Meta-PokéBase Q&A

In all honesty, the RMT is full of posts that are submitted with 70% of them by new users that lack quality, and they are themselves totally unknown about competitive and don't know how the given tier works, viability rankings of that tier, etc.

When you were to look at teams submitted by new users especially AG , most of them have unviable choices, crap sets and in some cases the player being entirely unknown of competitive. Since most of them are Showdown! formats, it would be a nice idea to suggest them reading the related articles: Viability rankings, Metagame discussion and taking a look at the sample teams before building a team.

But, the scenario in our site isn't that well. Just take a look at the recent questions asked by new users. Many of them are theme teams, dream teams, those made for fun, etc. etc. If we were to promote competitive in our website, then we must have new users aware about the metagame of the tier, so that low quality questions can be avoided.

This meta post would be a lot helpful for that. Threads linking to basic competitive guides, and the VR, samples and metagame discussion for PS! format would be a lot helpful.

So, what are your thoughts on this? Obviously we aren't getting as good as Smogon since it's completely for competitive, but trying a bit of effort to improve RMT section is worth.

Still on the to do list -- I have multiple half-written threads for this very purpose. Stay tuned.

I don't want to introduce any rule that could be reduced to "you have to be at least this good to post an RMT thread", so the instructional threads I'm making will have to do. I'll do what I can to make sure they get publicity.

Theme teams, repurposed in-game teams, teams of favourites, gimmick teams, teams where you're not allowed to suggest legends because OP doesn't like them, etc. should all be banned through the rules page as far as I'm concerned. It should also be outright necessary to specify the battle format. (Pokemaster, if you're reading this, would you mind?)

I know the AG threads are especially bad. Hopefully, changing the rules would let us remove a good chunk of them. Until then, sorry about what you have to read on the RMT section.

(Also, going to plug this because it would still help a lot.)
