra busy at the moment.

This answer isn't definitive, and you should give your own thoughts on the topic if you disagree with it.

For now, I think the best solution for teams like this is for them to be integrated as part of the main Sword/Shield in-game team thread. I have some reasons for feeling this way:

  • I don't think the Isle of Armour requires much attention to strategy for post-game players. If you're in the post-game, it's a more efficient solution to simply over-level your team than to pay attention to the team you're using. Consequently, I think a thread for this would lack a strategic focus and would focus purely on 'Woah, I want to use that Pokemon too!' (...As much as the existing threads have some of that too.)
  • We don't really know what the second DLC expansion will be like (though there have been some leaks), but I don't expect it to be much different from the Isle of Armour from a strategy perspective. If it has proper level scaling, then I will have a different opinion.
  • The DLC expansions are not functionally post-game content only. They're designed to be played alongside the main adventure, which means new submissions to the main Sword/Shield thread should already start considering the team's performance in the expansion areas. Furthermore, any new thread dedicated to the DLC would similarly have to accommodate people playing through it in the early stages of the game, which means you should consider the contents of the 'main' experience anyway.
  • In other words, the DLC threads would eventually end up the same as the main threads unless we specifically lay out that they're for the post-game... and I've already discussed why I don't think that's worthwhile. (And if we don't impose such restrictions, then the DLC threads could just turn into a mess of some people playing for the post-game and others trying to make teams that suit the whole experience.)

So in short, I think making separate threads would cause organisation problems that aren't worth stomaching just to let people send in their post-game DLC dream teams. Our coverage of the DLC should focus on people who are playing through it as part of the main adventure, which can be integrated into the main thread.

Apologies for not answering this sooner.
